Morning all, I have been asked to sort out an iPad app for use by KS1 and SEND pupils, that provides speech to text facilities. The teacher has asked for something that allows the pupil to speak into the iPad, save their speech and convert it to text, before printing it. Obviously, considering the age group concerned, this needs to be as straightforward as possible. Any suggestions ? TIA

Hi, We provide support to a primary school that needs to purchase 30 additional iPads. They use Jamf School to manage their fleet of existing iPads. Can we source these on the open market, or do they have to come from an Education specific supplier ? Any suggestions ? TIA

Will that allow a Windows display to be shared to the iPads ? I though that was only available on IOS devices.

Thanks folks. The teacher does have a Smart board, but as with Boredguy's comment above, there is a specific requirement for three visually impaired pupils to be able to view the displayed image on their iPads. I'll have a look at the Teams route; failing that, there do seem to be various third party apps available that might help, but not an immediate, or free, option.

Afternoon all,Screen shot.docx We provide IT support to a UK primary school that uses Microsoft 365, we have inherited this role from a previous IT support company that they used. When the school's staff login via office.com, they see the usual front screen, but in this case there is also a "Shared Files" button, that provides a shortcut to their Sharepoint folders. I've attached a screenshot of this screen. This is fine for most of the staff, but there are some that should not have access to the Sharepoint folders. My question is a) does anyone know how to remove the Share files button, either entirely, or for specified users ? b) is it possible to restrict access to Sharepoint, either to specified users, or to exclude specified users ? TIA

Deploying Office 365 within a primary school Morning all, We have inherited the IT support for a local primary school. At the moment, their IT room PCs use a legacy Office 2016 licence. We would like to take advantage of their Office 365 licences and deploy that instead. In this particular school, the PCs are on the local domain and all of the pupils have their own individual domain accounts (and email address) and login to the PCs using this account. We had thought that we could create dummy Office accounts for each PC (PC1, PC2 etc), login to office.com using that account, download and install Office, job done. However, if for example, "Pupil A" then logs on using their account, Office is reporting that it is unlicenced and prompting for "Pupil A" to sign in to continue using Office. This isn't really practical in this school environment, where multiple pupils are using any given PC. I'm looking for a clever way of installing and deploying Office to these PCs. Any ideas ? Morning all, Got a problem with a Smart SPNL-6065. It's around 7 years old, out of warranty and the teacher has recently noticed a flickering at the extreme top and bottom of the board. I have tried her laptop with another board of the same model, all OK. I have tried my laptop with her board, same problem. Also tried a different HDMI cable, no change. Any ideas ? Thanks. They will boot and work with an external monitor, so assume the backlight has failed. The devices were provided to the school, who then decided which pupils should receive them. So far, only a few have been returned to be reset as per the DFE reset instructions, but it has cost the school time and money and it looks as if they may now have to source replacements.

Failed DFE supplied Geobook laptops. We have three that have failed (displays packed up) and looking at this thread it appears that many here have had similar problems. Does anyone know whether the schools have any (implicit or explicit) continuing responsibility to repair/replace DFE supplied kit ? I would have thought not, but then the DFE did expect the schools to gather these in, reset them and hand them back out again.

Thanks. Not sure that's the problem though. I have tried logging in from various devices, on different networks, different browsers etc and getting the same problem consistently. Looks like it is an account specific problem, as I can still carry out these functions on other accounts that we support. It's obviously let me into the account as Admin, but I did wonder whether there might be some sort of lock on activity within that account.

Hi, We provide IT support to a primary school. I have Admin access to their Microsoft 365 account and have routinely added users, deleted users, reset passwords etc. Yesterday, I was unable to add a new user and received an error message - "Sorry, we can't process your request right now. Wait a few minutes and then try again" I have tried again today and still receiving the same message. Similarly, currently unable to reset account passwords. There are plenty of unassigned licences. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Morning all, I'm working in a primary that has a "Log-Box", manufactured by a company called TTS. They haven't used this for years, but would like to do so. The TTS supplied software is for XP. Is anyone aware of a more recent version, compatible with Windows 10 ? TIA Simon
