    Using DEP and device assignment with meraki. Works just fine. Only issue is the 100 device limit on the free licence. Device licensing was introduced with ios 9. Other features such as home screen config and wallpaper were added with 9.3.

    Providing they're all the same model with the same spec, I'd build one, sysprep it (not generalised) and clone it to an external USB HD using Clonezilla. Once you have a disk image, clone each machine using the USB drive as the source. Each one will probably take 15-20 mins

    Read the article re: Microsoft raising prices the other day and the comments section was full of people demonising Microsoft. I wonder what they have to say now, if anything. It's inevitable, all the companies will follow.

    Aye, brimstone is right. Move over to device assignment. It's there to make life easier and it does. You don't have to have DEP or ASM to use it and don't have to use any Apple ids on your iPads (unless you want to deploy books too).

    just some things to consider if you haven't already: Is your Item level targeting correct? are the surfaces in the right OU etc? are you deploying shared printers or TCP/IP? have you disabled point and print restrictions? loopback policy if you're applying to users?

    So I contacted Deployment program support and they told me to contact enterprise support first. So will have to give them a call. They certainly don't make it easy.

    The most common reason for this error is due to app licences. Have you assigned licences to your Apple IDs or devices?

    Airserver (and others I guess ) work using bonjour (mDNS) using broadcasts. I don't know too much about configuring switches so don't know how to get it working

    Supervision is either by DEP or configurator. You don't need both. Configurator was superseded by DEP but configurator is still available as an alternative.

    I was told by their support line that the 'test connection' doesn't work for whatever reason. sure enough the sync worked just fine despite the test reporting an error.

    You can wipe them with configurator which will wipe them back to factory default.
