How much cat cabling would you need to terminate? Mostly it's already installed in buildings already... You wouldn't necessarily even need to add computers, you could utilise the app on existing relevant staff PCs?

I've just gone on the maximum that's possible from each technology. Just for reference our suite idles around 50w per PC including the monitor. they have 250w PSU and using Kodu and Chrome and and an Office package they jump up to 90w+

I would not ever install a new coax system unless it was absolutely tiny, structured cabling will always be easier and more scalable. Cameras for IP will only get cheaper and better and you have far more flexibility in terms of ways to view - I've used windows 10 in Kiosk mode to facilitate a viewing station.

We're sort of going half way with this... Curriculum mobile devices are all being replaced with Chromebooks, mainly thanks to the DfE scheme kickstarting something I've been trying to get going for years! We will be retaining at least one suite of wired windows computers for specialist software and for system familiarity for the foreseeable future. Even taking into account the electricity costs of charging a Chromebook with a 35w USB C charger there is a substantial saving to be had over the 65-90w chargers of our current HP and Dell laptops and the 250w of one 35 seat suite that we're retiring.

Estates have access to ours, but it's only the senior member of staff on duty on any given day that has the bunch of keys with the server room on it.

can the installer be batch scripted silent as that is often more immediate. Bearing in mind that as it is a NIC you probably want to copy the payload to the machine first and run it locally

They're blaming 'IT', but I'm told by an acquaintance who works for PespiCo that the problematic IT upgrade is actually a warehouse automation project that ran long and had issues that prevented goods in and out and production had to be scaled back to accomodate reduced warehouse throughput. Sounds like a facilities issue to me...

Whilst I completely agree with you, we had to do it location based for office 365 to avoid the potential safeguarding issues of having staff getting phones out all over the place.

Stupid question... have you restarted the server? I have a site that does something similar. a hang of up to 45 minutes logging on, stuck on installing priners. No hang when pressing print, but a Verrrry long wait for the job to arrive as printable in the spooler and then a 2-45 minute wait for it to come out of the copier. Restarting the server, and ensuring the server is restarted frequently (once a fortnight) seems to keep it at bay.

Yeah, we got donated 5 from a local company that didn't come with edu upgrades, so we bought some for them. I think we paid something like £26 +vat for them.

One of my schools has had approximately 60 chrome devices off the DfE with edu upgrade licences. 50 of them are HP, 10 of them were Samsung, my other school had 40 devices, of which 30 are Samsung, 10 are HP. We've swapped the devices between the schools having been given the OK to do so by the DfE, but we have an issue with devices that were provisioned in one domain not releasing a licence when de provisioned to allow the exchange to be provisioned in the new domain. Is there a way anyone can sort this out. The DfE have tried to help but their instructions leave a licensing total of 'X upgrades no longer available' in the original domain?
