I'm working on trying to get something similar in place. I'm currently looking at the Schneider's ecostruxure platform, just getting pricing is turning out to be a nightmare!

We've got a bunch of T610 Ruckus points covering outdoor areas. Solid bit of kit. Most impressive one is on our "jousting field", with line of sight 150m-200m range isn't a problem. We use that area for outdoor summer events, small festivals etc. Single T610 covering the area works fine Other areas we cover with the same APs, outdoor teaching spaces, general areas outdoor used for weddings and events in marquees, muster points etc

We always have SC connectors installed on the patch panels for exactly that reason, the SC plugs are dead easy to split and put back together. Then SC - LC flyleads

veeam too as others have said, no point in the physical, quicker to do a fresh install if one fails

I couldn't get docker to work on ubuntu or server 22. Synology DSM has an almost one click install for docker. We've been running xibo on windows 10 machines now for about 5 weeks with only teething issues.

The beauty of a cluster is that if one runs like crap (as op states) you can just bring it offline, fix/rebuild quickly and easily or even add additional nodes. live migrate your VMs to another host and rebuild the dodgy host. it's probably quicker to do that than try repairing etc. Unless that's not an option?

You can get SIP loudspeakers and set them all to answer from the same extension. Then only allow them to be dialled from a specific set of phones. Alarms and things, I've gone the IoT route with MOXA, it gives a lot more flexibility in the future.

500 named licenses, allows user to be logged into two devices at once, install on personal devices too. Less than 3k. Deployed the creative cloud desktop app through sccm to everything, gave every student a license. Job done Syncs with azure and licenses based on group membership but needed an Azure A1 license, picked that up for ~£500. We heavily push BYOD to our students so named licenses are the way to go for us

Assuming that the end of the lease is also the end of the warranty period? If you picked the second option and kept the equipment and supported it yourself, what's the cost of a warranty extension? Make sure this is arranged before the warranty lapses otherwise there will be an onboarding fee from the manufacturer. Weigh the cost of the warranty extension with the one off fee vs the cost of new. If you're virtual, it's a doddle to move everything across to the new hosts and drop the old servers on the owners doorstep

Ubiq are sketchy, stay away from them! I'm at the early stages of planning a similar project, we're currently Ruckus (which has been rock solid), Guest access provisioning in Ruckus is very "hotel-y" Reception generates a code and gives to visitor on arrival, I like that. But I've literally narrowed it down to Ruckus or Aruba.

Got something to add to this if you're still puzzled. I updated our Smoothwall to Leeds 49. RADIUS totally died and nothing could connect to our BYOD. Rolled back to 48 and everything worked as normal again
