Hi all, I am having a bit of trouble with our DVR, I have never used it as it has been happily running for longer than I have been here (About 10-12 years I believe)- or so I thought. I went to access the footage on there but it constantly reports "No file found"- I am not too interested in the file itself as the issue has now been resolved, but does anybody know how to check it is actually recording and where to? I have checked the manuals online, and I can't seem to find where it is. There is a manual record option but it seems that whenever I turn it on it turns itself off as soon as I exit the menu? I also tried to call their support but I cannot find hide nor hair of their creators, which I believe are LJD Digital, due to the splash screen when I reboot it and the logo in the manual. It is a Colossus 16 DVR, I don't know anything about it other than that.

This is an interesting one, and I want to pick people's brains who have done this. My daughter has just taken on a stable yard, and I've installed networkable DVR's. There are 2 DVRs in disparate buildings. One in the main house, and one in a stable block approx 100m away, around a walled corner. Between the house and the stable block is concrete, right up to the wall, so running cable is tricky/expensive (esp for protective trunking). She has a normal home wifi network, and I want to join the 2 buildings together. I need suggestions for good kit, for an outdoor bridge system. Thanks in advance, for any help.

in the picture attached there is two designs; Design A uses an analogue 4k camera and RG60 Coax cable with BNC fittings, from there it goes to a 5 way BNC splitter then one coax cable goes to a DVR then from there HDMI to a wall monitor, the rest of the coax cables each go to 4 monitors and terminate to either the monitor directly if it supports BNC fitting or it would terminate to a simple BNC to HDMI converter. Design B uses a 4K Poe camera that goes to a DVR then from the DVR two HDMI cables come out one goes to the monitor and one goes to a HDMI to Ethernet converter, then from there it goes to the network switch or a dedicated network switch then form there at each monitor the ethernet connects to a Ethernet to HDMI converter then connects to the monitor.which design is better in terms of reliability ? reliability in terms the number of failure points and overall robustness. money isn't an issue here. it seems to me the analogue option A has low latency and a very simple design with less things to go wrong, the BNC splitter is just a copper splitter, the only point of failure I can think of is the BNC to HDMI converter as those seem to break but even so it would take all 5 of them to break to take the system down, even if the DVR is down the live feed is still active.on the other hand the POE option seems to rely on multiple things, a DVR, a HDMI to Ethernet convert, a network switch, a ethernet to HDMI converter etcanyone here have any thoughts on this ?

Hi guys, I've inherited a CCTV system with Luowice CCTV cameras. We need a new DVR with 1TB of storage space. Is there anything anyone can recommend that does a good job and works well with these cameras? I've never used them before, anything to watch out for? Thanks.

Yes, another IP CCTV thead! First, a little history: Our new head started this January. One of the things he's keen on is getting rid of the current analog CCTV system (VCR, control console, tv, etc) from out of his office. As this is going to be nigh impossible actually move I'm hoping to actually replace it with an IP CCTV solution. So far I've looked at the other threads which have all got good info in them regarding makes/models of IP CCTV cameras and software solutions. On the camera sides of things we'll probably replace the current crop (about 10 external and 6 internal) of analog cameras (as they aren't amazing) and a replacement ACTi IP CCTV camera can be gotten for less than AXIS want to sell me a video converter for (Video converter = £400. ACTi ACM-400 = £150)... Network wise it's not a problem unless we go silly with the number of cameras. Apart from two blocks (science). Which from a network point of view needs 'sorting' anyway. So my main problem is what sort of DVR system I want. I'm leaning towards a DIY PC solution, either using the ACTi software or the new Zoneminder 1.24 RC (which now has ACTi camera support). So has anyone built such a system? If so, what sort of spec did you have and how many cameras did it support? Plus how much storage? and how many days does that cover you for?
