It's a yes, but we force enrollment in MDM (either GWorkspace or M365) so it can be wiped remotely and policies like minimum security can be enforced.

I'd just strap a conventional dock to the wall with some fixing band and leave a flying USB-C. Easy to replace the USB when it gets worn and easy to replace the dock when it inevitably fails. https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/3922453-12mm-all-round-fixing-band-black-pvc-coated-10m-roll

Chromebook won't get IP on WAPS connected to specific switch
Oaktech replied to dgsmith's topic in ChromeOS & Cloud Based OS
Glad it appears sorted. We had a similar problem with another flavour of HP switch and we discovered in conversation with HP that ARP and MAC table cache flushes were something that was suspended if the switch recieved a sustained high CPU usage. The high CPU usage on our switches also caused the switch to crash and the latest firmware solved the crashing issue, which was advertised in the changelog. The cache flushes continuing to occur in spite of the high CPU was just incidental, but important to us! -
Chromebook won't get IP on WAPS connected to specific switch
Oaktech replied to dgsmith's topic in ChromeOS & Cloud Based OS
Have you restarted the switch and fully updated the firmware? I suspect the arp cache is not clearing on that switch. Most switches timeout the arp cache after 300 seconds, but if that mechanism isn't working you'll see that result. -
I had to call them and get it added to my VLSC - my MAT central IT could see it, but I couldn't, something to do with it not being part of my package when I had my own VLSC in the name of the school rather than the MAT licence.

Clear your browser cache. -
Right... So going to have to instruct them to export passwords from roaming copy first, then import into google account, then I can turn off the roaming copy. Ta.

Apologies for this being a very specific scenario... One of my schools uses internal roaming profiles. They have a GPO policy set to: 'Enable the creation of roaming copies for Google Chrome profile data' Which according to Google's documentation for GPO: 'This policy should not be enabled when RoamingProfileSupportEnabled policy is set to enabled as that feature shares the same client side functionality. The Google-hosted synchronization is disabled in this case completely.' breaks the ability for the data to be cloud synced, leaving it hosted locally. We've had a couple of issues with roaming profiles recently where I have had to nuke the profile from orbit and the users have lost an extensive collection of passwords, bookmarks and open tabs that we all though were being cloud synced. I'd like to remove the original policy for creation of roaming data copies but I can't find anywhere documentation of what happens to data that has already been added to the local roaming profile sync. Anyone know what the behaviour might be?

I Don't Understand (and at this point I'm afraid to ask.) Profiles?
Oaktech replied to JRA's topic in Windows 10
Yes... You need to redirect folders. I use local profiles with a 30-days-unused removal schedule for students and a 90-days-unused schedule for staff all via GPO. Mandatory profiles are still a thing, roaming profiles are just about still a thing, but they are prone to failure and generally a bad idea, User Experience Virtulisation is a thing, but I decided it was too complicated to bother with. -
I'm just evaluating this and seeing the same issue you did with a premature end of file and an epic crash out on windows... Your fork seems to have been taken down and I'd really like to try it out?

Just had service emails to say it's working but being monitored closely. I'm always sceptical of what is being monitored after those emails come out, not just from Bromcom... Which platform is being monitored, the one that has been faulty or the customer service call volume.

Go on, be brave, test it in production! :eyebrows:

If it's just the one screen, YoDeck is worth a look. We've had it in for a year now and I've just not touched it, SLT update it and the HDMI standby control turns it all on and off.

The Windows Store as changed.. now you need a login.
Oaktech replied to chazzy2501's topic in Windows 10
Doesn't seem to work any more on the windows 11 store for new aquisitions. Let me download camera app and get help as the PC already has a licence for them aquired under windows 10 but nothing new. Verifying/Requesting package acquisition... Verifying/Requesting package acquisition failed: no store account found Won't let me sign in with anything except my hotmail account. This is rubbish. -
I use it for my son, but he's always supervised with it and I've removed a few channels from it for various reasons. I wouldn't deploy it to a school environment without a thorough method statement and risk assesment from my DSL.

Can you publish your policies and policy tree for us - redact anything sensitive. If it works for one and not the other then something is different about the application of policies, or permissions on the printer share.

Unless those extra links are LACP or configured static trunks then you are creating a loop and I imagine the addition of the SFP becomes more than the loopback protection or STP mitigations can cope with.

Been there, done that... I've also cocked it up so spectacularly I've had to get a new screen bezel!

The GeoBooks we have that are double sided tape secured I've been using command strips to replace them.

November Update - 2021-11 KB5007247 - Kerberos errors
Oaktech replied to Koldov's topic in Windows Server 2012
Is it related to this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5008380-authentication-updates-cve-2021-42287-9dafac11-e0d0-4cb8-959a-143bd0201041 -
Worth noting that the A1 licence allows the use of FIDO2 tokens for passwordless or MFA. You only need premium to support OATH tokens.
