  1. This + Google Docs/sheets/slides but going between different formats can cause files to be distorted. Some conversion issues can occur, especially with word tables and formulas.
  2. We've had a few niggles over the last year with it. We've not had the app crash but we have some teacher says they do the register but doesn't save. We enabled offline use on the user accounts which seems to help. My main issue is the SIMs Teacher App portal. Needs massively updating.
  3. We're seeing this randomly across our iPads. I think it has something to do with the apps now being system apps and not installed via MDM/AC2 so they're being seen as un-managed apps. As they're un-managed they're not getting their device licensed assigned to them. This is just a theory and not sure if it actually the reason.
  4. Is there a GPO that deletes profiles after X amount of days?
  5. We left them this year for a new company as there support has been so bad in previous years. Much happier now.
  6. You can try https://www.apple.com/support/itunes/vpp-edu/ also
  7. Use Apple Configurator 2 and click restore on the iPad. This should clear the device no matter what.
  8. Can you tether an ipad to a mobile phone and check if the video loads then? This will bypass any school filtering which can help narrow it down. Or take one home and test on your home wifi?
  9. We use systems technology which have leased us Ricoh MFDs and small Black and White cannon printers. Been pretty good so far.
  10. Don't get me started on the Admin Portal. Luckily, I passed this over to our SIMS team. It works but it's missing so many features. We've got so many iPads and the list of devices is just growing and growing. We've now started setting people up on iPads with Full SIMS with and RDP session. Works quite well.
  11. We see this a bit with our iPads. We enabled Offline working which has made it better. The worst part about it is we have 2 factor authentication setup so each time a teacher has to sign into the App they have to do the 2 step authentication again even though they have done it already. Remember for 30 days doesn't work with the teacher app.
  12. This poll will probably turn into voting for the one you have as most people probably haven't tried different MDMs.
  13. You can use this to migrate from VPP to Managed Distribution: https://www.apple.com/support/itunes/vpp-edu/ Change the drop down box "Migrate from redemtions codes to managed distribution".
  14. Yes, an apple school manager account merges DEP and VPP.

Got my first winner winner chicken dinner the other day. Got 9 kills (11 including 2 people that died whilst I was shooting them outside the circle). Got a few wins in 2's with a friend also. Can't wait for first person only servers. Very frustrating getting killed by someone camping and using third person view to look round/over corners.
  16. We setup passcore which is free: https://github.com/unosquare/passcore
  17. We lease all our iPads (around 1000 iPads). Some we have bought out right after the lease has ended but our 1:1 iPads are all leased. We usually buy our iPads off Jigsaw24 but recently got some more from Academia as they where cheaper. We then use a leasing company such as CHG Meridian (CHG-MERIDIAN - Efficient Technology Management) to do the finance side of it. We then pay them quarterly over a period of time. Last year we bought 700+ iPad pros 9.7" on a 4 year lease. Main reason for leasing is to spread the cost, plus iPads are usually end of life after 4 years or are struggling to perform. I think you pay about 80% of the price it would be to buy them out right but this cost is also spread out over the lease. I'm not involved in the finance side of things so I can't give much more information. These are things I've heard of.
  18. Seems I am wrong. Thought we where using GPO but we are using GPP with item level targeting to machines in specific OUs.
  19. Is it possible to filevault machines in a shared environment? As I see it at the moment it seems only specific filevault managers can unlock a hard drive to use once the machine has been restarted. This doesn't help in a shared environment as students will be using them. I'm trying to protect the MACs incase someone picks one up and takes it off site as they're quite easily removed. The rooms are secure but would still like to encrypt the hard drives.
  20. We have a parent which wants to practice using this with their daughter at home so she is more familiar with it for when Exams come. I would like to send them the website but it doesn't seem to be up-to-date. Is it possible to update it so they can get the latest version? Or can I send them over the files we're using?
  21. Not sure if this has been posted yet but some people seem to be against devices in education: https://images.apple.com/education/docs/ipad-in-education-results.pdf
  22. We went with option 2. It does allow to set default printer with a checkbox that you tick per printer you add.
  23. Google prompt only works on android devices that has your google account attached to it. This will work if you have android phones/tablets. If you have iPads you'll need to use the Google Authenticator app. Edit: Just read the page and looks like it can work on IOS. Going to test this out! Thanks for the info. Edit2: Yep it works really well. This seems better then the authenticator app although it doesn't work offline.
  24. Yes, we've not yet enforced 2 Factor Authentication on accounts yet as we want all staff to be enroled before we do this or they'll get locked out of their account. We're just making staff turn 2 factor on. We've got a few more to do and then we'll flip the switch on the google admin console to make it enforced and new starters will have to set it up as part of their induction. You can turn it on/off based on OU's in the Google Admin console so you can make sure only staff have it enforced. Not necessarily a mobile but a phone is required for the initial setup (turning it on). Once it's turned on you can setup other methods of 2 step verification. For example, a USB stick (example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/USB-Gadgets/Key-ID-FIDO-U2F-USB-Security/B01JLRT33W). We had to get a couple of these as some support staff don't have mobiles or an iPad from the school. Another method which most of our teachers are using it the Google Authenticator app: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1066447?hl=en . This works offline also. It's not 100% effective but works most of the time. Another method is backup codes. You can create 10 backup codes which can be used only once. When they've all been used you have to generate more. We're using GAM to generate reports to see who we have left to turn on 2 step verification. Once they're all done we'll enforce it on the staff OU so people can't turn it off.
