Its been a couple of years since your post, what was your experience been like with those Dell lappy's from circular computing?

Those Geobooks...... boom and bust, mostly bust.

1. Always ensure your IT equipment is disposed of through a certified e-waste recycling service, even if it for onward sale and re-use. Keep a detailed record of all IT equipment that is decommissioned, including serial numbers, the type of data wiped, and the disposal method used. Ask your reuse or recycling company for a complete disposal report, providing full accountability for each device. My best suggestion would be to partner with your ITAD / Recycler and ask them if they could donate some of the equipment to your freinds son. We also have a few hundred Chromebooks that are past AUE but are still in a great (newish) condition, it would be a shame to recycle them, anyone had any experience in repurposing or using beyond end of support?

@DrCheese "I butchered them to make them "365 books...." So, we can turn an old W10 laptop into a W365 book without worrying about W10 turn off next year?

That sounds like a great idea! Can that be done to non-W10 laptops?

Is it essential to have apps from the play store?

Thats interesting Tim, thanks, they are technically not W11 compliant and although I have heard that you can load up W11 on a W10 only device, im not confident that this will 100% be supported down the line. I think its only a matter of time beofre they close the loop.."BUT" Id be equally keen to follow your progress on your new W11 devices to see if they keep getting all the updates etc, security etc. T470 is what we are looking at upgrading, Ci5 7th Gen TPM 2.0 16/256

Hello, Would you consider upgrading W10 only devices to ChromeFlexOS? Sounds like an obvious choice if you have a mixed OS environment, Im curious to know your expereinces and if this should be a serious strategy or a non-starter. Thank you! Conrad

Hi Dalek, You are right, the T480 is a great work horse but im surprised that you dont feel the CPU is up to performance requiorements, what apps are you running? Perhaps they could do with new SSD's and 16Gb, after reloading the OS, that would give them a good boost of performance? Maybe you can try T490 or T14 G1 with Ci7 which will have better performance and reasonable cost. Best of luck and update us as to your choice and how you get on. Cheers, Conrad
