Just an idea, but you could try make a script to sync with the time server and set it as a GPO to be ran on the computer startup? If not you can always do it at user logon

We use a Chrome GPO setting, all we do is have a link to the smoothwall box where the pac file is and it pulls it down when the client logs in

+1 We've also done this using Xibo and some Atom sticks, worked really well!

We heavily use Chrome, so we have a Chrome policy with a proxy pac, works for laptops off site then, IE also seems to pick the settings up, but luckily we don't have to support IE at all! So if you do have Chrome, that's an easy solution!

May be worth a look in too, we have a lot of data so at that price with unlimited ingoing traffic, seems extremely reasonable!

Depends what your needs are today and what they'll be in 5 years and normally how long you'd expect a switch to last, at the core I'd say around 5-7 years for us, edge switches aren't too much of a worry as they aren't as mission critical and are easy to swap out, so tend to only get replaced when we start seeing problems/limitations in them.

If you have multiple sites, Unifi would be good as you can get the cloud controller and centrally manage all the switches and wireless if you have or move to Unifi. As for the Unifi it has got me thinking a lot more, only downside really is stacking speeds are limited to 10Gb or sacrifice ports to make a lag, they just need to bring out a 24 port 10Gb switch, they'd steal the market!

Used them in primaries with basic configs, no VLANS or anything fancy, but they were reliable, decent transfer speeds, some have been running four years or so now with no problems!

We bought the ones we currently have from ETB, they were new open box £450 or refurb £400. Our Dell account manager also gave us a good price on the core with support, so should we go fully Dell, we will get the Core from them as well as 1 or 2 Edge just for support reasons!

We already have 4 we bought and they went in over September as a trial, so far they seem ok! Apparently heard of some in the past needing firmware fixes, but support is good. The other choice was Ubiquiti, but the Dell does seem more of an enterprise grade. It's tough!

We're looking at the Dell N series, £450 for a 48 port 10Gb edge switch and around £2k for a 24 port 10Gbe stackable core. Did look at ubiquiti but the core switch stack speed is only 10Gb, plus I don't think there is much in terms of redundancy at the core?

Be interested to hear how you get on, we're in the same boat pretty much, we want something with as up to date files as possible, but be isolated in the sense ransomware or other nasties can't affect it. So far it seems seeing as we have a tape infrastructure which is kept offsite anyway, Amazon glacier probably doesn't meet our needs, so looking more into Azure, but at the moment, having weekly tapes and monthly archived tapes seems best.

Not as easy, plus Impero fulfills a lot of other needs, such as Chromebook monitoring, iPads, software deployment and meets a lot of safeguarding needs. We got a good deal too

Impero, 90% of issues can be fixed remotely from the office!
