It might not be a google chrome setting it could be a setting to do with the profiles on the PC? Do you have local profiles or do you redirect user profiles to a certain location?

OK 1st issue is a weird one - we don't have that issue here and teachers use the switch user function in w10 all the time - chrome opens for each user that switches user. 2nd issue is simple - because the other members of staff signed in with the "teacher who was off's" user account - anything they did on that teachers user account will be there for that teacher to see when they returned from ilness and singed in, browser history, usernames and passwords. Put simply the cover staff should not have been given the "teacher who was ill's" username and password as whilst sharing user accounts used to be the norm 10 to 20 years ago that is a big no no nowadays. Theres no security issue or anything to worry about with issue 2 - just very bad user/security habits which you need to change, politely. Issue 1 seems to be some kind of bug or as people have said above could be something set up wrong with the user profiles in group policy

Yeh but then you've got the potch of getting it all back up and running and hoping nothing goes wrong? Was the config backuped? What about the changes you made at 3.59 last night will they be lost? Etc? I preferred for it not to fail in the first place and the VM solves that issue.

Dont have unifi any more but when I did I would never use a physical cloud key as it's a garunteed single point of faliure built onto a cheap component - instead just created a VM and installed the windows cloud key software that way it inherits the ultra-reliability (hopefully) of your VM infratructure.

If it's Gov network > Gov network then it's fully encrypted. So that should cover LA, Police, NHS. Police round here have a new system the last couple of years that does encrypted uploads of files - used it lots for CCTV footage etc it's much more secure than using email. If it's an exam board or something seperate then yeh but bare in mind putting passwords on word docs or zip files isnt really very secure nowadays as most modern PCs are powerful enough to brute force those. Better off encrypting the entire email chain point to point either built in tools or third party like Egress. Even better - just don't send them the data file at all, either insist that they put it on a secure online system (like the police hve now done) or use your own sharepoint etc and share it with them that wasy you can control editing/downloads etc.

This is an interesting one, I know lots of places are doing this now. The worrying thing is that I've actually saved more than one persons Job during investigations by being able to go back 2 or 3 years in office365. If everything was fixed to 12 months here then those staff would have likely been toast. That worrys me. Imagine your under investigation and you've now go no proof of anything that went on for the investigator as it's over 12 months ago? You'd be screwed!

It's sad but it's true! Powerwash is so fast. Just make sure google drive storage is forced on so that your not deleting pupils files on the actual chromebook.

Sounds like your in the right place, but bare in mind those settings can be overridden further down the organisational unit tree so there could be settings set further down at the user OU level or at the chromebook OU level depending on how many OU's youve set up. If you stay on that setting but start clicking sub-OUs you might find the OU that has the setting set.

It's a typo seems to be same price as the 65" but the 86" is only 1278 so they do seem to be cheap as chips - and thats including VAT! (Assuming ......................the whole range isn't a typo which it could be)

Thats what chromebooks were for as back then you could pick up dells or lenovos for 140 ish each and they would have still worked perfectly now.

Yep use vault - but come back to the parent and ask them to be more explicit on the exact information they require, as just searching for all emails on a pupil for no real reason would probably return hundreds or thousands of emails and could be considered onerous and thus you could refuse.

Still using MDT and WDS here to deploy W11 (and some W10) images, I see no reason to change until forced as it just works so good, fast and relaibily and frankly nothing modern looks like an imprvement and just looks like far more work to set up and run.

I would try to use online software as historically physical cad software has been nothing but problematic and things are going more and more online now. We use Onshape and Fusion360 here and the DT dept seem very happy with both. (onshape seems better/easier)

It is a risk - your already 5 years into it's software cycle. Apple hardware generally significanly outlasts its software update limit. If your happy to maybe put windows or chrome flex on it after it stops recieveing updates and loses access to modern apps that could be a good way to future proof.

They released an update that bricked the boards. You must have been unlucky enough for your board to pick it up. Disable auto updates on Smartboards as they can't be trusted to test updates properly.

You can bet your bottom dollar whoever awared the contract to geobook was a director of the geobook company as that's how all that stuff tends to work.

Frankly if your using any of the third party voice to text (as opposed to that built into google/microsoft) it's the wild west. You'd have to deal with each company individually and try and get a DPIA or soemthing which won't be easy. At the very least study the permissions on play store etc carefully as some apps have acccess to a rediculous amount of unneeded info that you have then effectively lost control over.

ESS are bullying LEAS to make them unable to provide any such support especially database migration. It's part of their new offering SIMSAntiCompetitive

Its highly unlikely ESS will let you do anything other than Migrate to SIMS connected and probably sign another 3 year contract.

I too would like to know where you are getting the market value information from. Generally a company writes off 100% of the value of it's equipment within three years (often 1 year) which then has a value of zero I.e it's scrap. How can something which is written off as being worth zero then go on to have a fair market value of £100?
