  1. A fix is being actively trialled and is looking positive. Customers with the issue will soon be contacted and given some options to resolve the issue.
  2. Smart repsonse is here, if you have registered a helpdesk ticket SMART will be in touch with you directly. Summary Important issue affecting SMART Board GX (V1) interactive displays following the recent over-the-air (OTA) update.  Attachment Details An important issue is affecting some SMART Board GX (V1) interactive displays following a recent over-the-air (OTA) update to software version 2.6.23 on July 7, 2024. Despite rigorous and successful internal testing, the update has led to a number of GX (V1) displays no longer showing an image when turned on. These units are now effectively non-functional. This software update was immediately removed from our global OTA servers, and no further action is needed by customers to avoid this issue. Less than 0.5% of GX (V1) displays in the field were put at risk by this software update, and not all units exhibit the problem...
  3. The update that was released was just for the GXV1.
  4. Hi Both, hopefully you have both registered this with SMART and will receive support asap, please feel free to contact me if you need anything and I'll try and pass over any info. "We understand that you are experiencing a blank screen after the recent 4K2.6.23 OTA update. Our team is actively investigating this issue, and we will provide you with more information as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have temporarily disabled the OTA update to prevent further inconvenience. We appreciate your patience and understanding"
  5. We solved all of our Dynabook and Geobooks issues in one go...we binned them!
  6. So after supporting a cluster of schools In Southsea for the last 22 years, plus an additional six in another role I'm finally leaving. I'll be taking up a new position with SMART Technologies from Monday the 4th. I'm effectively doing the same job, which is supporting teachers in their adoption of new technologies whilst supporting existing customers. Bit of a change to say the least!!! I'll be covering the South of England plus London. You'll also see me at trade shows all over the country. I'd just like to thank everyone for all of their help over the years, and just making me feel part of a wider community. You don't always have to be a massive contributor to feel part of the community. Lots of us can feel quite isolated at times and having Edugeek there over the years has been really helpful. I wish everyone well, and hopefully after a few hurdles have been cleared I may well be back.
  7. Good video here from Andy Malone and Jeremy Chapman from Microsoft.
  8. We went with DELL direct for this. I assumed when we were in need of any assistance with the server, and we needed to contact DELL, I'd want the process to be as smooth as possible. I'd probably be dealing with anothers stress at that point.
  9. Not sure there are many enterprise solutions that tick that box but something like the Amazon Blink cameras only need batteries and last up to two years. Not sure how compliant they are on a GDPR front etc.
  10. They've left a bit of wiggle room with the use of the word "capacity". It still does state "deliver 1Gbps download and upload speed" so that would be the bit I'd be asking suppliers for.
  11. I know this doesn't help but whoever suggested moving the school to the cloud without upgrading the connection and giving the school a backup connection feels like a mistake to me. DFE guidelines are here and ideally what you should be looking at as an absolute minimum. The guidelines are probably also based on just internet use, not for a school that's pretty much serverless by the sound of it. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/meeting-digital-and-technology-standards-in-schools-and-colleges/broadband-internet-standards-for-schools-and-colleges
  12. It could be the Meraki list is showing all apps that come with all IOS versions. Newer apps may only have come in with IOS 17 which would show in the list, but if the Ipads haven't updated they won't have them on the actual device.
  13. If they're built-in Apple apps we normally just hide them.
  14. Yes had just read that, very sad. I used to love Drop the Dead Donkey ;-(
  15. Smart Notebook 23.1 is out now. Is your issue specific to a version number, or random versions?
  16. We had this at two sites and nothing but frustration for staff. Since they switched to Arbor a few years ago they both been a lot happier and learning curve didn't seem that high as they all quickly grasped the changes.
  17. I'd say Lattitude all the way. They are manufactured to a higher standard with metal hinges etc. You also get much longer driver support.
  18. The DFE would contact the school directly. you would only get contacted if your school or LA was in the next wave. Does your school meet any of the criteria here... https://www.gov.uk/guidance/connect-the-classroom#who-can-take-part
  19. Connect the classroom is effectively a wifi project. The other items that are getting replaced are generally to accommodate the deeper switches that the DFE has specified, or where needed to consolidate several smaller cabinets into one. New cabling again is only installed to deliver the DFE specification of multigigabit to the APs or 10gig links between the cabinets. Where the project touches WIFI you will see investment. UPS would not come under that. I think the DFE would rightly say the schools are getting enough from these projects, I know we are!
  20. We had this last week when we were testing "shared Ipad" mode. When we switched back to our normal ADE profile it worked as expected and we didn't see that message.
  21. Just visit here and sign in https://support.rm.com/ your school would need some sort of active rm contract to get access to this. Feel free to PM me if you need a hand with anything
  22. All the ones we had recently have standard kettle leads and you can order as height adjustable as well.
  23. You can just allocate them the free licenses.
  24. If your school gets selected for Connect The Classroom funding in a year or two your devices would miss out on the WiFI 6 from the DFE.
