We have ours around 19c but also have some temp@lert monitors in our main rooms to send us emails if temperature goes about 24C: Temperature Monitoring | Temperature Alert
  2. Is there an iCloud account on the device? It might be that the documents where being backed up to icloud. Try turning on iCloud backup to see if they re-appear. A quicker way to check is to sign into icloud.com with the icloud account which is on the iPad. You can then select the numbers app from the browser to see if there are any documents on there.
  3. Are you able to clarify what you're wanting. Should there be local Numbers files on the iPad? Or was the iPad setup to backup to iCloud and then turned off - this will mean the documents are stored on icloud.com.
  4. If it is under warranty, book a visit to the Apple Store. They're usually quite good a replacing faulty devices. They don't do much trouble shooting other than what we try ourselves as techies. You can check warranty here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/
  5. If you have any codes which haven't been redeemed yet from the old style of distribution, you can send apple a support request to convert the codes to VPP codes. We also managed to get our iPad supplier to add the iPads we bought last year to DEP. I think if the iPads have been bought within the last year or 2, you can do this.
  6. We recently moved away from the SLG because it was a specific skillset and we found 90% of parents only ever logged onto it to download reports. They didn't use any of the other features which come with it. This meant every time a report was published we would get large volumes of calls and emails from parents asking what their login information is again. This can obviously be sorted out by implementing a retrieve account information on sharepoint. We had other issues with it being not very user friendly. Instead we use InTouch to email out reports to parents. Works very well.
  7. The autosave sounds goods. We had an issue earlier on this week where we had 2 power cuts within 30minutes of each other and a student lost all her work both times. They are told to save regularly but they don't listen.
  8. We use WordPad too. Just put a shortcut on their desktop for the exam accounts.
  9. Is it possible to allow other staff to be added to the SIMs iPad setup. It makes it hard to test if you can't set yourself up as a user as the IT team are not teachers. Emerge allows all staff to be setup which is quite handy to test when people are having issues.
  10. Going to add my input after running SIMS teacher app for a couple of weeks now. At first, the SIMS teacher app seemed very good. It was very quick for the first few users we setup and had the features we where looking for. It is simple to use and the teachers got on well with it. We started to get issues with the SIMs teacher app being "offline" and required us to call our hosting company (Scomis) to see what might be wrong. They restarted the server and this fixed the issue. This happens daily and we're constantly calling Capita and Scomis to see why this might be the case. It looks like the SIMs application on the server keeps failing which is why a restart fixes the issue. It's still early days so hopefully updates will improve performance. Another issue I've come across is the management of iPads in the web interface. You can only currently have one user/account that has access to setup.capita-sims.co.uk to associate devices and setup staff. This means we are having to share an account/password to this area. Also, you are unable to delete devices from the devices tab. You can only block devices which means in time we will have a huge list of devices as we refresh ipads every 2 years. A simple delete will sort this out. This leads onto removing the SIMS teacher app from an iPad and downloading it again means you have to re-associate the device in the web interface setup area. This means the same device is listed twice. I'm guessing the association information is stored on the devices rather than being associated via a serial number of some sort which is checked each time you open the app? We're hoping things improve over the next few weeks as we pay a lot of money for this. Scheduled updates for the iPad have been emailed out so that is a good sign!
  11. We had an error like this on one of our SIMS clients and re-installing SIMs fixed the issue.
  12. We've had this looked into over the last couple of weeks. We do externally host SIMs which slows it down a bit but we had similar issues when SIMs wasn't externally hosted. It was left for us to contact our External hosters to see if network resources where being limited. I was wondering if there is any way to make emerge work for just the registers. That way the database will only be for the Registers which will make it smaller and quicker to update?
  13. We've just signed up to start using this app. We have too many issues with emerge. It's one of our biggest walk-ins from teaching staff. Always having to clear the database and re-load. Teachers say they can't login and it sits there loading for about 15 minutes. We've been told from groupcall support that this is when xporter is running the sims/emerge update job. This job takes 20 minutes so makes emerge unusable for 20 minutes. We've contacted groupcall about this and they trialed us on a pilot script which only made things worse. Teachers started saying they took a register but it never came through to SIMs. So we reverted back. We're hoping the SIMS teacher app will be better. I think if the xporter update job didn't take so long we would carry on using Emerge as it has served us well for a few years.
