Physical - Virtualisation only a maybe if so can't imagine been more than 1, absolute maximum of 2 virtual machines.

Size of school. Approx 400 kids and to act as the primary domain controller of the network so everything really. Possibly run a few VM's of HyperV too

Hi, Been asked to spec a server for a average sized primary school. How would you spec this server? Processor? Ram? Don't want to go majorly overkill but do want enough power and 'futureproof' in the box for it to last. Are you able to recommend a server? Preferably a tower server due to the location! Many thanks

Very tricky one as i see both sides however got to agree I wouldn't imagine this would go down with any SLT. Ultimately they are the schools resources, not the IT department. The students have lost out in a way and the Head/SLT won't take kindly to that. As said earlier in the post, the correct procedure should of been to report what had gone on first, second, third.... time about the security rather than move them to create annoyance. I can't see many end of term chocolates coming your way from the Maths department!! Everyone does things that annoy and frustrate but it's not personal! Makes everything 100x easier if everyone gets on! After all we are employed to assist ultimately to aid and benefit teaching and learning. -
Surely at that price it won't be an uncontended line?! If it is, then snap their hands off at that speed with that price!

Very worrying for myself on a personal note as currently a parent governor of my sons school. Would be very surprised if this did go ahead though - can't see it happening somehow.

Is it worth factoring into CPD budget though? School account rather than personal as like you say it is expensive.

Really wanting to get certified to bulk up the technical qualifications as don't have much other than my degree. Looking at CBT Nuggets however it is fairly pricey but does look very good. In a nutshell - is it worth purchasing? Or is there a better alternative?

Yes - only encrypted USB sticks here. All done through Sophos Console. Is a bit of a pain when someone wants a memory card but can allow that particular device / period of time. Works well and all staff on board with it. Have a few certain computers/laptops which allow all USB devices such as ICT and the main meeting room where external's come with their important presentation on a unencrypted stick.....Can't be that important but lets not go there!!

Looking at a few jobs and the higher up you go the move they are asking for ITIL. Does anyone have any experience or vendors who they have done the course / training with as want to get this done and added to the CV soon as!! Is it majorly hard and indepth? Is a full course required or would a good read of a book be sufficient? Thanks

What age did everyone become their role? Eg. i became apprentice at 17 Technician at 19. Advanced tech 20 Network Manager at 21

Always wondered this myself however, did brief research and for amount offered was not worth my time. They asked for a heck of a lot of info for each piece of equipment. Let me know how you get on as would be interested to see if this has evolved since i first looked.
