I would go chromebooks/chromeboxes maybe one to one devices with students. Only question is do you need sims and what do design/music/media need? You would save a lot of money on servers, windows machines, licensing etc. Fed up with Microsoft - spent ages working on win 10 also onedrive for business decides to stop working etc. etc. Google classroom is ahead of microsoft classroom that is also being messed with.

Wish we hadn't gone so far down the 365 route here - my old school has been using google classroom for years with no problems. Much prefer google - works better, clearer support and documentation. Onedrive is a PITA as is windows 10 - if I was setting a school up from scratch I would really consider chromebooks for majority of IT use now.

If it is bonjour it won't be listed as bonjour in services but some strange numbered service - probably first one in list of services - you can try disabling and restarting to see if it fixes it

have you got any old Adobe CS software installed? Had this with bonjour service causing problems quite a while ago.

If you want to generate templates then use https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/windows-assessment-deployment-kit rather than the link to the generator in the win 10 profiles post as that does not work with 1607 windows version

make sure you download the latest uev admx templates for windows 10 so you can apply from group policy. There will be then an option to "enable uev" on computers. The older admx templates did not have this - only "use user exeperience virtualisation"

I will post something if I ever get it working - working on a test machine but slow progress not helped by microsoft documentation

Is there an issue with build 1607 and start menu xml? Can get redirected start menu but not tiles through xml. Likewise have left it and will come back to it. Still trying to find time to play with UEV - don't find Microsoft documentation easy to use for any of this.

just had a look - can't tell if it contains serial number - this is version 3.2.4.0 it states created with the appdeploy repackager don't know much about how it was created as was done by someone else previously

we have got it in sccm - not sure what version -was not set up by me - msiexec /i "Unity Web Player.msi" /q is the install sequence

am posting solution to help others. Policy Central version 6 was the culprit - it conflicts with netsupport manager. This caues powerpoint and other office programs to hang. Solution is to install latest version of netsupport which has been patched up to prevent this.

We have had an issue gradually affecting students - windows 7/office 2013 When they click insert on powerpoint or word then it freezes - not responding. Only solution is to close it by task manager. Can insert new slide from home tab and then sometimes insert from insert menu works. This happens to admin users as well. Not sure what has changed. We have installed policy central v6 recently but I don't think it is this. Have tried disabling com add-ins. Could be an update? Anyone else come across this or any ideas? thanks Mark

warranties I need to add in. Costs - I am already employed by school - i can get quote for capita extended support contract but guessing it will be expensive. Should be able to manage it all in-house - that's what i have done at previous schools..

Help required - have tried google but resurrecting old thread - I have been asked to draw up a transition plan to move away from capita managed service to in-house service. Has anyone got a plan they can share? Have drawn up one but the college want more detail. Also attached plan if anyone has time to comment on it. Did it a few years ago - went ok though a bit nerve wracking - I would do it when you have a long holiday just in case. Only issue i had was cleaning up DNS a bit. If you have got MS exchange then I don't think you can do it. I followed guides off internet MS tech etc.

win 10 machine and office 2016 proving a PITA - life would be so much easier with a chromebox and google apps. Currently got onenote app and onenote 2016 showing as well as one drive getting mixed up between business and personal account. Trying to share notes for a meeting in outlook - have given up so teachers will have no chance.

did you manage to resolve this? I am having a few problems with windows 10 and users having to login to the portal rather than being authenticated.

If i was starting a network from scratch now I would go with Chromebooks/boxes and google apps. Windows 10 and office 365 are a PITA and poor support from microsoft with configuration and solutions to problems.

At my previous school virtually all staff used outlook with the sync tool with no problem.

according to onelan support - most streaming services require drivers or plugins that the Webkit browser in the NTB cannot support. So it seems it can't be done - maybe have to investigate a TV card.

trying to get this working - created bbcnews html page as above and uploaded it to onelan box - when it plays on one lan box it shows warning about java and flash - can't see how to alter anything on box to allow this. Looking on onelan help i see:The NTB displays HTML using the WebKit browser engine for Linux. (The Apple Safari and Google Chrome browsers also use the WebKit engine.) WebKit supports web pages including JavaScript® and Adobe Flash but not ActiveX®. Any ideas how to get it to play?
