  1. Heres a screenshot of what the user has licensed. Im sure i should be able to Activate Office for iPad with that selection. Ive tried with 2 users now.
  2. When Word, Excel, Powerpoint for iPad was released we got it working with our dummy student account to see how it worked. That was months ago, now i've come back to it and it all seems to have changed. It says my Office 365 plan doesn't include editing when i go to activate. Which is confusing because i aint changed anything. So i have gone into the Office 365 and checked what licences the user is allocated. I've noticed a new one called 'Office Online' under the A2 Student option. So ticked that & sharepoint. Office 365 ProPlus for Students is also ticked, so i should be able to Edit on the iPad?
  3. We use this to make all our networked Ricoh printers be seen by the iPads Enable iOS AirPrint Support on Windows Apple TVs to project from the iPads/Macs Windows file shares we normally just get them to remote to Terminal box, but as has been said you could you WebDev, so the iPads have been designed for what you want, Printing, Fileshares and Projecting.
  4. We use it, don't have to restart the computer. I like it when you modify the dock as it disappears then pops back up.
  5. Anybody running RemoteFX and if so what graphics card? Im looking at Microsoft list GPU Requirements for RemoteFX on Windows Server 2012 R2 - Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services) Team Blog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs All the graphics cards they have listed are out of stock where i was going to buy (overclockers as they are a 5 min drive away) , but I'm guessing as long as its Direct X 11 and WDDM 1.2 it will work? I was thinking this one? EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Classified ACX Dual Bios 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (04G-P4-3778-KR) [04G-P4-3778-KR]
  6. Have you tried it with anti virus disabled on both the client and server? Realtime protection in these antivirus programs can sometimes cause big performance hits.
  7. With regards to iPads, we don't use proxies here, but its still a filtered connection. We assign an IP reservation for each iPad on the DHCP server and our router logs all traffic requests to the cloud and we can search those logs by device ip or website. Thats using FortiGate as our router and using their Forticloud service. Best i could come up with , and no worse than what we had 10 years ago on our Windows boxes with regard to internet logging.
  8. We just got some old netbooks from the store room , fresh installed Windows XP on them , then removed the hard disk, ram. We then asked them to put it back together , connect it to the WiFi, manually configure the IP details to the static address we specify on the sheet, then download the display drivers and install them. Used this in 2 interviews and on both occasions more than half did not know how to manually specify an IP address, i was gob smacked. They would be going to Internet Explorer, Internet Options everywhere but the network control panel.
  9. We just have a separate VLAN for the guest WiFi, on a separate SSID with a captive portal on Ruckus. Any staff member can connect their personal phones, tablets to it and login using their Active Directory login for our domain, or we can generate a guest pass. That way if there is something nasty it won't touch the main network, and we also have Fortigate checking all traffic on the separate VLAN for malware/viruses so we can see if something with an infection is on.
  10. The Pro/Workstation versions have a limit of 10 connections, so some how you are hitting that. At least it was in the NT4/Windows 2000 days.
  11. We have 30+ Apple TVs here, we use the wired ethernet though to help reduce the amount of wireless traffic. The remotes are in our office as they are not needed once setup. The Apples TVs switch them selfs on and off and since we Airplay everything to them i don't see why the remote would be needed.
  12. We use Deploy Studio, then Munki to roll out all the other things that get updated lots like flash.
  13. Rather annoying article and action. First off there are no 'healthy' foods. Their are Healthy and Unhealthy diets. (My health would be dire if i only ate Apples and nothing but, yet I'm sure Apples would be in the healthy food category) People are overweight because they are consuming more energy then they need, wether that energy comes from an apple, carrot, slice of bread or a chocolate bar, consistently consume more than your body requires and you will gain weight. Thats where the obesity problem has come from as we don't need anywhere near as much energy as we did as we drive everywhere now and a lot of people will not even walk across the car park to the supermarket doors and circle the first few rows of the car park trying to close as park to the door as possible they are so bone idle. Attacking the industry that makes treats is not going to solve the problem, if you ever watch Super Fat vs Super Skinny on Channel 4 you will often see the stick thin person living off sweets, normal pop, and biscuits and rarely eating any food of good nutritional value, they have shit skin as a result because there health is bad, but it proves the point that that so called 'junk food' does not make you over weight. Don't even get me started on diets or diet clubs like Slimming World or Weight Watchers they are more dangerous than smoking to the nations health, luckily after spending most of my life overweight and being brainwashed by the diet industry and diet clubs (yes i was stupid enough to go to Slimming world at some point) i finally woke up to it all and am now the lightest and thinest i have ever been in my adult life and i have normal coke now (not that diet, low sugar crap full of artificial sweeteners), consume chocolate when i want and don't feel guilty for it i have mcdonalds and takeaways and don't feel like i cheated, down from 19st to 12st in 2.5 years, and from 42" to 33" waist. Nothing winds me up like news/articles like this one, as it re-enforces whats wrong with the whole diet mentality and what kept me over weight for years.
  14. I thought this picture was interesting, http://9to5mac.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/macbook-vs-surface-3.png?w=1408&h=776 They conveniently forgot to add the keyboard cover to make it a fair comparison to the Macbook Airs weight, after all the Air has a keyboard. Im sure the scales will tip the other way when they do. I will keep my iPad and Macbook Air thanks. The Surface 3 weighs double that of an iPad Air, so not going to be as comfortable to hold with that weight. Too many trade offs. Im not a fan of these hybrid devices.
  15. I can type on my iPad almost as fast i can on a normal keyboard, so note taking of them is very easy, and an even more productive device now Office for iPad is available. The iPad has only been around 4 years with others following shortly after so Tablets are still maturing. I would still take a Macbook Air instead though. Longer battery life, bigger screen, faster, more flexible, and not that much bigger/heaver , the 11" air is only 400g heavier than iPad Air.
  16. All our Staff laptops support AC , but we have Ruckus and i do not think they have Wireless AC Access Points yet.
  17. Insight from TASC Software allows you to have the SIMS reports as part of the data parents can see when they login.
  18. Yes you can do this. We have Profile Manager on OS X Server 10.9 using iOS 7.1 iPads and we can silently push apps to Apple ID's which are in turn logged into our iPads.
  19. Im confused by this, because the only time i would want to mirror i want both the iPad screen and the TV/Projector on at the same time. If I'm just watching BBC iPlayer or Netflix on my iPad i Airplay it to the TV then click the home button and carry on using it for something else while it plays the video or i can lock the screen and leave it playing.
  20. On Mavericks i just enabled the root account, then created a new user, got it how i wanted , logged in as root and copied the contents of that user profile to /System/Library/User Template . I then emptied the contents of the Key Chains folder in the User Template/Library folder to stop the keychain nagging at login.
  21. If it was me i would just wipe the whole thing and do a fresh if its playing games since re-installing the OS is such a quick job on OS X. Then just redownload the server.app from the app store.
  22. Are you wanting to wipe the Mac and start from scratch?
  23. The full sims app via Remote Desktop using microsofts official rdp app in cursor mode we find the best experience.
  24. Mac Mini is very cheap (for a mac), when you knock off VAT and put the edu discount on. You do get some subject specific program's like garage band that are Apple platform only. So cost wise if you do the mini route I doubt there will be too much difference price wise and you keep the department happy. I doubt a basic PC running windows will be suitable and at the least may need a dedicated sound card as last time we used on board sound cards we had to put creative labs cards in the machines due to latency in Cubase.
  25. Ruckus do an Admin tool which is useful for stats if you have Ruckus.
