Realistically they should be getting the connection from the local authority complete with the local authority's filtering and firewall set up to make it all safe? It's unusual for a school to just go buy a home broadband package with a cheap router as you've got no proper firewall, no proper internet filtering, and no hope of meeting safeguarding rules and regulations. BT won't help with that it is beyond their remit - you basically are not a home user and shouldnt be using it? (That said, I totally understand you are only trying to help the poor school to get something better so I am not having a go.)

I wouldnt buy a mars bar off them. Sadly you can create and be directors of as many companies as you want there's nothing when you create a new one that says "hand on you've already been a director of 20 failed companies no way can you create a new one" which is the govt fault really they could do way more to stop this.

Even if it's not three phase taking a second feed for UPS 2 from a seperate consumer unit in the building is a good idea as it will increase uptime as if a cleaner plugs a broken vaccum in outside the server room and trips the whole consumer unit out (happens!) then the other consumer unit the other end of the building will still keep the server room going. Depends on your funding but IMHO well worth a few hundred quid for a leccy to fit an extra cable run. We're three phase so I have one UPS running off one phase (say blue) on one consumer unit and the other running off another phase (say yellow) from a seperare consumer unit so if a UPS fails we stay up, if a consumer units trips we stay up, even if a phase goes down in the enitre school - which has happened, the server room keeps going. The only actual downtime I've ever had that wasn't automatically mitigated by the mutiple ups/multiple phases approach was when Western power installed an entire new substation for us which was unavoidable downtime and secondly when we had a power cut to the entire town - about 20 square miles taken out for 6 hours - again beyond my control.

Yep the second picture is the one you want as it fully protects from surges and sags. Try and make sure that both UPS's are big enough to handle being able to power both servers on just one of the UPS's - just incase a UPS goes down or like you say you need to do maintenance. If you underspec the UPSs you will go through/damage batteries and during power cuts you'll only have 10 minutes grace. If you overspec the UPS's the batteries last much much longer, mine are over 6 years old now original batterys no swelling and still 1 hour of runtime.

Would be beter if you can use not just the parent email address but the parent phone number to confirm ownership. Most systems also need some sort of confirmation of the childs name or date of birth too.

I guess you'll have to put a call in with HWB support. We dont use it much only for assessments but the few times I've had to contact their support they've been helpful.

It's good progress. The problem with MIS in Wales is that due to Welsh Gov rules and regs we need the MIS to have actual physical changes with some bits and bobs specifically for Wales put in. We've been stuck in a chicken and egg situation for years as for example Bromcom wouldnt make the "Wales changes" until they had some Welsh schools coming on board, which isn't gonna happen, untill after the changes have been made. I had this conversation with Bromcom at Bett a few years ago. They said we can't spend the time and money to make the changes when we have no welsh customers. Do you want to be our first Welsh customer? I told them sadly, not yet, and that they would continue to get absoloutly 0 welsh schools on board if they didnt make the changes to the MIS first. Looks like that has been solved now and I assume the changes made. The floodgates might open in the rest of Wales.

Your OVS third party you buy the licences from will be able to give you an accurate version of whatever those rules are now.

I would suggest you reboot the server with the print queue on, I assume that is the same server as papercut is installed on. Give it a reboot, log out of the PC and back into the PC and see if the follow me printer re-apears.

See what they need to do now is say this must never happen - and audit exactly what went on when that bulding was built, who approved the plans how the council dealt with all of the decision making back in the day, were they brown envelopes full of cash involved and if so to whom, and make it public. The total lack of accountability at LA level needs to stop. Sadly as per usual nothing will be done nothing will change and thats another bunch of millions of quid of tax payers money totally wasted.

Get a new timetabler. It will be cheaper over the next 5 years than paying £4k a year for a piece of software that hasnt changed since 1998.

I do it personally - but my printers are out of date now, 2 x Voron V0.1 1 x Qidi X-CF Pro and 1 x Qidi X-Maker Slow by modern standards but still work. Maybe one day I wil get something faster/better. Ilike the QIDI's as theyre enclosed and can print more professional materials ABS, Nylon, carbon infused etc. In school we have a fleet of Ender 3 pro's as they're easy/cheap. We've just bought 20 Bambu A1 minis for primary schools. Hopefully I'll get to play with one soon.

Let me know what you decide, I've just picked up a 3090 for the 3070 and I will likely try and pick up anothher 3090 or 3080 for the other rig so should have both the 3070 and 3060 spare soon. 3060 is a 12 GB one so - nice.

Been eying them up but still running one rig on a 3060 12GB which I paid 180 for and the other on a 3070 FE 8GB which i paid about 250 for and given the B580 is not more perfromant than those and really not any cheraper - it's not an upgrade. I avoided the 4060/4070 as really they don't offer that much more and at great cost. Dont get me wrong it's good to have more competition in the market but it actually needs to be better than the competition or singificantly undercut the price. As it stands the 3070 is best bang for the buck if 1080p or 1440p even with only 8GB

You might well be able to fish the HDMI lead down the wall behind the plasterboard and pop it out through a hole lower down. Easier said than done though (but if you've got a friendly electricican that does that stuff all day they could probably do it in 15 mins.)

I think what they are saying is it is an installation issue and thus up to the installer (electrician) to make sure it is safe the correct wiring thickness correct fuse on the spur and ultimately correct MCB rating. If the electrician wires up far too many computers onto one 32 amp breaker, that is the electricians fault not the computer manufacturers fault and they Dell won't reccomend the breaker size as it's purely an installation issue not a manufacturer issue. See what I mean?

I am sure I have seen that, if the PC doesnt have the correct drivers for the network card in the build images. It needs to be in the WDS build image too not just the MDT Drivers section.

Your exprience is still accurate. Centralised purchasing sounds good in principle and it does work better for schools with no IT expertise (often primaries etc) but sadly 90% of the time for secondaries with good IT teams it ends up working out more expensive as the IT teams can negotiate much more flexibly with many suppliers - there's been no centralised purchasing in Wales at least in the last 10 years where I couldnt have got the devices for roughly the same price or soemtimes even cheaper being able to bat a quote out to 5 suppliers and pick the best value one there and then. The potential cost savings from mass purchase frameworks always seem to be eroded by the cost of the actual procurement itself in terms of staff time/consultants/etc.
