VMCompute is missing from the list and if i try to add it, the path is missing.

I have 4 x hyperv hosts which I have always remotely managed via the local hyperv console on my workstation joined to the domain. Today, after opening the console , i only saw 1 of the servers showing and all the virtual servers on that server which I can manage. If i try and re-add the other 3, on all of them i get the following.. can any one help? not sure why this would have suddenly happened after the latest updates? no permissions have been changed since it was last working earlier this week. With RemoteApp they can install the apps into their start menu so can launch sims directly locally over the https connection. saves them logging into the system everytime

Are you running an adblocker? I had the same thing and found it frustrating! changed adblocker just to not block on facebook and now it's all back to normal after a frustrating few days trying to determine what the issue was!

Host it yourself - we always have done. For a short period they wanted it external but on snow days their system couldnt cope with the demand of everyone checking the website for information, so we went back in house. Never misses a beat on uptime!

I've written an in-house on-call system based on ASP and SQL - SIMS wasn't good enough and my version does the job of recording on-calls in the database, sending an email to recipients to notify them of the on-call and producing reports by student, year group, reg group etc, top 10 students with most on-calls etc!

Is there a way to include the drafts folder when searching mailboxes on exchange and office 365? I have noticed this isn't including when running a search via powershell. Thanks

Over the summer we've upgraded the machines to win 10 21H1 version. Now, when users open file explorer they cannot click in the box to search for files. It is just as shown. Can anyone help as to what policy disables/enables this? Not sure why it's changed as on 1909 they could search without any issue! Thank you!

We've recently updated all windows 10 machines to 21h1 and all servers on the latest updates. users have come back and some printers are missing from machines! Guessing this is due to the printer vulnerability update. The printers/copiers show when admin user logs in, but never show for standard users. I have tried both GPO Printers and Login script to attach the printer - works for admin, but not standard users. When the users login, they get nothing at all, no prompt or anything. the printer just doesnt appear. The drivers on the print server are 'true' for packaged and I've tried adding the server to the point and print GPO settings with no effect. On the machines, the driver is listed in Print Management. What's the best way to resolve this? Thanks.

Check firmware? we had an similar issue with Unify APs, there was an issue where our wireless clients would only get a 169. address and we were using Windows Server DHCP. There was an issue with DHCP traffic passing the APs, and a new firmware fixed it.

One reason all our data is still local! 365 is clunky for that kind of thing!

Yes, all nodes are up to date. The 'SAN' is basically a Dell server configured with 1 x large 20TB storage pool in RAID 10, running the 4 onboard ports for iscsi to the hosts! All inherited, so not something I setup!

CC4 isnt a 'dumbed down version of windows server' - your still running window server - its just a different GUI running on the top as all the services, consoles etc are still running on the server, you are just using a different interface. When I inherited a CC4 network i did everything through AD, GPO etc as thats what I was used to, hated the RMMC! So slow just to load users and change a password!

I've installed 2019 on 350 Gen 5 6 and 10 servers without any issues. I've always used RUFUS to make the bootable USB - UEFI then when the server boots, choose boot from USB key and installed windows without any issues.

RM is a simple way for non experienced IT people to manage the network because its all in one place! Its just an alternative way to use ADUC, GPO, Print Management, etc so doesnt teach you the real world IT if you went elsewhere I've just decommissioned RM in a school that joined our trust to make it vanilla because they were still on server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 on CC4 and never paid for the upgrade, plus it was so locked down, so just added vanilla servers and workstations and everyone prefers it!

I have a 'domain user' account which we use for workstation admin. The user name is added to the local workstations 'administrators' group. when we install the SOLUS agent we specify the domain\username and password. Has always worked for us as the domain user is only a member of the location admin group. User gets added to local administrators group via GPO

We find most the time items are not actually PAT tested - it's a visual check and a sticker applied. I know this as my monitoring doesnt kick up alerts when hardware is disconnected!

All sorted now! Managed to do a ME reset through the BIOS!

I did wonder if that was part of the issue - just haven't worked out where to find the settings yet! They were obviously not all reset in the same way.

I'm running SPECOPS GPupdate which integrated with AD which i use to bulk WOL machines on the network. Been working perfect for years. However, recently bought some refurb desktops and discovered a strange issue. All machines setup in exactly the same way, but issue is as follows: when the machine is switched on by hand it registers in DHCP and DNS as the correct name i.e TEACHERPC.domain.local pings ok work ok etc. When the machine is shutdown, the DHCP lease is gone by the machines proper network/AD name and is replaced with some other DNS name i.e pc0875.domain.suffix.com presumably where the machines came from. When this happens, Specops Gpupdate will not boot the machine, because it says 'computer not found in DHCP' However, if i manually boot the machine, then run it again, it will show the machine is already runny. I am unable to find anything in the BIOS that represents this old machine name. The odd thing is If i select all the refurb machines, the majority will boot as the names show correct in DHCP but the odd ones won't boot because of the name mismatch/change in DHCP. Anyone seen this before?

Our desktop PCs were 'failed' by PAT testers a few years ago because the front face plates were missing. The little darlings like to push them in and snap them so we have to find something to fill the holes with as there are plenty of sweet and crisps wrappers inside!

I have Inherited a network which is running an HP 5406ZL Core switch on firmware version K.13.63, ROM K.12.12 On the HP site I can only find the latest downloads but the release notes say the ROM needs to be on a higher version. Does anyone have or know where I can find links to older versions of the firmware so that I can do the upgrade in the correct stages to get to the latest version? Thanks.
