  1. Cheers! Very informative! Were trying out Profile Manager at the moment, and its pants. It wont send the payloads to the devices, even after opening ports. Its a bit of a nightmare!
  2. Please can someone give me the pro's and cons of each!
  3. Are we talking expensive for Lightspeed?
  4. Hi all, 50 iPads on site and we need a comprensive way of remote management. Looked at Meraki but does not fit our needs (We want something on site), Looked at Profile Manager and nearly died. (Its rubbish), so a few questions... What are you using to manage your iPads as they make their way into the school environment? If your using cloud based management, why did you go for that over on-site? What iOS Deployment Model are you using (Personal, Institutional or Layered)? If you are using a multi-user senario, what are you using for File Management? And where do you see the future going and/or what would you like to see in iOS 7 At lot of people are having to start managing these things now, so lets hear what you have! EDIT: I am a confident in PHP and C#, so I could most likely build a PHP MDM Payload...
  5. I agree, im pulling my hair out trying to get Profile Manager to work, its really shocking, Apple put no thought into management and enterprise of these things, but are so keen to push it to Schools.
  6. We use the Forefront iPad cases, very nice and have a stand.
  7. VB and VBA should be available as a MSI from M$
  8. Great. At least I had Battlefield 3 for Free as I was a SimCity disaster case.
  9. We only use x64, you get the flexibility then to install more than 4GB
  10. The Apple iOS in Education guide is very helpful, I recommend a read.
  11. Very nice, I would personally use SNMP instead of cURL though.
  12. It works great here, I can sit in my office and do the work
  13. Sorry to bump up this thread... In answer to anyone exploring the possibilities of a multi-user iPad environment approach, then I may have the answer for you. We are also deploying iPads, not on the scale of what is mentioned here but a small scale to begin with. We are using Meraki to manage the devices and turning on restrictions locally on the devices along with supervising them. We are currently exploring the possibility of building an application that connects via SMB to the Windows Network. So far if your in an application, click Share and tap on the Network one and users are prompted to Login via AD and then the work is shared to their Home Areas on the Windows Network. Its far easier than installing Dropbox and other 3rd party solutions when you can build your own to interface with your own network, thus using your own services. Its still in the developmental stages as I don't really know much Objective C (Still learning). Just thought I would share what we are doing with others.
  14. Meraki - Free.
  15. We have some of these laptops in deployment at the moment, Wireless works fine. Takes a while to connect sometimes, but that might be our DHCP not giving it an IP address instantly
  16. How many iPads are you using with your Apple ID? Just out of curiosity as some people say its limited to 10 per ID
  17. Hi, We have 1 Apple ID and we have been using Meraki to push applications to the devices, BUT we dont want Teachers and Students to be able to install Apps from the App Store. But when we push out an app using Meraki the end user has to type in the Apple ID password, and for obvious reasons, we dont give this out to anyone. Any solution, or this another apple driven thing so they can control the world?
  18. Now there are some issues here, If you have added the restriction to Disable installation of Apps, then you cannot remotely push out apps. Its pretty stupid and hopefully Apple will give us better MDM support in iOS 7
  19. What Data are we talking in? CSVs etc?
  20. ESTJ - Aww
