Yep I second the virtualisation. In five years tie when the hardware is underperforming or out of waranty you can either just shift the VM's to a new machine ( don't have to pay somone to rebuild a bunch of servers for you ) or suplement the HOST and divide the load. Rob

with a VPN you are simply adding their machine to the network and exposing the network to any nasties they may have. This is the big thing to be aware of. Have a look at HAP ( home access plus ) , which is free and may do just what you need. I have not tried it yet but many here have. Rob

Are you realy sure you want your users on a VPN? A remote desktop service is safer to implement. Rob

Is anyone using zoneminder? I am testing it here, for some reason it will not pull 640x480 feeds from our old axis cameras.. Seems reasonable otherwise although a little feature lacking. Rob

The chipset may reserve the last xMB of memory , which would mean that the ram ( especial on a 2 or more stick system) may not be addressed by the O/S for some time. There may also be ram timing issues or other access issues between the GPU and RAM that are not affecting the running of the system. It is however an issue for the vendor to rectify. Rob

You are aware that most on-board graphics chipsets steal memory from the main system memory. Rob

Never ever liked them, recomended against the purchase of 300 of them. The purchase went ahead and they have not been successful. My Asus Transformer though, I use that all the time. Both with and without the Keyboard dock. Rob

Always ran Linux based FW's up until our new build (still got them in some roles). ( Clearos, Untangle, Endian) all do free software firewalls. We now have a CISCO ASA5520, which is more than man enough for the job. But when we looked at adding an extra 4-port line card to it the price was a mouth watering £2,500!! Rob
