  1. There is a setting for system default proxy ( or something like that ) on windows.. May work just by loggin in a s local Admin and setting the proxy in IE.. Not sure. Rob
  2. Yes should be possible even on the basic ILO from what I recall. It's part of the server if it's the basic unit, but will respond even if the system is ButtonOff ( must have at least the power cord and PSU on ). There should be a card attached to the server giving the default details. Rob
  3. Not usualy cost efficient on compact cameras. Nost sure of a contact for the cannon either. Rob
  4. We have had a few failures on our Xen Clusters. We now know our way round them, and it helps the installer when we can tell them what happened and what we have checekd. Then we leave it to them to fix as we pay them for that. And if it takes half a day then the staff have reverted to their "Alternate Lesson Plan" and if anyone get's annoyed then the SLT back us up. Although we are capable of fixing our system, we pay to make sure we are not liable for it. Rob
  5. Class D is "Multi cast" Class E is "For Future or Experimental use" I think we are in the future and need to experiment! Rob
  6. You can use IPV6 on your internal network if you like, and anyone thinking of a career in routing and especialy internet service provision would be well advised to learn all about IPV6 It's been coming for a long time, NAT was invented to increase the lifespan of V4 and it has certainly done it's job. Some authorities have run out of addresses already, many ISP's are actively trying to recover disused ranges just to make sure they can service clients who DO need them. There are some companies and individuals who got allocations right at the start when there was no fear of running out, and they got HUGE ranges by modern standards. Why they have not allocated the Class E range is a mystery to me, I guess there may be some good reason? Rob
  7. We are starting the path with some that we were told to buy. #1 job. We created a wifi SSID to a new vlan, that vlan can do 2 things. 1) It can access the web via the proxy 2) it can access our VDI desktop environment. That's our network safe from them. Now we are trying to get Meraki to work with our new secure system... Rob
  8. You would need a SAN with a SSD backplane to get the performance and longevity out of the SSD's HOW on earth were these things purchased without a purpose? Rob
  9. Sims NovaT "Did" have an appointment booking system, but that was in V4 IIRC, IIRC it was dropped for T6 (is it now T7?) A few years back we fudged T4 to run so that they could do parents evening. Rob
  10. They are just enforcing the standard 2k8 domain password policy Rob
  11. It all depends on what teh job description is. A network manager is not necessarily a departmental manager , or a technician, or a financial controller. In essence a Network manager should manage the network and nothing else. That's anything that creates an interconnection. It would exclude desktop support unless the desktop technician determins that the network on the desktop is an issue. It would exclude staff management as that is the support department manager Etc.... Define the role 1st Rob
  12. Tidy.. The 220 has a good powerplant. Hopefully your Mono will be more enjoyable than mine. My mechanic says he has something to try that may well improve my TDCI running. Still thinking of a 3.0 S-Type which is the same basic engine as the 220 but installed in the correct orientation TT

  21. If it's on a Uni provided connection then you have no chance. If it's on Private DSL then you will need to have a static IP or DynDNS. And once you have an IP port forward the external port on the router to the laptop. Use a non standard port on the router forwarding to the SSH port on the laptop. Rob
