Thanks Brimstone. I'm aware you can get them to turn it off, but they're not! It's too much of a headache to leave on though, so we may have to switched to managed Apple IDs. I'm really disappointed with Apple to be honest. There have been so many things like this implemented since we deployed iPads, I don't think they comprehend how much of a headache it is. Our reseller has been less than helpful too.

Hi all, We have around 600 iPads at our school and use Meraki as our MDM. Everything works pretty well(ish) overall, but we're starting to have issues with pupils switching on 2-Step Verification on their iPads. We have always set up their Apple ID's for them so we have control over them but after the last couple of iOS updates, they have been given the option to add 2SV and it's giving us a massive headache when they forget their Apple ID password etc. as they have linked it to their personal mobile. Aside from managed Apple ID's which I haven't gone down the route of yet as a) I haven't had enough time to properly investigate, b) I want to make sure actually works and c) I ideally don't want some managed and some not, so would have to switch all to manage which is probably a huge headache to do, I don't know what else to do. Any help or advice if you are in a similar situation, would be much appreciated. SG

Digital Student Planners - What are people using?
scubagirl replied to scubagirl's topic in Educational Software
Hi edmokeski, That's really interesting. I thought there must be other schools in a similar position. We're also a G Suite school, although apart from cloud-hosted email, I'm not honestly sure how much Google Drive and the apps get used, as we also have Microsoft Office on the PC's and iWork apps on the iPads. I didn't get to BETT this year - too much work to go! Couldn't agree more re: VLE! That's great, feedback, thanks so much for your input. -
Morning all, We have 1:1 iPads at my 3-18 school and are looking at replacing paper-based student planners with digital ones (preferably without spending a fortune). What are other people using? We have iSAMS as our MIS so it would need to integrate with that (obviously), to prevent me from having another system that needs administering separately Boomerang is on my radar at the moment. Many thanks in advance, ScubaGirl

Hi all, We use the free (old, unsupported) version of Meraki at our school which works fine for the most part. We're looking at the possibility of switching MDM's over the summer hols but are in a kind of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' sort of situation. Especially when some MDMs are ridiculously expensive and we're okay with a free version atm. The main problem I have is that our Head wants to stop pupils from downloading apps and only allow apps that have been pushed out via Meraki/VPP. The trouble is, when we choose not to allow installing apps in their profile, it removes their app store, therefore also prevents their iPad from receiving pushed out apps! Does anyone else have this issue? If so, how did you get around it? Do you have an MDM that allows management of this kind of situation? Many thanks for anyone who can help, Jo
