Considering they haven't made Sanyo projectors for around 6 years now and they still work albeit a bit dull, you've got to give them a bit of credit! I agree the Menu is clunky, but it's last design was probably around 10 years ago, whereas NEC and Sony still make projectors, you'd expect it to be all nice and fancy. Not having a go, just seems a bit harsh on equipment that is now, legacy

What is your budget to replace them? If you can afford it, screens are the way forward in most scenarios

Sounds like your problem is down to slow drives. Best practice in my opinion would be to use something like RAID10 on drives like that as it does make a big difference, but it is obviously at his point easier said than done unless the drives are hot-swappable.

Got the proper chipset drivers installed?

What I've noticed in primary schools, is servers being replacing with setups like yours, 7200rpm drives, mirrored as compared to old servers with 10/15k Drives in a striped RAID array. Could that be your issue?

You can either download an APK for youtube off the web, if not, you'll have to enable developer mode and try a developer version of YouTube, that could work.

Have you tried downloading the app through the store or sideloading it? If not, have you tried: youtube.com/tv

You could replace it with something like the Acer ES1-131 or B117-MP-C90Q. Both are very similar to the models you have, then you get to keep the old one for spares or office use!

Some good cars to look at with that budget are MK4 VW Golf Diesels, the PD engines are very reliable. Don't be put off by high miles on these either, 150k isn't much for these engines, providing the car has been looked after, they're cheap to run and parts are cheap. Or if you want something small and quirky, have a look at the VW Lupo range, basic cars, but nice to drive, again reliable and you can buy a low miler under £1k easily!

How big does the car need to be/ Petrol or diesel? The basics of car buying are: -Check oil and water levels, also check the caps for gunk, sign of possibly failing Head Gasket. -Tyre depths all round -Check for scoring on brakes -Never buy a car that the seller has warmed up, it could be hiding something! -Listen for rattles and noises, we all know roughly what an engine should sound like. -Test drive, brakes, steering and clutch all feel ok? -Obviously the other basics (service history, last service, MoT)

Having done both, I can personally say I enjoy High School support much more. Primary support to me is a lot easier and simpler, usually one Server with backup and clients with some basic software and policies, nothing demanding needed. Most support calls tended to be user error (loose cables, clicking the wrong thing, forgotten credentials) but overall pretty laid back and most of the teachers I've dealt with are very pleasant. I prefer secondary due to the complexity, the need for multiple servers, HyperV and overall more demanding requirements, in a High School, there's usually always something that can be done; upgrades, repairs, testing, calls and so on. Whereas in primary schools, in most cases, once the system is on, that's it really, it ticks over. Depends whether you prefer laid back or being tested!

Got to say, I've tried using the education version, but it just wasn't playing nice, having issues with apps, even when installed, the feature updates, are they really needed? I've personally been using Win8 and 10 since Beta and I can honestly say, I've never used the App Store or any of the tiles, if I want that kind of interface or experience, I'll use my tablet. I'm another on the LTSB boat, it's been pretty painless, it's played well with all our hardware and software, plus logon times are quicker too. We don't miss any of the features and the staff haven't requested any, so just security updates on LTSB will see me fine until at least next summer!

Impero is very good, but seems to be hitting a few bumps as of late, other than that, I do quite like it. Netsupport DNA, whilst newer than Impero, seems to be very sturdy and constantly growing stronger. Support seems great too and if you you have any issues, Al will get them sorted for you! They also seem to be extremely cheap lately, but this in no way reflects upon the product, you get a lot more than what you pay for!

Whilst I understand your annoyance, it isn't really a design flaw, more mishandling. Laptops should never really be picked up by the screen or any pressure put on the screen, especially with how thin displays are these days. Laptops should be carried flat with hands under the base or stored in an appropriate carry case or cabinet. Obviously kids and staff don't know this so accidents do happen, we've had it here.

I'm not sure with 10 whether you have to upgrade for it to activate, because you can get the ISO from their site for free! Does seem odd them wanting them back with an OS

By original state, surely that would just mean charger, battery, no missing keys/parts and powers on? Seems strange as they'll have to wipe them again anyway I'm sure to ensure they are empty for when they sell them. Also, if you're volume licensed, get one there?
