Get a cheap NAS drive with a load of large cheap sata drives and create shares strictly for photo/video and archive for staff? I can understand to an extent the want to keep photos as in the long run they will be looked back upon, although I'll agree, sometimes the amount of photos seems a bit too much!

I was aware of the cost to download data, but someone priced up $22k for 3TB?! Jeez, now that is a lot of money..

I've been looking into this too, but obviously it's on tape, there's also retention/deletion policies which cost extra. Obviously downloading the data will cost money, but in a crisis this isn't really an issue. Another company I've been looking at are Backblaze, very cheap on all data is on disk, so obviously access is much quicker and they will also ship your data in a disaster on HDDs via quickest delivery possible if you need it!

Mines great, just cooked a pizza in it, warms up in about 3-4 minutes too. Great for me as I'm on my own, so using the microwave oven for smaller meals is actually cheaper too as it uses less electricity. Food Cooks fine and tastes exactly the same, defiantly was a good buy for me!

In for Unifi, amazingly cheap, easy to deploy and can handle big loads. Also easy to install, maybe consider a gradual deployment yourselves? You'd save thousands all in going Unifi at least

I'm still a fan of tapes, so if somehow everything somehow when pear shaped, we still have weekly and monthly tapes as well as a NAS backup and DPM server.

I'd stick with what you have, you'd be spending more money for little benefit. Laptops are good, but the lifespan is much shorter and upgrades are minimal if they are any, so instead of a new GPU every couple of years and a PC rebuild every 5-6, it's £1k plus on a laptop in about 3 years. Also with laptops, opt for the warranty, may seem a little pricey, but again, if they go wrong it's big money for parts and repairs!

Teachers here either lose the keys or leave them open and then complain when things get broke or go missing! We've tried various solutions but they were mostly too time consuming, considering in an ideal world, staff would just get the key and trolley from their departmental storage area and return it when done, but pigs will fly first here!

I'm gonna throw the U word in again, even so, it's definitely worth looking at different products, not just Ubiquiti in particular, you could end up saving money and have a better system, I'd definitely trial some gear first too, many suppliers are usually more than happy to lend or source you some demo kit for a week or so

All depends on what you want really! Falling back to the simplicity and remote aspect, the ADJ MyDMX does offer remote control via an app to iPads, again, another reason I'm leaning towards it, whilst it might not be ultra complex, it'll see the lighting rig used more often and easier, which to me is better than having an all singing and dancing ETC board nobody can use! A few decent budget brands are Chauvet and American DJ. Ignoring the 'DJ' aspect, they do sell equipment specifically aimed at install environments and the equipment is highly praised. I often see Chauvet and ADJ equipment in schools, nightclubs and lower end theatres with not many bad words to be said!

If you want ease, I'm looking at ADJ's MyDMX 3.0 to control our lights, it simple enough yet at the same time has plenty of features, reasoning for it is our lighting board, even though branded as easy, isn't really, especially when staff and students just want a working solution, so that's why I'm looking software with the light board still there in case. Ordering 4 Equinox MS550 180W LEDs, cheap at £740 incVAT and should offer a lot more effects alongside the Chauvet PARs that are already up. Ordered 10 more PARs too for a portable/uplighting setup.

Good idea, I'm a nerd for lighting and sound kit! Just put in an order at a school for some movers and EV speakers!
