  2. A few of my schools clicked the link and were then surprised to see this as a costed option. Very sneaky IMO.
  3. The DFE has to approve the submissions. They know that some schools will try and take the mickey, they will have their submissions rejected and will have to resubmit. The DFE has a rough idea of what each school would require. They also know what hardware the majority of schools are ordering. Schools can only purchase hardware that matches the DFE criteria. This is a 10-year solution for schools so needs to provide for the future, not now. We already have some WiFi 6 APs and as part of our submissions, we aim to re-use this in quieter areas to keep the costs to the DFE down.
  4. Schools don't apply for funding for this scheme. If you are eleigible you will be directly contacted by the DFE. Is your LA listed here? https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1063088/Priority_EIA_selection_methodology_FINAL.pdf You can also email here to check [email protected]
  5. That is sad. She had a tough job following Shelley Long in Cheers. I enjoyed the episodes she was in and will remember her with great fondness, Cheers.
  6. Just found this as well. Entering DFU Mode NOTE: If you are using a USB-C cable to enter DFU mode, it might not work. If this happens, you need to use the normal USB cable. You can use a normal USB cable and a USB to USB-C adapter. I've always done both buttons for DFU as per this article https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/DFU_Mode
  7. Have you tried with another cable as well? I've had issues with the odd non-apple lead that won't get the device into DFU mode.
  8. If you create the ini file correctly all this information will be auto imported and you won't end up with two packages.
  9. Application Wizard is not needed, just grab the MSI and import it into CC4 with a package ini file. For the last adobe package we made we created a transform file so it just updated itself so have never needed to update it manually. If you can access rm.com they have a full pdf on how to create packages here. CC4 packaging guide Published Date : 20 Feb 2013 Last Updated : 19 Oct 2021 Content Ref: DWN3152898 Also this for wsus which is all automated on CC4 so if clients aren't getting updates or wsus isn't synching to Microsoft they have a tool... Index article for WSUS on Community Connect 4 Published Date : 25 Feb 2016 Last Updated : 27 Jan 2022 Content Ref: TEC5026777 what the tool does... The Community Connect® 4 (CC4) WSUS health check tool is a collection of PowerShell scripts that perform a number of common troubleshooting steps for WSUS implementations on CC4 networks. The tool is made up of a number of scripts that will perform a number of checks as follows: Checks the Windows services related to WSUS. Checks the update classification options selected within WSUS. Checks the update product category options selected within WSUS. Checks the language settings selected within WSUS. Checks the automatic approval rules within WSUS. Checks the proxy settings specified for WSUS. Checks for and declines approved updates that are now superseded. Checks for any Microsoft hotfixes that are required to improve the stability of WSUS. Checks the WSUS AppPool settings specified within Internet Information Services (IIS). Checks for CC4 software updates (CC4UPDs) necessary for WSUS. Checks for duplicate CC4 WSUS scheduled tasks being created. Checks the scheduled times that WSUS will synchronise with the Microsoft and RM servers. Checks the scheduled times that client devices will synchronise with the WSUS server. Installs Microsoft Report Viewer 2012 if required. Runs a comprehensive WSUS clean up script. Note: This tool is only supported on a CC4.5 (Windows Server 2012 R2) or CoP (Windows Server 2016 or 2019) CC4 First server. Currently, it's not supported on multi-site networks.
  10. Where is this info coming from?
  11. Just to add a different viewpoint. I manage 8 CC4 sites with a single technician. The cost to each site from RM is £1200. For that, we get unlimited support plus access to downloads of packaged software. We also pay a few hundred pounds at each site to allow us to build as many machines onto the system as possible. For us, it's a cost-effective solution. We still have two sites on server 2012 and these will be migrated by RM before their end-of-support date which is October 2023. RM have been warning schools about cut-off dates for servers since Server 2000 went EOL, but they can't force a school to spend money. Also, I've never seen RM push Papercut so it's not a solution they support so would have been down to the school to update, as we do. We're also working with RM to Migrate all of our schools to 365\Intune\azure as mentioned by @jthornton1605 as for schools this size it's the right solution now.
  12. Jigsaw24 Just use the chat function and you'll get a quote asap.
  13. There is a tool for checking permissions here as well. https://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/products/computing/peripheral/scanners/scansnap/faq/setting013.html
  14. Hi Jonathan, Does it need full access to a folder on the C: drive to function? Where does the software install to as well?
  15. I've seen it just with our small IT Dept share as well.
  16. We've been having lots of these reports over the last few weeks. When a user presses refresh they all re-appear.
  17. Dell Vostro's are Dell's home use range and not built to the same standard as latitudes. Vostro uses plastic hinges compared to the metal ones used on latitudes. You also get longer driver support with latitude etc.
  18. My Primary sites are backing up to their legacy RDX drives which are swapped once a week and stored in a Fire Proof (data safe) with at least two fire doors between the server. We have Veeam cloud backups into Immutable storage. Where sites have Synology Nas we back up to those as well, and then the Synology is always backed up to another Synology box again, this is also at least two fire doors away from the other Nas. Anything that could be improved upon?
  19. Does anyone know if you can do this for office 365 as well?
  20. FYI Compliance with the DfE Generic Design Brief specifications (November 2021) Ubiquiti The following document explains where Ubiquiti Wi-Fi products currently do not meet the DfE specification for wireless networks for new or refurbished schools building projects. Standard: 4.7.2.3 An enterprise-level wireless solution shall be provided which shall support a high number and high density of educational users by: a) Maximising the bandwidth between the Access Point (AP) and the switch providing a minimum of 2.5Gb bandwidth per AP. [Pr_70_75_52_42] Rational for not meeting the standard: The Ubiquiti Wifi 6 access points support a 1Gb network interface, and therefore do not meet the specification. Whilst the access point can operate at claimed speeds of up to 4.8Gbps in the 5GHz range, the slower physical network interface connection creates a bottleneck when moving large amounts of traffic from the wireless to the wired network. Standard: 4.7.2.3 An enterprise-level wireless solution shall be provided which shall support a high number and high density of educational users by: k) Having a manufacturer warranty and support arrangement (telephone, email and web) including, but not limited to, licences, software enhancements and firmware updates, providing 5 years of cover as a minimum. [PM_10_20_82] Rational for not meeting the standard: Ubiquiti provide a 1-year hardware warranty and not the required 5 years. Ubiquiti provide limited direct support. Instead, their model is based around partners providing support, which is often in the form of the online community. Web support is provided for hardware claims, but limited direct phone or email facilities exist.
  21. If you've already got Aruba switches it would make sense to stick with Aruba otherwise you'll have a dashboard for one set of hardware, and another one for the rest of your kit.
  22. Not free but not a fortune either and a one-off cost. https://www.airserver.com/Buy/Education
  23. Well said.
  24. We have the license on a shared drive similar to @Oaktech for staff to connect to. You can download the software from below and just unzip the software to get the msi file for deployment. https://junipereducation.org/targettracker/download-targettracker/
