have to say for me Maxtor hard drives are a no go anymore we had 124 computers with these in they were rubbish the amount of times I built a image then lost it because they failed/ died on me, in the end started to swap them for some WD's and although they were smaller drives they lasted to till we got rid of the computers. In the end, they wouldn't ghost either so had to keep reloading windows then all the software.

Were slowly moving to windows 7, some machines/rooms will only be done when machines are replaced as they are 6 years old now and struggle with Windows XP and programs which are used on them. But were about 30-40% Windows 7 rest being Windows XP

The reason I’m looking in to windows 7 is because windows XP is having trouble with our remote services and windows 7 just works with no messing about. These laptops are the older ones and are at max ram, with office packages, MIS software and antivirus software which all seem to use a quite a bit of RAM. So I’m testing to see if it worth the upgrade to windows 7, so far between the 2 images there’s not that much between speed wise. but would like windows 7 to use a bit less ram so other applications can use it.

Anyone got any tips to getting windows 7 to run with as less RAM as possible, I’ve turned off some features and disabled aero and set it to classic mode; I’ve got it down to under 400mb.

Didn’t there use to be an option “manual device” or “storage device” something like that, on the first page of the device in itunes which allows usb memory stick operation. This Was ages ago though.

I always keep a container away from any gpo's in AD, which has my image computer accounts in, that way it doesn't download any ID's from WSUS or Sophos. also uses SID change after ghost as well.

Got snow and still snowing :-)

Just frost from this morning, no snow :-(

Already bored with having to deice my windows, I do it properly full view much safer on the country roads I drive down, rather than a small 5 cm strip across the front window. It’s also great fun where the county boundary line is on the road, because one minute it’s been gritted and cleared of snow, then just not gritted and not cleared of snow.

1 iPad done and a 3G iPhone, the internet gods must of been looking down on me because I managed to download both and install in under a hour, I’ve done a iPhone update which has take 3 hours to download before.

I’m on my 3rd Xbox 360, first died because of the power going on and off 3 times, sold the second to pay for an xbox360S because I wanted wireless and bigger HD was the cheaper option also saves a plug socket for the Kinect too.

Microsoft Xbox 360 is going to be around at least till 2015 last comment Microsoft said that I read somewhere and Nintendo said somewhere that their wii is still popular so they aren't really looking to move on yet

i'm also looking to do my CCNA got the books, and now got the money some buy some Kit, so i'm intrested if that would be the kit needed.

I’ve had a few issues like that, I’ve also has it where I’ve click on post and it’s sat there loading but never loads. Wasn’t sure if it was the site or the internet connection, same with a colleague in the office

What model of Macbook you got? I have windows 7 installed using bootcamp and wireless works fine for me.

I’m Dyslexic, it’s never stopped me, I’ve just found ways around it like using spell checking on word.

I have this, I think for me every time I have a chat windows open with a blank advert at the bottom, and it makes my fan start and slows my windows down. so I sign out of messenger close the process and resign in and it works fine because the advert is back.

I had this problem about a week ago with SKY Broadband, lasted about a day or 2. But it sorted itself out before I phoned tech support, Peterborough area though.

I’m having this problem with a teacher, but it is only in 1 room, I’ve updated the drivers to 10.6, swapped the whiteboard but not the pen holder thing at the bottom, going to swap that later today, so it’s either the room or the laptop.

Ok, I admit it, I use a IPad its cut my time using my Macbook down, it’s just much easier to browse the net and use facebook on my ipad. Also use it to keep all my open University E-books on.
