  1. Hi @soveryapt have you come across Overland Storage before? We're a reseller of their data storage solutions. I'm not an expert in the storage field, but i could arrange a quick call tomorrow afternoon if you were interested with someone that is so we know exactly what solution you're looking for so we can provide some options accordingly. Alternatively, they could do this over email if you'd prefer? We have been supplying and installing Overland into education and other markets for sometime now and always get great feedback with the solution.
  2. hi @techie08 if you wanted to review some alternative solutions we are a reseller of Overland Storage. I'm not an expert on their solution range but I could look to arrange a quick call tomorrow afternoon for you and someone that is if you would like? In the past we have come up a lot against HP and Dell solutions and more often that not the customer has gone with the Overland Storage offering. No worries if not, the offer is there if you would like it though
  3. There can be additional costs that may be associated to upgrading to 11AC. What many Wi-Fi suppliers won’t tell you is that deploying 11AC may require you to upgrade your switching infrastructure to higher powered 802.3at PoE switches to realise the full benefits of their 802.11ac access points.
  4. I have a few independent wireless reports, one from Toms Hardware, sadly 2011, and then the WLAN Pros Stress Test Report from earlier this year. Happy to pass them on if you were interested in reading them. The files are quite large so if you wanted them PM me your email address and i will pass them on. Also, in regards to 11AC, Ruckus produced quite a good blog about what you will be getting with the technology now, and in a few years. You can find their blog here: Better Wi-Fi Coming in Waves - The Ruckus Room
  5. A few people from our office, mainly Mark and Aggy who i'm sure some of you will know, are going to be there with a few of our partners including Ruckus, Juniper, Palo Alto, Kaspersky and Overland Storage. I think they're planning on going down both days. If any of you would like to meet up with either of them, or one of our partners let me know and we can get something sorted
  6. My understanding with regards to schools having 2FA is that is was 'preferable' to have it but due to the cost implication it wasn't ruled as a legl requirement, although i may be wrong, and as vikpaw said 2FA is classed as something you know and something you have, so i wouldn't think 2 sets of P/W and usernames would be classed as 2FA. If 2FA is something you wanted to look at we have supplied both Swivel and SafeNet solutions in the past.
  7. Hello all, We have mentioned this offer before, but as there are only two weeks remaining until the offer finishes once and for all I thought it deserved a new thread. Towards the start of the year Ruckus Wireless released a range of highly discounted Wi-Fi bundles including both controllers and access points all covered with 5 years direct support with Ruckus. Over the months we have had to say goodbye to some of the bundles, with the remaining few coming to an end this month. So, if you’re looking for a new wireless system look no further than Ruckus Wireless with Net-Ctrl: Wi-Fi Bundle 1 Ruckus Wireless 3050 ZoneDirector (capable of supporting 50 Aps, expandable to 500) 25 x 7363 ZoneFlex Access Points (802.11n, Dual Band) 5 Years Support with Ruckus Wireless Price= £9,200 Wi-Fi Bundle 2 Ruckus Wireless 3050 ZoneDirector 25 x 7982 ZoneFlex Access Points (802.11n, dual band, Three-stream MIMO 3x3:3) 5 Years Support with Ruckus Wireless Price= £14,200 Both bundles have the option of an additional redundant controller for an extra £1,846. Net-Ctrl is the largest Ruckus reseller in EMEA, and we have been for the past two years. We are able to provide detailed site surveys and offer technical support and teaching throughout the installation process from one of our Ruckus WiSe Guy and CWNA trained engineers. To make this great offer a little sweeter, everyone that orders one of the bundles above will be entered into a prize draw for a KindleFire HD. Feel free to send me a PM with any questions, or contact your account manager directly.
  8. A quick reminder to you all, if any of you are using some of the older Ruckus equipment you may be able to trade it in for some of the new product lines at a highly reduced rate, including both Access Points and Controllers. The promotion expires 30th September. Feel free to send me a PM or contact your account manager with any questions.
  9. I just wanted to put a quick note to say this will be an on-going activity/promotion. Vouchers will be given to the first 10 people who test and review the solution for us.
  10. Hi @Phildw if you would like to add Ruckus to the list of solutions you're looking at let me know and i can get someone to give you a call to discuss it in more detail and answer any questions. We have a dedicated Ruckus sales and tech team that would be happy to help
  11. Another solution perhaps to consider is Ucopia, you would be able to do all the above with the solution and more. They currently have some great education bundles going that may work out as a cheaper solution to the Zyxel offering if you're unable to achieve the above by other means. If it was of interest i can send some more information. Best of luck with the project though
  12. If there is anything i can do to help regarding Palo or if you have any questions please feel free to let me know. We can set-up a tech call with an SE at Palo or look at getting some trial equipment out to you. If you're already dealing with someone, i apologise for the intrusion Ignore this post. Someone else has posted on my behalf already haha
  13. hello @oalcock , i know this is a bit of an old post now but i just wanted to let you know that if you, or any one else for that matter, is having problems with Kasperskys EndPoint Security Suite do let me know and i will see if there is anything we can do to help. We have recently taken Kaspersky on as a technology partner so we are in a great position to liaise between customer and company if required to resolve any issues etc
  14. haha good to hear! If you have any further problems with them feel free to send me a PM and i will speak ask of our tech guys for some advice/suggestions.
