Quackers

2004 to 2011 we were stage 2, now were stage 3 with Ruckus.

I would deffo push for a proper wireless system in place before getting tablets, as I doubt they will stay in range of the 1 AP plugged into the wall all the time so decent site wide coverage is essential. Sounds more like your head teacher wants tablets for tablets sake rather than to achieve a specific goal with them. With the exception of the Windows 8 Pro based tablets the rest ie Apple iPads , Samsung Galaxy Tabs are designed for the new cloud world not the traditional client/server system we have been use to for years. But you can run your own private cloud that are all based around your active directory / windows server world such as using System centre 2012 to manage ipads as a MDM, share point 2013 with office web apps and exchange server for mail. Tablets are a can of worms best kept sealed until you know exactly what the tablets are going to be used for.

I would go for another iPhone I went from a samsung galaxy S2 to an iPhone 5 and as customisable as android is, it's not as polished as iOS I just prefer using it. Deffo something wrong if it's slow and buggy on the 4S as people I know with the 4S love iOS 7 on it and don't say it's slow.

I just had a look at Ebico's web site and could not believe how expensive they are. 18p a KWh!!! I pay less than 12p a KWh with British Gas yeah there is a standing charge of 26p a day but i use around 18KW a day. So for me bgas £2.16 a day (12p * 18) + 26p Standing charge (£2.42) Ebicos £3.24 a day (18p * 18)

I use to like 10 years ago, would have servers and clients and play but now i just don't bother, in fact i don't even have a Windows PC/Laptop at home anymore.

If its just a handful of iPads you could use the iTunes vouchers, you dont need a credit card to setup an Apple ID/Itunes account the bottom payment option when it asks Visa/Mastercard etc is what you need to select, cannot remember what it says something like no payment option. If its anymore you should be looking at having a volume licensing account and using Apple Configurator.

Are you on about Terrestrial or Satellite ? When it rained with analogue satellite the heavier the rain the more white speckles would appear on the screen, with digital it has to be extreamly heavy for the picture to go. Terrestrial wise i have never had the rain cause my signal to go funny digital, but in the analogue days i remember the weather in general would effect some channels quality.

We have Enterprise on all 4 EES licences i am the Administrator for, it could just be an error, phone up Microsoft Licensing help desk. I could not see server 2012 Standard last week on 1 account yet could access the data centre edition was a glitch they fixed.

If you wanted brand new you could get a 11" Mac Book Air with Edu discount and no VAT for £665.

Is Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection the same product but with a Business badge?

I saw the date but its the closest match, Supportnet is next to useless.

Having the same issue, trying to install a new Server 2012/SQL 2012 install but the "Use this SQL Instance for SIMS" drop down box on SIMSInst is empty, where do i get this newer version if SIMSInst?

It would normally or anything that uses SSL to login will not work.

Web development is not my strong point, basic HTML and Joomla is about my limit. Can anybody in the know shed light on the post Flash era. I believe HTML5 allows you to have video and other media without pluggins so no need for flash player so long as its a HTML5 browser. But what file format do you use for the flash replacement for video?

What is Solus 3 trying to fix thats broken in Solus 2? I could be being thick here, but with Solus 2 the end user clicks SIMS.net and it upgrades then lets them in. Why change that?

Normally you just join the Number or the Number + S cycle, so if you have an iPhone 5 the iPhone 5S should not really appeal as the changes would be small, and you would wait for the iPhone 6, if your an iPhone 4S user the 5S should appeal as the differences should be sufficient for you to want to upgrade. I'm on my first iPhone (iPhone 5) and compared to my previous phone the Samsung Galaxy SII its so pleasant to use. The build of the device feels better, not cheap. iOS is also way way better than Android from reliability point of view, apps and the android OS would regularly freeze on, and my Galaxy SII would reguallly get extremely hot then reboot, the iPhone in comparison hardly ever crashes for me. Yeah there might be some features Android can do that iOS cannot, but all i am bothered about is it can do what i require and do them well. I'm not going to buy the iPhone 5S, but the addition of the M7 processor might make for some more interesting developments software wise in the future, and the finger print reader is a nice addition.

Had a search and read, but i cannot find a definitive answer from the forum posts. Is the Summer 2013 the last supported version on Server 2003 or will the Autumn version be the last one supported on 2003 Server?

How long do i have until Solus 3 is forced upon me?

Download the free version and make it do things you feel would make the school work better. One thing we use sharepoint for here is the school calendar / bulletin so the front screen shows whats happening Today and Tomorrow. As well as giving overviews of all our upcoming events. We also use it for our ordering here, so teacher creates an order on an excel spreadsheet, attaches it to a list and a workflow starts where the member of SMT selected has to Approve the order, then once approved it goes to the bursar and within Sharepoint the person who created the order can track their order progress from Awaiting Approval, Approved, Ordered and Delivered so they don't pester the bursar going has X been ordered yet? Sharepoint also emails people along this process, so when the order is created the SMT member gets an email saying a new order by X for £X has been created click here to approve or decline. You could log all 'On Calls' (where a teacher requests somebody to deal with a naughty child), then you can make it display graphs showing which periods are the most active, or subjects. Anything thats currently logged on paper sharepoint can more than likely replace.... How much do your staff like using IT at your place? If they don't embrace it i would not bother.

We ran Windows 7 with 2003 DCs for 2 years no problem.

We went with Zen you get ADSL backup free of charge just in case the fibre link was to go down for some reason (so long as you have a PSTN line free to take it) plus a very decent tech support department.

If i was an ISP i would be annoyed over the whole thing. Feels like they are being made to make up for bad parenting.

I just get Debug initialised when i press those keys on that website, thats in Safari on Mac OS or IE9 on Windows 7, am i doing something wrong?

We use our full .sch.uk domain name, then use split zone DNS. We use to use .local but prefer what we do now.

With one of Acer's latest laptops i had to get a non UEFI BIOS from them for the KMS to work. That was a right pain getting it. It was the first time i had come across this, does the Server 2012 KMS server work with UEFI BIOS's? As were still on 2008 R2
