Quackers

If you can hold out until later in the year Joomla 3.5 will be out which will be the next long term release.

We have just bought IEP Writer V3, and as per instructions supplied I have done the DbUpgrade using the patch to add the licence. Installed IEP to S:\SIMS\IEPV3 Gone into SEN Setups and added the path to the IEP executable. If logged in as me the system manager, when i select SEN from a student details i get the 'New' option from under IEP and when i click it the IEP writer loads and fills the details in. When anybody else does the same the 'New' is greyed out, nobody else can add IEP's. I have looked in System Manager at the permissions and i cannot see anything about IEP's Anybody have any idea why only i can add a new IEP? What have i not done?

Its because Windows 8 is NOT a nice experience to use. Thats the underlying problem. I have had it on machines, and i can navigate around it, but its just a pain, being flicked in and out of TIFKAM is jarring. All the good things Microsoft have done under the hood on 8 have been wasted because of a dire interface. If its not that dire why are they back tracking on the way the Start Screen is launched, and all these other tweaks to the Start screen coming in the Blue update? If they had just kept the standard windows interface for Home/Pro/Ent and put TIFKAM on the Tablet version the adoption rate and liking for the product i think would be a lot higher.

An extra step , Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT 4 would all take me to the desktop without having to press a key! I've taken the learning plunge and gone Mac instead, Microsoft have lost the plot. Windows 8, Windows Mobile 8, Xbox One, all wrong wrong wrong.

I could create a very long list with whats wrong with Windows 8....

Im not allowed.

Anybody seen these for sale in the UK? Its basically a 10" netbook , but with a Celeron Processor, 2 or 4 Gig RAM and a higher res display (1366x768). But seem to be US only at the moment. Price point is good if the $ price is anything to go by

Magix Music Maker , but its not as cheap, but bet it will not crash randomly lots like eJay does.

But who would clean the projector filters, replace lamps?, fix the printers when they jam, manage the internet filter and firewall, backup the servers, install and configure new telephone lines (VoIP), replace faulty switches, maintain all the staff laptops, IT Suite machines and Admin stations? To name but a few tasks IT Staff do in schools.

I personally would have released that as a Mac Pro Mini along side a new Mac Pro and see if the buyers take to it with the expansion all being done externally.

The best experience you can have is to use Parallels Desktop in Coherence mode for SIMS.net thats what i use.

yeah but not until it hit SP2. The RTM version could not even access our shared drives on Windows Servers without taking minutes to load, and file copying was reported all over the internet as taking twice as long as XP at doing the same task, and thats just for starters of why Vista did far from work.

I would choose PARS Connect and Insight from TASC Software any day over SLG, we have had both and we dumped SLG. Some of the prices Capita charge for it when it breaks are disgusting and treat you like a cash cow, its bloated, and just way to complex in comparison so many different parts to break. TASCs software is light weight, easy to install, easy to configure and their charges are reasonable they will also listen to what the customer wants and try and add a feature for you, sometimes done with in a few days.

Does not seem to by the looks of it Microsoft EES - Core CAL Suite vs Enterprise CAL Suite | Education | SLA Performance Ltd

Do i need a different version of DBAttach or do something special to get SIMS to work on 64 Bit Windows Server? Can get it to work with 32 Bit Server 2003, or 32 Bit 2008 Server, but 2008 R2 the same process does not work. Was thinking of moving to Server 2012 and SQL 2012 from the summer release as still on 2003 Server so clock is ticking. Its been about half a year since i last tried it but i am sure my issue was the SQL Instance never appears in the drop down list when installing SIMS or using the DBAttach tool on 64 Bit.

I use a mixture, like our 3 domain controllers are named after the 3 olympic class ships (Olympic, Titanic, Britannic), but others like our file servers are called UFS-(Year of entry) or UFS-(Department). Its which ever works better for that role.

We use PARS and highly recommend it. The support you will get is amazing too! Just get in contact with them you will not regret it.

Got the Ruckus guest access setup and i have generated a guess pass, my phone then pops up asking for the guess pass key/code i enter it and i get internet. As soon as my phone disconnects from the wifi after a few minutes of doing nothing i have to re-enter the code/key again to go to a web page. Since it was a 1 day pass i was expecting the device (that MAC Address)to be authorized for 1 day without having to enter the code again, and again, and again. Is there anywhere to change this behavior?

The 40C is quite a small box, how much load are you putting on? Its designed only for a small network really. Do you still get that speed when all filtering is turned off? Also are you on the latest Forti OS?

We do it in house with Geovision, use to use the DVR Card system but moving over to their IP Based cams now. Its a great system which you can integrate in the future with other things such as door access, number plate readers with barriers. They even do these Fisheye cams which see in all directions at once here is an example we have a few and are great. You can get clients for ipads/iphone and android or Windows PCs. Caretakers like it as they can view them on there iphones at home.

We have over 200 Acer laptops here, they are rock solid reliable laptops. We still have 2 laptop trollys from 2006 with 2006 Acer travelmates 4222's still in them and running fine. Just batteries now struggling to hold charge. I can count on 1 hand the amount of Acers that have died. The 50 or so HP's we bought in 2008/2009 have all been binned now (HP 550/530/6720s) ranging from constantly over heating, freezing and onboard LAN just giving up.

I tried to click buy this morning, Server error . I see endless posts of people having issues connecting. I am really tempted to just not bother, i am dying to play this game so much but part of me really does not want to support EA for using DRM by buying this game, great looking game wrecked by a bad company.

Whilst i know there is still stock out there, when its gone its gone according to reports, as Asus, Acer etc have stopped making them. Has anybody seen out there anything that is no more than 11.6" screen and has the battery life close to that of a netbook for under £350? I have been looking at lots yesterday and the most close was an Asus Vivo book but the battery life spec wise is not looking good.

I really like the look of it, but its not out on the Mac until later in the year I spent a lot of my life playing Sim City 2000/3000 but for somereason i could not gel with Sim City 4, infact i hate it. The maps do look small on Sim City 5 which is a little off putting but the fact you can have many smaller cities specialising in things will hopefully make up for it.

We use Fortinet here (got a 200B) and i love it.
