As @Sydders01 said, you can have a trust between the domains and your users would be able to login as long as they specified the domain either with the UPN or domain\username format. They don’t need to be in the same forest to achieve this.

Hi all, I’ve configured SSL VPN access on my sonicwall and it works well from an external network. But I’m unable to test new connections or ping the external IP from the internal LAN. I’m not brilliant with firewalls and could do with some guidance on the routes we would need to allow this to happen so I can set up new connections more easily. Thanks

I’ve been searching but can’t seem to find any resources on what ports to allow for inbound traffic on client machines in a windows domain. Basically, what I’m after are all the ports I need to allow for it to function on the domain properly such as ntp(123), dns(53), Kerberos(88) etc Do I need allow all these ports for inbound and if so which ports/predefined rules do I need to specify?

Perfect. Thank guys. The plan is to migrate the on-premise domain first and then do the same in the cloud. Luckily neither domain has ADconnect configured at the moment so should be more straightforward. It will make my life so much easier!

Hi, If I have two tenancies in office365 each with one domain and I wanted to consolidate by migrating one domain to the other tenancy, would anyone know how in terms of functionality it would work? Are the users in one domain still classed as ‘guests’ in the other domain if files in sharepoint are shared with them? Cheers

Not in a supported configuration I think. But you may be able to add a cloud service as a scale-out repo and then use rclone or the likes to backup to it. I haven’t tried it so can’t say for sure. I’ll soon be purchasing the licence and subscribing to a veeam cloud-connect partner for offsite backups.

Have you looked into hyper-v replica?

The free veeam community edition without support will backup 10 instances, physical or Virtual using the newer universal licensing model. 1 instance = 1 server or up to 4 workstations. I like veeam but I’ve also heard very good things about backup assist also. Didn’t like Altaro and DPM is nothing but trouble.

I found Redstor to be quite expensive (backing up 4TB) in comparison to iLand. We use veeam to backup up to local nas and also an iLand subscription as a veaam cloud connect partner for offsite.

Yup, we had this experience, so we switched over to password hash and haven’t really looked back. It does what we need it to.

Can you ping other addresses on the admin network? Say the admin server for example. If you can consistently without issue, could there be another device with the same IP set statically? If all other devices are working ok then it could just be isolated to the device itself - maybe the network card?
