But how else will you run Mac OS? I don't want to run riddled Windows anymore at home. Malware on that OS is getting silly now.

Get one ordered now its down to only 6 weeks waiting time in the UK from order to delivery. Or wait until everyone else copies the form factor which I'm sure Samsung is more than likely doing right now...

For a Laptop i would go Apple for build quality and at home i would buy nothing else. If i was after a desktop currently the only reason i would get a desktop Mac would be to run Mac OS. I've had the Acer's, the HP's and the Sony laptops and they work, but they just do not come close to the current MacBooks. Just little things like the Magsafe connector for the power so if you trip over the cable your laptop does not go flying, the gesture trackpad with no buttons. The Macbook Air is my favourite of all the laptops i own, i think its a bargain at the price you get an i5, solid state hard drive, backlit keyboard, bluetooth, magsafe power connector, wireless A,B,G,N,AC , webcam, upto 13 hour battery, gesture mouse and its just so thin and light. Add to this they actually hold some value unlike other brands which just nose dive £891 for the entry model with edu discount is a great price, plus you get to run Mac OS which is great.

If you have an onsite Exchange can you slowly migrate to the Office 365 exchange? i.e. a few users one day and a few users the next day? As thats what i would like to do but i get the feeling i have to do 1 big migration at once because how would it know which exchange server to deliver the mail to if i have both running at once? Can i do what i want?

I don't get why they stopped doing Service Packs for Windows. Its the best way. I also think they should have done an XP SP4 at some point as there was so many updates after SP3 it gets silly, same with Windows 7 now, they need a Service Pack 2! . You see all theses PC's running XP in the banks and on tills and they are more than likely going to get binned when they upgrade which is a waste and replaced with new PCs to do exactly what they were doing before , running the banks applications to get a task done.

We hide them in the ceiling and we keep the remotes.

Works now i've logged in the web based portal and clicked one drive. Odd design to have to do that first.

Where is the web login for the business version? I've tried on the login.live.com but it says my account does not exist. I download One Drive Business to my iPhone and it says "Login failed, we logged you in, but we can't access your settings, try logging in again later"

So i have Office 365 setup with dirsync, i have a user with the following licences Office 365 ProPlus for Students and Microsoft Office 365 Plan A2 for Students with Sharepoint Plan 1 for EDU ticked. I then load Word for iPad, i sign in , select im a business user not home great Then i try to use the OneDrive and i get " you don't have permission to Connect" Erm ok... any ideas? I've tried with another user and i get the same error message. The only one that works is my account i setup as a home user not the one linked to our active directory. Google does not seem to bring any results up. Am i missing a step out? I am right in thinking that if i give the user a sharepoint licence they will get a One Drive Business account thats AD linked?

So if i contact my reseller of EES i can just ask for Student Advantage to be added on at no cost?

I take it we need to setup Azure Active Directory too if we want single sign on?

From here Compare Office 365 Education plans - Office.com We have 600 pupils, so £1.90 x 600 = £1140 x that by 12 months and you get £13000 and i have not added in staff yet. When i first saw it i thought maybe now is a good time to start seriously looking at the cloud maybe get all the kids to use One Drive. But at that cost i just do not see it happening. We have ESS so have paid for Office site wide, why can we not have it on our iPads?
-
So an Office 365 Education A2 or just being able to buy each app for say £5 would have been fine. But no, MS want us to spend £4000 on ESS, then another £12,000 a year just for Office 365 so we can edit Office docs on our iPads? Thanks for nothing MS!

We have had this on and off for a while, seems very random and never got the the bottom of it, just always thought user error as its only normally 1 or 2 teachers and its not every time and it never does it when we are watching. -
Microsoft are holding an event where today (around 6PM UK time i believe), Satya Nadella is expect to announce Office for iPad the first touch first version of Office, and also another product designed to manage mobile devices. Interesting times, Microsoft might actually be heading in the right direction at last...

We use Elastix which is just Asterisk but bundled with everything else you need. Configured it in 2009 and its just been left running on a Dell Poweredge ever since, rebooted it 3 times i think in 5 years.

Game salad seems to be able to make games for both Android and iOS and it runs on both Windows and Mac OS. Game Design Engine, Make Games for iPhone & Android - GameSalad -
Yep we leave that in there too. Users don't really go to there mapped home drive when on Windows they tend to go directly to Documents so they don't really see the folder and if they did I'm sure they would just ignore it.
-
Yes, the Mac will look for a folder called 'Documents' in the home directory. If it aint there it will make one and all the Mac documents will be put in there by default. So if you point Windows to the same place the users get a consistent Documents across the platforms.
-
We have the Home Directory for the user set in AD, to say \\server\homes\%username% Then on the Windows side we use Group Policy Folder Redirection to map the folders up So 'My Documents' goes to \\server\homes\%username%\Documents Desktop goes to \\server\homes\%username%\Desktop and so on. When the user logs onto the Mac it auto maps the Documents to \\server\homes\%username%\Documents so long as those options in the previous post are not ticked.
-
So long as 'Force local home folder on startup disk' and 'Create mobile account at login' is not ticked when you join them to AD it will map the Documents, Desktop , Pictures etc to the users Home Folder on the server, as long as its called 'Documents' on the server and not My Documents. So to the user they just open finder and click Documents on the left and all their documents are available.
