  1. If you're struggling for things to put on it, you're trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. When there's a need, do it: until then, nobody will read it anyway.
  2. Be aware that adtool in Ubuntu Jaunty suffers from LP:209315, which is fixed in the version in Karmic (which releases in about ten days, so you can probably risk dist-upgrading now if you feel like it ) APT is possibly the most powerful package manager you will ever use: try aptitude search photo and aptitude show rednotebook for high-abstraction examples. (Install aptitude if it isn't already )
  3. That machine is an Atom, yes, but there are plenty of others.
  4. I have one of these for a router: mini-itx.com - store - Intel Atom Mini-ITX Case, RAM & HDD Bundle
  5. That's not the problem in question - the OP wants to watch a session in progress, like Remote Assistance does.
  6. In the local registry: Key: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop Value name: Wallpaper Value type: REG_SZ Data: Path to wallpaper in bitmap format
  7. Before prompting for a password (so yes, somebody could click OK and then walk away, and then the next person doesn't see it). You could always put it on the login wallpaper.
  8. If you set the AUP thingy in group policy it still shows up if you disable ctrl-alt-del.
  9. awesomes! rep++ Although both you and they have way too much time...
  10. There's more than one? Greedy !
  11. If you didn't already, push your settings to clients using group policy and make sure 'Computer authentication with user re-authentication' is set. Otherwise you might just have a slow AP or adaptor and need to set 'wait for the network when applying policies'.
  12. That's up to you and your institution to decide.
  13. arrrrrrgh, it burns!
  14. Probably Intel vPro.
  15. Terminal servers. Edit: good point. Rawns, you are still wasting your time.
  16. To be fair, AVP2010's stock infection technique is drive-by-downloads, so you probably need to blame your content filter more than your firewall.
  17. Don't. Memory4Teachers are all over the web promising the world and failing, it's not your fault.
  18. Hmm, I may consider drafting an email that we* can 'sign'. *that is, anyone who cares enough, which is currently me.
  19. It is spyware ('to pervent'?), and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is the only thing I have found to clean it off reliably. (It's Antivirus Pro 2010 btw, which of course is a complete hypocrisy.)
  20. I love reverse-engineering at lunchtime
  21. Right, after some digging through some truly baffling policy templates, the key you're looking for appears to be a DWORD value called Shadow at: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services Values: 0: No remote control allowed 1: Full Control with user's permission 2: Full Control without user's permission 3: View session with user's permission 4: View session without user's permission But if you set this with a script, the policy engine is going to come along and change it during a user session anyway, so I still think you're wasting your time.
  22. Right, I'm dragging this thread up again to complain about more spam, about Morrison's gardening equipment this time. Has anyone else had it?
  23. No it doesn't, this is the whole point of group policy. On each domain, create a policy object and apply to it everything. Every machine will pick it up without any further effort from you.
