The standard of moderation required by amazon, etc. would require massive resources that conveniently would stop any new social network from becoming competition.

I'm rolling out the secondary students policy in teams (at last!) I have the "all students" security group from SDS and I am using the group policy assignment from the Teams Admin Centre. I'm applying the policy under each of the categories, messaging, meetings and voice. I wasn't sure if the policy covered all of these or if all of them were necessary. anyone?

I think that walkie talkies have an unmatched robustness and are dedicated to their task, this makes them unrivalled in trust. I've seen strange outages on mobile networks updates that break apps, maybe that you were unaware of until you needed it. if my life was on the line I'd take a walkie talkie.

Yes, I made a 32bit "PXE instead" usb boot drive. This was for our old tablets, boot from the usb and then install from the WDS server as per usual.

All ios devices can create a mesh network (used to last time I looked) and there was an app called I think firechat that was made for festivals and the like with no connectivity available.

Done, found it, looked like a powershell dig through but turned out easier than expected. The user already had calendar editor permissions but we had to do this another way. Rather than clicking on the properties of the calendar and granting permissions. (how we used to do it) The fix: log in to Teams and outlook, go to outlook and go to the account and use the delegate permissions button, delegate to assistant and have editor selected in the calendar box. (default) That's it, it wouldn't seem any different but it is. Now the assistant can create teams meetings in a shared calendar.

We've started creating teams meetings via outlook. Staff need to set meetings on a shared calendar but get a permissions error. They have full editing permissions for the calendar. They get the error from Microsoft Teams "looks like you don't have permission to schedule meetings for this account. Talk to the owner to get permission and try again." Any idea where I'd do this?

I'd of thought an MDM policy would be enough, ensure remote wipe is available and the device is password protected. This should be enough.

it may not boot as it detects that the fan isn't spinning but usually just warns you at boot. CPUs will throttle and shutdown if they overheat but maybe months of running at 90+ would kill it... if it wont turn on from cold, I'd walk away.

got a Optoma DC300i without a remote and it's great for a 9 year old device using it as a web camera in windows 10 but would like to use the software so I can flip the image etc. I can't get the "Visualizer" software does anyone know where I can get it? (if it even works in windows 10?) or is there a better opensource visualiser software that'll control the device (exposure etc.) I was wondering if the software for a newer one like the DC450 would work?! cheers £40 on ebay visualizers are either out of stock or £££ quid at the moment. Does anyone have a recommendation that is as good as the DC450 (the one we wanted but can't get)

Headsets can have different qualities... I have 3 bluetooth headsets 2 of them sound terrible 8Khz mono, sounds like old school telephone. 1 of my headsets sounds way better, not the mic but it sounds like a usb headset does. (still not great mic, but isn't in 8khz) I can't find info on a HSP profile is high quality or not but the difference is stark.

Windows 10 has an easy mode Kiosk mode built in now. Make a Kiosk user and give them chrome and a url and bam full screen chrome no logon needed, CTRL+ALT+DEL to login as a normal user.

I had the school Budget the Docks separately to the laptops. I had the docking stations classed as Multimedia and charged them to the rooms MM Budget. (same as speakers and projector) This may help The HP G5 docks I have also work with the dynabook laptops (picture and charge), as long as the laptop you purchase supports DP-alt mode over usb-c you could get any dock you like. This is what attracted me to USB-C I can get different laptops next year and still keep the old docks. I believe I can also use an ipad-pro and a macbook with the dock. (untested)

I don't mind teachers installing from the M$ store. They are vetted and can update without permissions. Appdata installs allow Teams to be installed without needing me. I'm not sure how vulnerable a PC is in this config though. This is the M$ default so I (assume) it's ok. The pupil PCs however are not allowed to execute outside of the programfiles.

This is the default on Android 11 as well, my Pixel2 XL is doing this also. My iphone SE was having trouble with guest access but it can be turned off. Fine for personal devices but what a pain for managed!
