    Windows 8 ISO

I was always under the impression that the media is irrelevant , you don't buy the media you buy a licence and your computer is either licensed for that software or not.
  2. 27" iMac? I know they are not the cheapest but it ticks all your boxes. All in one, looks cool/futuristic , wireless keyboard or wired keyboard option, 27" .
  3. Yep iOS 7 is the highest it will ever go, iOS 8 requires iPhone 4S or higher. Im guessing around 1 more year of the apps being updated for iOS7 before the new ones require iOS8
  4. If you have a Mac or iPad the iPhone with "Continuity" would be a big selling point to go iPhone. Personally for me it would be iPhone 6 or a HTC One, i'm really not a fan of Samsung phones i have seen several people at the school and family with the Samsung Galaxy devices have big issues after around 12 months with the devices. Freezing, device getting very hot, battery draining very quickly to name but a few things, plus i paid £300 to come out of my contract early with the Samsung Galaxy S2 i thought it was that dire, audio call quality was very bad. I went iPhone 5 in the end and its been the best phone i have ever owned.
  5. It might be in loopback mode with it being a terminal server so it can be locked down a bit more with the machine being accessible remotely. So look at where the computer account is in Active Directory and see if its in loopback mode (its a computer policy setting).
  6. Are the domain accounts running local profiles with symbolic links created to there home directory folders such as Documents or are they roaming profiles? We use the former and had this issue, but it was fixed by doing what you already said, we delete the contents of the folder /System/Library/User Template/english.lproj/Library/Keychains
  7. We have had it 3-4 years now and I'm starting to see some AP's become temperamental. We have 7363's . We will see extremely dire throughput , dropped packets when pinging. This can be on CH 1,6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz, if we then swap the AP for another the problems go away. Just wondering if anybody else who has had Ruckus for years is starting to have any failures AP wise?
  8. I was after something like this a few weeks ago, i found one that fitted our needs 100% but was not free, but was very cheap. ToDo Cloud. Its subscription but only $1.99 a month per user so pence really. They have a client for iPad, iPhone, Mac and Android, but not Windows so you would have to use the web browser version for that but the web client is good too. I know you said freeware but nothing has come close to what we wanted compared to this and its so cheap. Plus there is a 14 day full trial. We all have iPhones, iPads and Macs so we are able to update the jobs on every device we use on the go or at our desks. Really like it.

    Wow

Guessing they don't get as much feed back on OS X Server as they do many other products so maybe its easier to get heard? If enough people on here who manage iPads with OS X Server's Profile Manager gave feedback under the OS X Apps, OS X Server and specify Profile Manager the things they feel are missing they might get added.

    Wow

So I decided to fill the feedback form in on apples website to say I thought there were a few things missing from profile manager that would be useful. (One example no ability to disable airplay on Mac OS via profile manager but you can on iOS) Had a few emails off them now asking me to go into more detail with some of my requests so they can improve it. Was not expecting that so if there is something you want adding function wise go use the feedback page and you might get listened to.
  11. Another thing to make IPv6 adoption not really happen?
  12. Was just browsing the stats, and found it interesting how much the devices accessing our site have changed since Christmas. So Christmas Time it was Windows - 64.1% iOS - 21.7% Android - 9.96% Mac OS - 2.56% Windows Phone - 0.54% Checked for now and its very different Windows - 42.8% iOS - 32.5% Android - 13.3% Mac OS - 9.96% Windows Phone - 0.99% Other ones too, but they make up really small numbers to make it 100%. Windows has siginifitanly dropped in just 9 months which i found most interesting. Anybody else's stats showing anything interesting?
  13. We do this, well the alias part for folder redirect, but i created it as an App using Platypus (Its free), which converts any script to an executable then copied that to every Mac and used Profile Manager which is the successor to Workgroup Manager to run that program at login (not using Login hooks).
  14. Hmm, we run 10.9.4 here and its connecting the users home directory fine. We force local home directory then i made a script to redirect the main folders like documents to the users home drive on our Windows servers.
  15. I like my desk to be as clutter free as possible. Does not always go that way though.
  16. I had the Medium Virgin package, 30Megabit Broadband, Basic Tivo and a landline. You do not have to have line rental, you can just have fibre broadband without the phone. As i was out of contract i thought i would save some money as i don't use the Tivo or the landline, so i called them 3 weeks ago to cancel all but the broadband and pay £25 a month instead of the current £37.99 for the bundle. Well the guy on the phone did me an offer he said if i keep the phone i can have it for cheaper than the just broadband price, so now i am paying £21.50 for 30 Megabit fibre going to 50 next month and the landline. If you are out of contract Virgin will throw offers at you.
  17. Anybody know of any job tracking software that has an iPad/iPhone client and a client for Mac OS? We do use Sharepoint, but we are not that happy with it and would prefer a dedicated program. Its only for the Tech staff to keep track of jobs we need to do, so won't be used by any end users purely tech staff.
  18. Cannot believe they are still doing this 10 years on, as i had Millennium call with the same line back in 2004.
  19. We had the same issue with shared calendars on iOS devices with Exchange, in the end we had to move our calendars to Goggle to get it how we wanted.
  20. We get Apple Macbook Airs for our staff now. Use to get Acer but they started to become very hit and miss and sometimes make absolute crud, other times make ok models, and the few models of HP we bought in the past have all overheated.
  21. You can join your Mac's directly to Active Directory very easy. If you want to lock them down you will need to use Profile Manager, you can also use Profile Manager to manage the iPads. This is part of Apples Server.app which you can get from the Mac App Store, you will want a Mac Mini to run as a dedicated Mac Server ideally. I recommend DeployStudio for imaging the Macs, its free, you can also make DeployStudio do the AD joining for you. If you want to spend money you can get 3rd party stuff to use Active Directory to lock down the macs, but i use Profile Manager. It will be a VERY big learning curve if you're new to Macs, as everything you know on the Windows world you did not learn overnight, and will more than likely have to make a few scripts to get the end user environment exactly how you want it, but thats no more than had to be done in the Windows NT 4 days.
  22. Apple and IBM Team Up For Major Enterprise Mobility Partnership - Mac Rumors Looks like Apple is about to take a very serious bite in the enterprise market, already noticed iPads used a lot more the business world like Barclays and McDonalds, this is just going to sky rocket them, and maybe via the 'Halo' effect increase Mac sales too due to the way iOS and Mac OS now work together with continuity from iOS8 and Mac OS 10.10 onwards, add to that you can slim down your MS licensing as Mac OS and iOS updates are free unlike Windows and Business don't get the heavy discounts Education do it all starts to look very attractive.
  23. You could always turn on Access Based Enumeration if you are that worried about users seeing folders they don't have the permissions to access anyway.
  24. Im holding off until later in the year to see if the iWatch materialises and see what things it can log. Health Kit looks like Apple might be onto something very good.
  25. Hmm, pressed Activate this morning and it worked, they must have been having issues again....
