All our Ipads are on the Apple Dep and in meraki but I have had an email thismorning to say that one of the Ipads has had the profile removed i didnt think they could if it was in DEP?

Hi all, We are having an issue with one of our iPads. The iPad is running ios 8.0.2. We are trying to deploy a FileBrowser configuration file by assigning a user using Apple Configurator. However when we attempt to assign a user it fails if our Meraki Management profile option is ticked. The iPads are also taking a long time to refresh and check in/out. Has anybody else had any issue similar to this or have any ideas on how we might be able to resolve this? Thanks in Advance

Hi Sometime over the last couple of weeks, something has changed either in Airprint on ipads or the way the Meraki MDM global http proxy setting is applied. With the proxy setting "sslfilter.proxy.swgfl.org.uk port 8080" pushed out by Meraki as the global http proxy, the ipad cannot connect to the airprint printers. They appear in the list of found printers, but when one is selected it goes straight back to the print screen with "No printer selected" as the printer. If I remove the global proxy setting pushed out from Meraki, and apply the same proxy settings manually, it works absolutely fine (as it has always done in the past). Has anyone else seen this issue, or have any idea how to pursue a fix? I am trying to get some Meraki support but because we use the free version of Systems Manager it doesn't look I can get any official support, and I am awaiting approval for a login to the community forum so I can post in there too. One of my schools only has 18 ipads, so I have just added the proxy setting manually to those, but my other school has 120 ipads, so I'm not relishing the thought of doing all of those manually! Many thanks, Emma

Hello all, This is my first post here but hopefully not my last! there is a ton of stuff that I have read and found use full in this forum. Hopefully soon, I can contribute to the community. I need some help. We have 90 Ipads that we are trying to manage. Well about a week ago, we are no longer able to push apps silently. We had set them up over the winter break and installed multiple Apps on different days successfully using VPP. We have tags set up and that is how we assign apps with Auto Grant. We have Ipads in 4 different schools (grade schools) and trying to touch each one is a major inconvenient. The apps appear in the purchase store with the cloud symbol. So we don't suspect meraki to be the issue as pushing the app shows up and revoking the licence removes it from the app store. I can install the apps but have to do each app manually and input the password as well. - We have set up a profile using Meraki and they have been successfully enrolled. - We also have set up VPP and successfully linked it with Meraki. - All the Ipads have a unique Itunes account (@icloud.com) and they have been singed in on the Ipads. - Ipads are set up to automatically download Apps. - Most of the Ipads are still on IOS 8.1.1 (originally configured with this IOS) - I have also checked in the profile to allow all the apps the be installed and still don't get pushed silently. Many people in this forum have reported successfully been able to push apps after changing that setting. We have Allowed content ratings to Apps: 12+ - Also we specifically added the IP address to one of our test ipads to bypass the Firewall, thinking that maybe the firewall was stopping something from it installing. Same result. A. Is someone else experiencing this? We work closely with a High School in the area and they have reported having similar issues. B. Is there a setting that we are missing??? I have double checked everything to my knowledge and can't seem to figure this one out. Please let me know if any more info is needed and i can provide them. Thank you

Hi, I've been tasked with setting up iPad management including apps for iPads across 80 primary schools. We already have a basic Meraki management solution in place which basically just deploys the Meraki agent plus certificates to allow connection to our WiFi across the schools. What I want to achieve is to have each school's iPads moved into their own container and then they have there own VPP log-in so they can buy and deploy apps themselves. I do also need them to have some sort of centralised storage for photos, videos etc. Previously some schools have done this and used a Mini Mac onsite for the storage side but is there an easier neater way to do this centrally for all schools without the risk of one school accessing another school's files? The network/ Wifi connection across all our sites is very good and each school sits on our network with traffic to the outside world all converging at a central point before being proxied out - so no school is directly connected to the internet using a router on-site. Everything is Cisco managed. Any help or advice gratefully received.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, highly technical individual to lead the support and ongoing development of all network storage, infrastructure and systems for our growing Multi-Academy Trust. The successful candidate will have an expert understanding of supporting and developing Microsoft networks, to include LANs, WANs and server virtualisation and be able to demonstrate the successful implementation of O365 and cloud services. The role provides for a high degree of autonomy, so candidates must demonstrate a logical and organised approach to project management, planning and problem-solving. Full details on this position can be found at: Vacancies - Burnt Mill Academy Trust

Hi all, We use the free (old, unsupported) version of Meraki at our school which works fine for the most part. We're looking at the possibility of switching MDM's over the summer hols but are in a kind of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' sort of situation. Especially when some MDMs are ridiculously expensive and we're okay with a free version atm. The main problem I have is that our Head wants to stop pupils from downloading apps and only allow apps that have been pushed out via Meraki/VPP. The trouble is, when we choose not to allow installing apps in their profile, it removes their app store, therefore also prevents their iPad from receiving pushed out apps! Does anyone else have this issue? If so, how did you get around it? Do you have an MDM that allows management of this kind of situation? Many thanks for anyone who can help, Jo

Hello All Just quick reminder that if you are looking for Meraki pricing across their range of LAN, WLAN, MDM and CCTV products than let me know. We have access to really good terms for our education customers, and if you've not looked at it for a while, there are some competitive Layer 2 access switches now available in the form of the MS120 and licensing arrangements across the range for education only that covers the useful lifetime of the equipment. We are happy to supply only or provide professional services to aid with design, installation and configuration. Cheers Andy https://www.wave9.co.uk/meraki-wifi/

Hi All, I have notice the Meraki Systems Manager MDM is free for up to 100 devices. I am thinking about getting it however we don't use meraki wifi points. Do i need a meraki WiFi system in order to use SM? Or can it just install on a server and we role it out to wifi clients? Kind Regards Harry

Hello, I've been working in a school for year and a half, we have over 350 iPads that students use on a regular basis... I'll get to the point; we are currently using Apple Configurator to install apps and set profiles ect that's working fine! We have a profile called 'Meraki Management', on all the iPads in the school to keep track of them and if they go missing we can trace where they are at by using Meraki. My problem is some kids have managed to remove the Meraki profile on some of the iPads, we know which ones as we get emails to say a profile has been removed on ... iPad and it has become unsupervised, i then have to get that iPad and put the profile back on again by re-registering it with Meraki. My main question is, is there a way to restrict the settings on the iPads as students don't need to be on the setting at all, or if not is there a way to restrict the profiles that can be removed? I've looked online and other websites say that the Meraki profile cannot be password protected so I was just wondering what suggestions people on here had and how they manage their iPads? Your comments would be a help! Thanks Dan
