  1. So if we had data dedup running and we told users to right click the folder and always keep on this device. Effectively we always have a copy held locally for each user but would only take the space once? I'm trying to move my schools to the cloud and this seems the most gentle way of doing it!
  2. Hi yes would be a sharepoint folder within office 365 but was in file explorer for all staff within school on domain joined machines. We'd want that to be stored on a central share where we set the files to be always available.
  3. Teachers be like..
  4. So through GPO can we set the sharepoint folders to be held locally on a network share, we don't want staff to have to individually sync these. This would be for machines on the domain. At home staff have their own persoanl devices so could choose what to sync etc. We would enforce restrictions at home so they couldn't copy to local storage etc.

  6. Most cost effective upgrade would be an ssd with an adapter bracket for around £30 - £35 depending on supplier etc. Give them a good clean out whilst open and away you go for another 5 years! Always do a test on one pc and compare the performance gains. I wouldn't worry about any extra RAM either. Dell might not support Windows 10 on that machine but you may still find it works quite happily as long as you can find the drivers.
  7. The government already hold the info for my real passport, driving licence, pension etc. They wouldn't be getting any more info would they?
  8. I think as a parent I'd have no problem signing up if it meant my children used a service where everyone there was a real person and answerable to their actions.
  9. Yes all this will do is push unders 16s to use less secure services that are even more open to abuse!
  10. I'm NM of eight schools and over the years we have had a few audits done by external companies and it's actually been quite useful. In most cases it's backed up what I've been telling the school for years. Teachers are inspected and observed all of the time so asking the same of the NM doesn't seem too much of a problem to me. Ultimately I'm an employee of the school and if I'm not doing my job, they want to know about it. I've also visited a few other schools to give help and advice etc.
  11. Yes it's ridiculous like all these things. Easily bypassed by changing your DOB. We all need some sort of verified digital passport. You should only sign up for these services with one! Unless something like this gets introduced it's all just a waste of time and children will still be exposed to content they should not be seeing!

  13. Can we create this? I want to move our shares to sharepoint. What I want to have in school for staff is something that would look exactly the same as it currently does, or as close as possible. Can I then have the folder in school set to "always keep on this device" that way users won't have to use up bandwidth or wait an extra second or two. This way we keep staff happy in school and give them all the benefits of cloud access when they are working at home etc. Any help much appreciated.
  14. I'm guessing unless there is another piece of local software that you can use other than AC2 it would have to be an MDM solution. Most development in management is going into MDM not locally hosted. We have moved from AC2 to MDM at all my sites and all it's done is solve all of the problems we had with AC2.
  15. I think we found the same from memory. When the ipads came back in we had to refresh them to get the screen back how we wanted it. It was one of the reasons we moved to mdm. It might be something that they sort in a later version of AC. We use Meraki MDM, think you can get a free trial and try on one device and see if it does what you want. There are also plenty of free MDM solutions out there. https://meraki.cisco.com/blog/2017/01/instant-systems-manager-free-30-day-trials/
  16. Are you specifying a home screen layout in configurator? It's been a while since I used it but I know with our MDM you can't rearrange the screen. https://help.apple.com/configurator/mac/2.7/#/cadbf9c2a0
  17. You can set the speaker volume to as loud as you think is reasonable then staff can adjust on the output source so no need to adjust the speaker.
  18. We have these across all my sites. No frills sound, and reasonably priced.
  19. Yes wouldn't be surprised to see more companies part ways with social media. And yes the app is great!
  20. It would probably be ok if they were accounts you had control of. If they were personal accounts what controls do you have on the data when a member of staff leaves etc?
  21. OP says screen damaged so assume it would be something not covered under warranty.
  22. We have the username and password for the supply 1-10 accounts on cards in the office. They hand these out and get them returned when staff leave at the end of the day with their lanyard. They have no email access etc.
  23. We use loxit and they don't protrude too far out... https://loxit.com/product-category/led-lcd-mounts/screen-mounts/led-lcd-wall-to-floor-mounts/
