Three servers 1, WSUS 2, SCCM (recently deployed 2103 and I'm super happy with it) 3, SQL (Important not to use WID for WSUS when using in conjunction with SCCM). WSUS and SCCM Need plenty of space but will give you the control you need, auto updates from wsus still work then with SCCM the ability to "push" updates with deadlines etc...

We're not using TDSi but I may have some insight.. We're using Grosvenor Sateon, it's been replaced with a newer backend but I've got no plans of replacing all the controllers. I've got a mixture of wired and wireless locks running on the system. Wired for main doors, where maglocks are in place with HID readers/Automatic doors/ANPR etc... Wireless Aperio H100 door handles on student dorms, euro cylinder in the lock is the "manual override". These are pricey though, they look the part and functionality is great. Very picky about fitting though, not much tolerance for errors or they just go into error, but this is all in the fitting. My assumption is that it's all about the requirements at a specific location and you go with what works best for that door, then standardise on that deployment for that use case.

Hands down the 54XX. I'm using a 5412 as the core and then branched out to a few 5406's with bonded links (2x10gb) before going down to the single (1/10gb) links to access switches.

I'm running three Smoothwall S14's. I'd strongly recommend. They just do everything you need and the guys at Smoothwall will set them up for you too. They've got a meatier appliance coming out soon too. I've had pricing on replacing the S14's with Fortinet equivalent, I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the price......

If you've got an APC UPS, you can get them for them and configure email alerts etc The NICs for the UPS' are expensive though

They don't work over traditional wi-fi, it's "wi-fi direct" so kind of like bluetooth but using the wi-fi capabilities instead. You just need to be in range to connect and put the pairing pin in. There's less to go wrong in our environment as the dedicated physical cable is the one thing that gets unplugged almost every single night, in every single classroom. I did run a test, video playback is okay, but I left a video playing on a friday when I left for the weekend, came back on monday and it was still looping.

I would have a hybrid, with all the bells and whistles in terms of integration and seamlessness setup. Infrastructure on prem (DC, AD etc...) services in cloud (VOIP, email, collab tools) Auth hybrid - onprem AD sync to azure AD, SSO enabled, G-Suite connectors enabled to Azure. No need to put a DC in the cloud when there's technologies such as always on vpn and direct access. Storage a mixture. This is the tricky part. Students primarily Google drive/OneDrive for basic day to day and general work. Infrastructure would run on SAN, backup to NAS (in the same server room). With backup job replicating to an alternate location on campus. Then a third backup task to an offsite NAS in a collocate data centre. Dedicated NAS for those who need a lot of space, think art students who are learning to edit video... Second NAS in a different location on campus backing up that data.

Less hassle to look at your retention schedules and say that you will only keep student data for the duration of their stay at your school. To summarise the legal requirements, Article 5 (e) of the GDPR states personal data shall be kept for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it is being processed

This is similar what I've just done in all our meeting rooms, works great too! I've got Prowise screens in the classrooms but the built in mirroring is absolute trash, so I've also put the MS adaptors in all the classrooms

I tried this when we initially went to G-Suite 2 years ago, had no end of hassle trying to get it to work properly. I ended up exporting from Exchange into a CSV and uploading that. We've been buying Samsung TVs, £500-£600 for 65" ones, 4k HDMI in, builtin speakers etc etc, picture is REALLY crisp from a PC with a graphics card that is capable of 4k video. Plus the addition of the Logitech c920 and wireless keyboard/mouse, you've got everything you need for a really tidy meeting space or great workstation at a low cost.

The multiple mics with the mixer is fine, they just need to turn it on and dont worry. I set the levels beforehand and put a marker on the fader. We're actually using Nikon D5600's on tripods - Overkill, but lets face it, student photography classes aren't happening any time soon.. But that setup would be 4 mics (£150 each for beyerdynamics), Behringer RX1202FX mixer (£120), ATEM mini (£400) then the cost of the cameras. Needless to say it can be done for cheaper, but for me it's all about giving the options

On the flip side, some other rooms I've put multiple boundary condenser mics in the ceiling around the room plugged into a mixing desk in a rack in the corner and output that to the line in of the PC. Multiple cameras hooked up with the Blackmagic ATEM mini and you've got a tonne of options to play with
