Hi, I think this question may have been answered before but I have looked and can't seem to find the full answer so apologies: I was using Apple Configurator 1.7 and redemption codes to manage around 40 iPad's, I now want to move to Apple Configurator 2 for these iPad's but am worried about losing money on the codes. Some of the iPad's have had to be wiped due to being disabled. What would be the best method to redeem the codes? My guess is that the iPad's will need to be physically plugged into Apple Configurator and removed, then I would have to contact Apple to change them from redemption codes to managed distribution, is this correct? All the iPad's are signed in using one iTunes account. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I work in schools and have been trying to figure out Apple Configurator 2 and along the way I have made some tutorial videos in the hope that they may help other people out and to try to remember what I did. I have tried to keep them as short and as precise as possible. So I thought I would post them here as they may help somebody out. Thanks Carl

Hi, our internet team have just have just implemented restricted mode on youtube, and since then we have no sound from Youtube and the sound icon is greyed out. We use Smoothwall. We are being told it is a desktop issue and nothing to do with the restricted mode set in Smoothwall We are using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11. If using Firefox the sound works Has anybody else came across this problem? Thanks

iPad signing in and out of iTunes issue
calexismedia replied to calexismedia's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Thanks I suspected it might have been the configurator settings so I deleted all the profiles and was still the same, and knowing how Apple works I obtained a brand new iPad and stayed away from configurator with it but was still unable to sign in, although it wasn't greyed out. I will ammend the configurator settings in the existing ones as I have set it to not allow modifications. I can always access the app store but because there is no Apple ID or it will not accept it it will not allow me to download any apps. I think it is as you say either the Smoothwall or Wifi is blocking it. Though on the Apple mac's which are WiFI I can download apps. Thank you again for your help I will look into our network rather than concentrate on the iPads. -
iPad signing in and out of iTunes issue
calexismedia replied to calexismedia's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Sorry what I mean is the iTunes account not iTunes. So yes Apple ID's seems to be the problem. I am unable to sign into the iPad using Apple ID's In some cases the sign in options are greyed out and in others where it does allow to sign in it takes the username and password but just hangs there and does nothing at all. When they are in that state it will not allow me to download any apps at all. Thank you for getting back to me -
Hi, We are having an issue with some of the iPads in schools. We use Smoothwall and Sophos and a proxy.pac file. The issue we are having is that some of the iPads are unable to download apps, I have worked it out that it is due to a problem signing in and out of iTunes but I can't figure out why. If I have an iPad and go to settings iTunes and it is greyed out I know it will not allow me to download any apps, in some cases as soon as I click on the iTunes tab the iPad freezes in that screen. This is happening with iPads that have been through configurator, iTunes or set up manually (using iTunes to authenticate as we cannot do it through smoothwall) The strange thing is if I take an iPad home and set it up or connect to iTunes it can then work when I take it back into the school. If I use my iPhone in the school it also works. It seems to be something to do with the initial connecting to apple to certify/verify the iTunes account once that is done it seems fine. I am just wondering if anybody has any idea why this would be happening? I can provide any further information if I have left anything out that might help. Thank you Carl

[ipad] Help on installing apps to multiple iPads
calexismedia replied to Vellocet's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I have made a really simple video on how to purchase apps using VPP because I found the whole VPP thing was a bit of a learning curve, but easy when you do it once or twice. I think though with Apple Configurator 2 you will need to choose managed distribution not redeemable codes. I haven't made a part 2 yet for this reason. -
[ipad] Apple Apps trying to charge £7.99 each
calexismedia replied to purpleoakley's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Don't know if you have tried it yet but if you go to the app store, scroll down to the bottom and choose iPad App Collections and then Apps Made by Apple. It should allow you to download them if the iPad was bought after September 2014 (I think that is the date) If not you can also plug them into iTunes and install the Apps you have downloaded like iMove, pages etc. You can also make sure they are registered with your iTunes account by going to supportprofile.apple.com and adding the serial numbers. Hope that helps. -
I have noticed as well that it is very buggy, pretty much the same results as you are getting. All settings are the same but it fails on some of the iPads. Hopefully there will be an update that will make it more stable. Thanks for the link I will try those steps next time.

I had same error message it was because I was not signed into iTunes and did not authorise the computer. See if that works for you.
