It just feels good to see even Bill Gates go through what we have at some point when Windows would just not install.... unfortunately we never had the CEO of Microsoft to hand to help. Gates Spends Entire First Day Back in Office Trying to Install Windows 8.1 : The New Yorker

With the PS3 you could play all PS1/PS2 and PS3 games on 1 console if it was a certain model, if not PS1 and PS3 games, so all had some backward compatability. Xbox 360 could play some Xbox games. The Wii could play Gamecube games Now we have PS4, currently only plays PS4 games, Xbox One, only plays Xbox One games, so i am wondering if people will be hanging onto the previous generation this time because they cannot play their exitsing collection on it. (I know something is coming for Playstation for backwards compatability but it aint here yet)

Has anybody here got Google Munki working? Im a little confused when installing it and going through the configuration. It says it works on a web server, but then when you go to run the config tool it asks for the SMB path. Im a bit puzzled, because if its web based it should be using HTTP no SMB. Googles documentation are not that clear with that part.

Just after what people think are great local multiplayer games? Use to be into my gaming a lot but it seems to have died up years ago, but i miss the mates round, 4 controllers , beers , pizza and playing a game. The current and last gen consoles seem at best poor for this. (PS3/PS4/Xbox360/XboxOne). Seems to be more aimed at single player or online play now, and i miss the social side of it, and a lobby with 13 year olds playing rap music down the mic aint my idea of fun. Goldeneye Reloaded looks decent for 4 player split screen, and Blur too. Use to enjoy Mashed years ago. Does not matter what console or how old as I'm just gonna go on ebay and buy whatever console cheap (although i only have a PS3 and Wii at the moment as second 360 died) just name some decent games to play as a group.

A MacBook Air , Bootcamped with Windows on and a Thunderbolt VGA adaptor if you need to test a projector. You should be able to get it for around £700 without VAT for the 13.3" Air. The Air is the most amazing laptop i've ever used or owned.

I still carry an iPod and an iPhone. I like them separate too. I change my phone more than my iPods so i just stick with the base model iPhones and get bigger iPods.

I aint that concerned, my dads an ATM engineer and you should be more concerned about people putting things on the cash machine like fake fronts than what OS the cash machine is running. These ATMs are on a private network, not general machines used by people for surfing the web. Whilst every now and again a nasty flaw does appear most of the 'Updates' fix things that we would never actually encounter, and most of the bulletins say things like "The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if an attacker convinces a user to visit a specially crafted website or a website that hosts specially crafted content." Well what are the chances of you visiting that specifically crafted website? Quite high I'm guessing if your a regular torrenter or go looking for nocd cracks and the like, but if your going to just go to your bank, bbc, yahoo, edugeek i don't thing the danger is as bad as some people would have us believe, and defiantly not on private networks running very specific tasks like cash machines. Only area i would be concerned about is if a new worm was made that XP was vunarable to like conflicker or blaster. Whilst i don't blame MS for not releasing new updates for XP like IE, WMP, i do think they have a social responsibility to keep it from big vulnerabilities until its usage vanishes to a very low number in use.

We dumped SLG and went Insight from TASC Software too. Insight is way better.

Parents to confront School governors over iPads
Quackers replied to Simcfc73's topic in General Chat
This is ours... Went 1:1 in 2009 and this shows the 2010,2011 and 2012 results. One of the main reasons staff prefer it is, they don't want to use IT for the whole lesson most of the time, maybe just 20 minutes. So pointless and a waste booking an IT room or a laptop trolley for a whole hour when you only want it for a few minutes. 1:1 brings electronic resources available when required in the lesson. -

Parents to confront School governors over iPads

I dont understand why they need parents to pay for them? The school has a budget if it cannot fit them in, the school cannot afford them. We have had 1:1 ratio of ICT in Years 9,10 and 11 since 2009, it works really well and nobody in the school wants to go back to laptop trolleys and booking ICT rooms. -
I've seen endless posts with people struggling to get silent app deployment to iPads over the air working in iOS 7. I have got it working using an Apple Server and Profile Manager quite well after much playing. So i've made a quick guide on how to set it up, its very rough as i made it this morning in 2 hours from memory, so it could have a few mistakes but hopefully it will guide you in the right direction if struggling. I'll try and answer any questions if you spot anything in the guide i've missed or done wrong. One thing i've noticed is when you remove apps it takes age for the iPads to do so (they pop up with a notification), and it does not seem to always actually remove the app, but I'm sure that part we are not that worried about. I've not covered locking them down as that should be pretty easy to work out your self as i do it by Device group in Profile Manager. Once its setup the iPads are actually easier to manage than Windows devices in terms of app deployment, its just getting there is the pain. iPad_Setup_Guide_1.pdf

You can get a site licence now for around £21 per FTE , so works like Microsofts ESS Licensing. That does the whole suite of Adobe products too.

Looking at those numbers, they need to get an iOS and Android version of Microsoft Office out there. Office is a good seller by those stats, Im convinced it would sell well on non Windows platforms, its not like they don't already do Office for other platforms like Office for Mac. I know its there Ace card to try and get people over to Windows on mobile devices but it aint happening, they have missed the boat so should try and make the most out if it they can and thats open up Office to millions of potential customers.

Its already happening, all my mates and lot of work collegues / famley have all switched to OSX in the last 2 years. Im seeing it more and more, and The Register reported last week that 25% of Cisco staff now run Mac OS, and that corpoate adoption is gaining base due to the effect of liking iPads, Google have somthing like 42,000 staff or 9x% running Mac OS. Microsoft are being attacked on all sides at the moment.
