Once Vista hit SP2 it actually worked ok which is the baseline for Windows 7 i believe, but SP2 is too late the damage is done. Still cannot believe when i look back home many basic things were just broken like file copy in Vista.

Thats if the Windows store even takes off, its just not the place to be at all. Was speaking to a friend at the weekend who worked up until a few weeks ago with a well known gaming company. They released the game on iOS App Store, Android Google Play store, and Windows Store for the Windows Phones. The iOS one was where they made almost all of their income, the Android one despite having the biggest user base had only small sales because it was being pirated and made up only 10% of the iOS sales, and the Windows store had single figure purchases. They are just going to drop the Windows one because its full of tumbleweeds....

Wish they would go back to how it was with NT 4 / Windows 2000 and have Workstation / Pro and Server, thats its. No need for all this Basic, Home, Home Premium, Pro, Enterprise, Ultimate crap.

Can anybody tell me exactly what the PHY Error is measuring? Were having issues in 1 area, and the AP in that area has lots of PHY Errors, like 9000 of them on the 2.4Ghz and 500 on the 5Ghz, yet the surrounding AP's have like 24 or so errors which is a lot lower. Just want to know what it means.

I think it will be Windows X , not Windows 9.
-
You will have to start again , there is a tick box 'Allow devices to connect to other Macs' in Apple Configurator i think ticking this will stop this issue in future should it get nicked or damaged.

You can find lots of forum posts with people having a similar issue with Samsung and Sony phones last year.... but because its not Apple people don't go crazy about it. Here are a few , but googling will bring back many more.... Galaxy S 4 Screen Cracked in Jeans front Pocket | T-Mobile Support Has your Sony Xperia Z phone cracked by itself? Display cracked while in my pocket - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com HTC One (M7) Cracked screen. HTC says not to… | HTC One | XDA Forums I think its more of an issue with big screens which Apple are new to in the phone market.

Is it possible to make it so that in a Sharepoint document library you can have 'Creator Owner' full control, Students create, and Staff full control? Trying to make it so students can put work in it, but not mess with other peoples. Can be done on Windows file shares easy, but I'm struggling to see how to do it on sharepoint document libraries. .

They still need support, like managing the volume licence of apps, and enrolling them in an MDM, that side, but i think our roles over the coming years is going to change. When i stand back and look, 3 years ago most of my spare time was spent going over to my grandparents, parents, sisters, partners at the time parents and their kids too, and a few other peoples houses fixing Windows based machines with the endless malware or other stupid things Windows does. Now all of them bar one use iPads , with the Windows laptops gathering dust. I have my free time back as I'm not having to baby sit Windows anymore. With the exception of helping with the initial setup i don't hear from them any more saying can you fix X, Y or Z.

You just type the local username to login. It will check AD first, if it cannot find it or find a match it will then try local accounts.

[ipad] Help! iPad roll-out turning into a nightmare.
Quackers replied to duzzie's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
If you want the ability to disable wallpaper changes and pass codes go to https://www.apple.com/feedback/server.html and tell Apple thats what you want. Select Profile Manager as the server product at the end of the form. They do read these things as i found out and seem to be implementing some of my Mac OS X requests for Profile Manager. If EVERYONE on this website did the same thing I'm very sure it would get noticed by them and might actually implement it in the future. -
We have a private ethernet circuit to each site we support, and our core router lets me go where ever i want.
-
One of the Primaries we support had some company try and sell them that idea, might be the same one, i said whats your website for then?

Quackers replied to useraaron321's topic in Mac
We only use ARD for monitoring screens really. Never used it for software so cannot help there. -
Updating Flash Player on Multiple Macs at Log-on Screen.
Quackers replied to useraaron321's topic in Mac
Yes i do, its how we push software to our Macs. By default its mainly command line based, but you can get Munki Admin which gives it a GUI if you are not that comfortable using the terminal. -

Get Munki setup its quick and easy to deploy software (including flash) with it. Just needs a web server for the http bit and the client installing on each Mac. https://code.google.com/p/munki/ -
And I will be buying the iPhone 6 128GB sim free at £699 in a month or so

Your thoughts? How much IT support does a primary school need?
Quackers replied to TomHD's topic in General Chat
We support 4 primaries (we are a high school), we don't allocate time as thats what the previous contract was with the LEA, its not really what our primaries want. A Tech for once a day every 2 weeks or half a day every week was useless to them. Instead we go up at least once a week, do a brief check see if anyone grabs us, then return to the high school. If they ring with an issue we go over, try to respond and be onsite within 30 minutes (thats not in the contract thats just an internal aim) so they feel like they have somebody they can get when they have an issue and not have to wait days or even weeks for something to be fixed. Plus they wanted people they could just bounce ideas off instead of phoning a help desk and getting a ticket just for a simple question/idea.
