What's The Easiest Way To Disable The Calculator In Windows
slugshead replied to Fazza's topic in Windows 10
this will break more than it fixes, you're better off leaving the store apps installed, setting up the store for business (whilst you still can) and use applocker to deny access to the apps -
This will always be the problem, as myself and others have done, convert content people already make into what gets displayed - It's "Automatic" then. Easiest way, if anything can provide an RSS feed, all the social media platforms do this, wordpress too. Just embed that, that way it's pretty instant and you dont need to worry about a thing

This. Use a USB C dock aswell and you've got even more monitor capabilities. If the goal is more monitors, just use the onboard. If you're looking for something for photoshop/illustrator, a 710/730 is a downgrade

Got it on the final attempt - was a tough one

Managed to get some 1050's around £100 before Christmas Seems totally counter productive these days to get the 7xx GPUs. At home, the GTX 770 is my old old gpu (770 > 1070 > 3070). 710's were released in 2015 730's were released in 2014 Intel builtin is more capable

Doing these kind of things in house means you can hunt for a product that works for you, not just what a sales person says. This solution parts were pricey, other parts not to. The cheaper bit is the bit that scales. The radio software was a like £3000, but then the radios/repeaters are expensive (imo) handsets are £350 a piece, the masts and repeaters were again a few thousand. 3CX - Free 4 x SIP Trunks - £30/mo The scaleable bit consists of., just multiply it up by the number of places you want sirens/call points MOXA - £150 Rack mount DIN Rail - £15 Solid state DIN Mount relay - £10 12v DIN mount PSU - £20 240v Air raid Siren - £90 Emergency shutdown red button - £5 Then just the cost of some electrical cabling to connect it all together (200m 3 core flex is like £100) the moxas will do snmp, sms etc natively too

Mixture of different panels some advance, mostly older conventional panels. But we've actually got this in place, https://www.drax360.com/alarm-management?hsLang=en It reads as an alarm management suite, but it's just fire really. the alarm management package in the radio system does the real integration little interfaces that connect to the serial ports on the panels and reports back to a console in reception, that system generates an email to the radio system, which then generates the audible messages to radios etc.

I've got a system in place for this, which I spent most of last summer installing. Backend Site wide communication platform with Motorola Radios running their "Trbonet" software, including alarm management module. https://trbonet.com/solutions/alarm-management/ Email (G-Suite) Hosted voice for desk telephones Onsite 3cx PBX with a couple of trunks MOXA modbus/IP interfaces https://www.moxa.com/en/products/industrial-edge-connectivity/controllers-and-ios/universal-controllers-and-i-os/iologik-e2200-series What's interesting is how it's possible to integrate everything using the alarm management software. The radio software can monitor a mailbox, act as a SIP extension, connect to modbus IP devices (Both read and write) and even has a text to speech engine. Someone presses a button connected to a MOXA (Think the emergency stop style). Radio system notices the state of an input on a moxa is up. Radio system sends a prewritten email to a distribution group, plays TTS message over all radios on all channels, dials a designated tannoy extension (one phone per room added to the tannoy group) and plays the same message and then triggers various outputs on other MOXAs, connected to sirens/strobes. But think bigger, more rules/interfaces, you could use this to lock your buildings down with some clever wiring. The other thing I've done with the exact same back end, fire panels to email the radio system when an alarm is triggered with the details of which building/thing has triggered it. Rules on the alarm system to inform the correct people and play a message over radios.

How are you doing online admissions forms?
slugshead replied to Tubby_The_Tuba's topic in Cloud Services
We've just bought openapply after lots of recommendations from other colleges in our group https://www.openapply.com/ -
Are you looking at basic standalone VR headsets or one more suited for real VR? We've got a bunch of HTC vives dotted around connected to some gaming comps (decent gpu and i7). They're just peripherals. The one in our main IT Suite is always plugged in ready to rock, quite normal to see students at lunchtime playing beat saber and superhotVR

I use active backup for g-suite, not had to restore from it (yet) but there's lots of points to restore from.

You can do it without powershell, open up AD. Go to the OU with your users, click export and choose CSV. Just add the job title column to AD first

What errors is it throwing up when it fails? Probably more in the event logs

So, I went from exchange on prem to Google. Slightly different but the same method applies. Get people to do it themselves! write instructions and let them know the consequences of not following them. I only had one complaint, 3 years afterwards where someone wanted a file from their old mailbox. The servers and backups were long gone by then.

Perhaps the licenses was manually added to said user outside of the auto licensing section? open up the admin portal, find the user, go to licenses on and mapps and see if anything is ticked in there. This is where you would override the auto provisioning.

£80-90k 3 x Lenovo SR630 With 2 overkill Xeon gold chips and 512Gb ram 1 x Lenovo DE4000F all flash array - 56TB (Lenovos DE series are a collaboration with Netapp) Badass switches with 24 ports of SFP+ (plus the modules) 5 year warranty. Installation/configuration comparable dell/HPE were almost double the cost and didn't consist of a full flash array. This was almost 2 years ago now and I've not had a single issue. They're rapid. Re used the old SAN as a NAS, old hosts rebuilt as standalone for testing etc. I can share the details of the company I went through if you're interested via PM.

Surface Pro for teachers. Enforced BYOD for students. (We tell them as part of admissions to buy a laptop/tablet of XYZ spec). We did toy with the idea of incorporating a suitable device into the school fees, provide them with 2 years o365/adobe cc then they keep the device at the end. But that didn't work out.

I implemented something like this in a bunch of schools before, there was a book in the staff room where any teachers would write down their IT problems, Secretary would collect the book on a Friday afternoon and ring them all through to our helpdesk. I would receive all the tickets (Via the ticketing) then would spend a morning or afternoon at each school working through all of the jobs. This was in primary schools and I worked for LEA team at the time though, being on site is different beast.

Sadly this is a culture change kind of thing. My first question these days when someone asks me a question "Is it in *****Desk?" When they respond "No", I respond with "Can you put it in and i'll be able to take a look" It's been 4 years and I'm still repeating myself... It has become less since our facilities management team have onboarded the ticketing system too and it's turned into a one stop shop regardless of which dept the request is to go to.