  15. Hi @ass17 , out of interest are these Aps connected to the ZD that you're also experiencing problems with? All my wireless techs are currently on the phone, but when i can grab one i will see if they have any suggestions as to what the problem may be.
  16. Morning all, Thank you to those of you who have sent a PM over the last few days, hopefully I have answered all your questions sufficiently, if not please do let me know. We will be keeping this going for a while, ideally we would like at least 10 testers to use the trial and let us know what they think. It will really help us understand how this solution fits into education and how it performs. As a tester it will allow you to use a new solution on the market that we really like the look of, and one that could save you money whilst delivering a better service.
  17. Hello, the end-user for this trial would really be the network manager/administrator, so we're looking at getting some feedback over the coming weeks. The trial will allow you to view the network security elements, and it won't require student engagement to test. We had thought this time of year would be a good time to test of a new solution, if that's not the case please let me know and we can look into it
  18. Net-Ctrl is in need of some EduGeek Testers to trial a new security solution suite from Kaspersky lab and in exchange for some feedback we will give you £25 worth of vouchers for a store of your choice. Net-Ctrl has recently added the Kaspersky Lab Endpoint Security Suite to our security solution portfolio. A single solution all under a ‘single pane of glass’ including a new market leading mobile device management, systems management, Encryption, endpoint security and more. What we would like is to have some of the EduGeek community take a 2 week trial of the solution that will cover 100 endpoints and provide feedback on how you found it; in exchange we will give you £25 worth of vouchers for a store of your choice. The feedback you give can be good or bad we would really appreciate your honest opinion, what we really want to see is how this solution fits into education, how it performs, how you rate it against the competition and is it something you could see being adopted at your School/College/University. Please click here for more details about Kaspersky and how to claim your £25 voucher, there is also a short registration form to fill in if you’re interested in participating. Once completed we will send you an email containing the trial and product key as well as some instructions to get you going. Any questions please ask on here or send a PM and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Please note you will need 100+ endpoints devices in your environment to be eligible for the trial.
  19. Net-Ctrl will be exhibiting at the Torquay edition of the ICT for Education conference programme. The conference itself hopes to attract 100+ attendees on the day from primary and secondary schools in the area and boasts a selection of great speakers throughout the day. The conference is being held on Friday 12th July at the Imperial Hotel, attendance is free for all delegates. We will be on stand number 2, and showcasing the latest technologies available from Ruckus Wireless and some information on our other complimentary solutions. If you are based in or near the area or know someone that is and would like to attend click here to register for your conference badge, if you are planning on going let us know and we will keep an eye out for you on the day
  20. hello, I have just received confirmation from both Ruckus and our distribution that the 3050 bundles outlined in the original post are being extended until the end of August 2013. If you're looking at a new wireless deployments, its well worth taking a look at their special bundles whilst they're available, they all provide some huge savings on the Ruckus solution.
  21. hello all sorry for the lack of contact. This event had been finalised twice, the first time the venue fell through just before it all being announced, and the second time the Juniper engineer had to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances. Due to time before the summer break fast approaching, we have regrettably had to delay the event until September. I really am sorry we couldnt get this running before the summer break. More details will follow soon
  22. At Net-Ctrl we’re very selective with whom we partner. We provide solutions that we know deliver great performance at an affordable price. We don’t supply competing product, we will only partner with one manufacture in a particular area. We have built a long-term relationship with Overland Storage because they have excellent, market-leading solutions ideal for education, where budgets are tight and demands are high. If you’re looking at SAN/NAS/Tape we would really appreciate it if you let us know, so that we can speak to you about the Overland Storage solution. We will work to keep it all within your budget, and you may be surprised how far your budget will stretch! Within education we often come up against a lot of HP and DELL competition and the Overland offering at the end of the process has been given the go ahead on the majority of occasions. So if you are looking now or the near future at storage, please do let us know

The Mobotix cameras are brilliant! The Q24 in particular is such a good versatile camera, and their new(ish) S15 cameras are really clever. Our sister company do a lot of Mobotix and Axis combo deployment coupled with the Milestone suite where necessary, results are great.

  25. Hi @Simcfc73 i ut your question to one of our wireless techs here, and this is his response, i hope it helps! You will still gain all the massive enhancements over the Physical Layer from a Wi-Fi point of view.. and at the end of the day that is what Wi-Fi is for, right? You want reliable constant, high dense wireless availability… You’ll still get that with the AP alone. Here is what you will get: 1)Ruckus’ smart BeamFlex technology (What makes Ruckus so great) 2)ChannelFly (the new Ruckus smart channel selection methods) 3)8 SSIDs per radio(16 with a dual band) Here is what you miss by not having a ZD: 1)Guest Access features 2)SPoM (Single point of mgmt.) 3)WLAN service scheduling 4)Bandsteering (steers 5ghz clients onto the 5ghz radio) 5)WIPs (wireless intrusion prevention) 6)Hotspot 7)Access Policies (Device based / Layer 2-4) 8)AD Captive portal 9)DPSK Etc.. the list goes on. The point is with the AP alone you are still winning over having anything else with all the bells and whistle… Great Wi-Fi is always going to be better than Google maps integration. Get the APs now for a seriously good WiFi network and get the controller at a later date, should you need it.
