Geo-Stationary stuff has about 750ms-1S lag. So for Gaming bad, for Terminal Services Very Bad, for IPT not a chance in hell. Low earth orbit is a lot faster, but the data transit costs on the low orbit stuff is vastly greater than GEO-Stationary. Rob

Is there a Data Cap? I was part of a survey team recently looking at a rural area we could get nice 5Mb on 3G over 70% of the area where BT ADSL was only 256k. So the 3G was fantastic but you have to have a good data plan otherwise you get STUNG. Rob

As I said, AFAIK the SP needs to configure their end for a bond, you normaly get a bonding box delivered which has x-lines and the SP looks after the other end. You could load balance it but that's not the same although it may do the job fine. Rob

Do the vlan ID's match at both ends? CDP may be reporting mismatches if they are not and they may not work correctly. In the configuration you have, without trunking you need all 4 ports set as access ports, and the "switchport access vlan" set on each port in the vlan Rob

A diagram would be helpful too.. and an output of the interface runing config on both switches. Is VTP set up on the L3, if so it would eb best practice to make the L2 a client for VTP. Rob

If there is no trunk then there is only one vlan that is connected. You need a trunk. or two links from the core L3 switch back to the L2 switch. Rob

Just get the CBT-Nuggets for ICND1 & 2 , watch and listen to them, absorb it , then take the tests £85 each. It will give you a gr8 background in networking that will help you understand what realy goes on in the back end of the network. Havign the Cisco specifics is a bonus Rob

If they have their files/folders on the desktop then the profiles could be HUGE! What controller/AP is it , Monitoring it's status during peak times may give some insight. Rob

If you doing true bonding then service provider needs to have reciprocal equipemnt to run the bond. If your just doing plain load balancing then it should not. Rob

ST220 will be fine, It's mostly items related to the TDCI engine that have caused me problmes. the 24V V6 is a good engine. My big costs were a Flywheel and clutch £650, 4 Shocks ( as the ride was appaling and still is! needs springs) £400, A tyre got damaged £70, Disks and pads had to be done as a pad broke up , I forget what that cost... It's also had 2 Injectors but fortunatly they were under warranty. I only got the TDCI as I thoguht I would be doign big miles, but only done 6K in 8 months. Should have stuck with my previous car. Yes I have a tape player in Our Galaxy, but it's never used as there is a six disk in the back. Although we only have 2 kids, having the Galaxy is fantastic being 7 seats. We can take the grandparents out, we can take their freinds on a trip, we can move sofa's, I collected 3 engines in one go ( and not small 1L ones... We can get all 4 bikes in and the 4 of us (just).. Very versatile , just a shame it's not a Diesel. I would get shot of my Mondeo but it owes me near £1500 of repairs in 7 months. But I may be in a position to cut my losses soon. Then it will be back to a Sierra. Rob

You are running a 64Bit OS are you? If the programs are not using the ram it won't be needed. A simple look at the performance tab on task manager will confirm that memory is not the issue. You could try reducing the swap space to a bare minimum, which may force windows not to page out ram to disk ( but it should not be doing that anyway. ) How and when is it slow? I am using a 6-7 year old Dell D520 Centrino Duo with 2GB ram and I hardly find it underpowered, but I use Linux. Rob
