Did any of you guys get anywhere with this? We are having this issue currently...

Hi All, I currently have two nodes running in a Server 2008 R2 Cluster and the time has come to rollup to Server 2012 R2. There doesn't seem to be a simple solution to this, despite a bit of hunting around. I am proposing to do the following: Live Migrate all VM’s to Node 1. Evict Node 2 From the Cluster Removing Clustering Role from Node 2 Complete in place Upgrade on Node 2 Install New Cluster on Node 2 Migrate Existing Cluster on Node 1 to Node 2 (Inc VM’s) Destroy Old Cluster on Node 1 Remove Clustering Role from Node 1 Complete in place Upgrade on Node 1 Install Clustering Role on Node 1 Add Node 1 to New Cluster on Node 2 Can anyone see any issue with this? It appears you can In-Place upgrade from Server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 R2 providing the Clustering Service roll is not installed (https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/chrisavis/2013/10/01/performing-an-in-place-upgrade-of-server-2008-r2-to-server-2012-r2/) & (https://support.microsoft.com/en-ae/help/935197/you-cannot-upgrade-the-operating-system-of-a-clustered-server-from-win). It also appears you can migrate the 2008 R2 Cluster to 2012 R2 using the Cluster Migration Wizard (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/clustering/2012/06/25/how-to-move-highly-available-clustered-vms-to-windows-server-2012-with-the-cluster-migration-wizard/) I want to use the In Place upgrade feature so as to retain the networking configuration as the nodes each have a number of connections and there are 4 different networks configured within Hyper-V Any Ideas or suggestions very welcome. Hi All I'm trying to go ahead and get our SIMS / FMS / Discover databases migrated to SQL 2012 from SQL 2008. I'm using the SIMS SQL Server 2012 Migration tool and following the supplied guidelines. However I'm getting stuck at an early stage as I'm getting the following message at the select databases to migrate page: The selected SIMS and Discover databases must be those used by the Discover services on this machine. Now as far as I'm aware both the selected databases are the only databases available and I am performing the migration on the server which has both databases installed. Has anyone had this problem? or know where to start to fix. Until I can get rid of this error the next button is not available. Any help gladly appreciated Cheers andyi

Hi All Does anyone have the above part sitting in their cupboards somewhere. I have just had a board fail due to a broken 9 Pin connection on the board. I know these are pretty ancient now but I'm loathed to retire it just yet.... Anyone??

so when you use both versions, how do you have a consistent start menu for both for users? As i though that the program locations would be different for 32bit applications on 64bit. i.e C:\program files vs C:\program files (x86)??

Hi We are about to begin our changeover to windows 7, are people using x86 or x64? What are the main advantages or either version. All our pc's have a maximum of 4gb of RAM. Any advice please. Cheers Andy
