Sorry to bring an old thread back to life but this seems to us that this is still happening on every new release of the SIMS Teacher App. We have trickles of teachers coming through the door asking for new codes. Also, since yeserday, the SIMS Teacher App is no longer available in the IOS App Store. Has it been removed?

This issue was resolved in the latest Google Drive update. We had this issue with a few students at our school but now works fine. Google Classrooms is really taking off in our school. We are all google here now so we have mail setup for google as well as GAFE/GADS/GAPS. Some staff are using Hapara and some staff are using Google Classroms. Classrooms was only introduced this year and already a lot of staff using it. I think we will probably get rid of Hapara next year.

Googled the downloadable link for c++. Found the exe on Microsoft website then found the install parameters to go with it so that could also be deployed as part of the package. We have a piece of software called PDQ Deploy which can push out install files to machines on the network. I'm not in work atm but can give more information tomorrow if you need it.

The only reason we use it is for the backup feature in-case a student breaks their device they can then restore onto a new iPad.

Do you know any more about this? We use Casper/Jamf but I don't think this is avaiable on our MDM. Do you know what it means by the System Manager Network? Edit: No matter, I've found some more information about this on their website: https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/article.html?id=366

This doesn't work as the iPad is locked to the iCloud account. You can reset the iPad to default settings but as soon as you sign into a wifi network, you're prompted with the activation lock screen. You can do it by going to icloud.com and signing into the icloud account there which is listed on this page.

Wow, that's very expensive for that amount of iPads. We currently use Casper/Jamf. Their pricing changes depending on how many devices you have but in blocks. So we're currently paying for the 1000-2999 block. We have around 1000 iPads and about 100 MACS and we pay £6.3k for the year.

We where in a similar situation about 2 years ago. It was that bad the 2 senior IT people left and various other people came in to take over but only made things worse. Eventually we got consultants in which identified all the issues we had. They ended up being with us for a year and a half to sort everything out. Luckily being a private school a lot of money was thrown at them to fix things. We're now in a really good spot with a larger team.

Hello, we have around 150 teaching staff using the SIMS teacher app to take registers. We're finding that every now and again people require a new device association code. It seems to be random and we're not sure why this is happening. Is anyone else using the SIMS teacher app having to give people new device association codes every now and again? I know the recent update made it so we had to re-associate the devices so it might be our users haven't updated their app in a few weeks.

Very similar to our school. Parents can pay for most things using Wisepay but some of the smaller things are still cash.

I guess this is the feature that makes it so you don't require an apple ID to assign apps to a device. Handy for sets of ipads. Will be interesting to see how it works.

We found that users who had updated to IOS9 couldn't connect to AirServer which we rolled out at the beginning of the new year. We soon found out that AirServer released an update the day after IOS9 which supports IOS9 airplay. We are currently deploying the new version of AirServer to our classroom computers. If this is not the same issue you're getting you can try reset the network settings on the iPad. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Google Drive works well but if you don't want to use another application you can plug the iPad into a MAC and use the iPhoto application to view photos on the iPad.

Under the Casper/Jamf MDM the lock down of passcodes is under restrictions but requires the devices to be supervised: Allow modifying passcode (supervised only) Allow modifying Touch ID fingerprints (supervised only) Let me know if you want a full list of restrictions currently available in Casper and I'll copy and past it.

This is one of the best things I've read all year. Must have created 1500+ apple ID's over the last 3 years just so every device had it's own apple ID. We now get students to make their own but we do have some class set iPads which will benefit from this.

Was not aware Salamander could do this. Does anyone know if Salamander can do this but for Google Mail accounts?

We spoke to capita this morning and by the afternoon they had confirmed that the update has caused this issue and it was not intentional. They said some users are affected but all ours have been affected so I think they're ytrying to make out that it's not as bad as it seems. Very frustrating for us as we only did the device association last week. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

A new update came out today in the Apple App store for an update on the Sims Teacher app. A few of our staff have already updated and it is asking to re-associate their device with a new code. This means we're deleting their device and re-adding to get a new code. We only set these users (100 of them) up last week and now we're going to have to do it again? Is anyone else getting this?

This seems like it might be the answer. I can see the member of staff has a role of "Ex-Employee" but I can't see how to change it.

Hello, We've got around 200 teachers now using the SIMS teacher app. However, we have one teacher that is constantly getting this error message when logging into the app: "A server error has occured - There has been a problem when trying to get the users details. If the problem persists please contact your IT support team. I've also attached a screen shot of what's happening. None of our other teachers are getting this and I've tried reinstalling the app and creating new association codes. I have posted a screen shot below of what this user is getting. Any help will be appreciated.

Yes we used this also. I think it needed slightly tweaking but we used it 2 weeks ago to create 200 apple id's. There is also another script on the same website which will automatically go through all the verification emails and verify the accounts for you - this does require all the emails to go to the same account. We did this by setting a regular expression on Google admin to catch the emails and forward them to a single email address. This also requires a MAC to do.

Full time here. So work all year round. Get 30 days holiday a year but I've used nearly all mine! Only got a few days booked off here and there through out the summer. Our students finished last Thursday so they get 8 weeks off. Nice to have a quiet school for 8 weeks!

We've got a few staff using it at the moment. We'll be rolling it out to all staff in September. It's been quite good so far. Had some hick-ups at the start but a few updates have been released and seems to be a lot more stable now. Rob

Can you give us a bit more information on what this means? Will Salamander sync SIMS classes with Google Classrooms? Kind Regards, Rob
