  1. Alaska earthquake prompts tsunami alert - BBC News Of course the US Federal Government is in Shutdown but they kept the warning service open. No doubt Donald T will keep us all updated on Twitter.
  2. Think I will end this thread, seems like it was a flaky install of Windows. Had me hunting for a while but decided to wipe and reinstall again all updates installed ok.
  3. Hi All, Has anyone elese had this issue, Clean install of Windows 10 Edu 1709. Windows Updates done up to a point of installing KB405682 after downloading and installation, Windows update offers restart but reports back that it is failed, on checking the installed updates via control panel its installed but still receiving the Windows Update request to install the update. I have ran the windows update troubleshooter and still get the same result. Any ideas Thanks
  4. Not sure if its the best method but certainly better than trying to send them by email. Seems to work for us.
  5. We don't sync with AD. We keep curriculum and admin very much separate but I am informed that it doesn't at the moment but it is on the road-map for AD sync. This is a link to their FAQ and Documentation. https://support.scholarpack.com/hc/en-gb
  6. No issues from what I know of and no complaints or mutterings that they wished they had sims back the interface is very user friendly with large icons, pays to have a large screen for Admin though as there are quite a few but its all logical, teachers just use it for attendance I believe. The big factor was cost compared to Sims.
  7. Yes it still works and for Flash embedded notebook files that will not work in V17.

  9. We are using Lenovo Miix310 and 320 64GB 4GB RAM imaged to Windows 10EDU although they do come with Win10 Pro. All the software that we use goes on them. Teachers and children prefer them as its what they are used to in school. Cost about £200 each. 1 cracked screen so far in 6 months but it still works just put a screen protector on it. Imaging is a bit of chew on, see this thread for that, if you get some. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/o-s-deployment/189208-lenovo-miix-imaging-problems.html
  10. Does it work on Windows 10 Edu? because I stopped using it as it didn't seem to function like it did on Win 7.
  11. That's what I do most of the time but it would be a pain in a large environment.
  12. Had a similar response, its just not cost effective to fix them, so before purchasing anymore, I will have a discussion with the IT coordinator because it maybe less troublesome just to go down the Windows route on tablets because of the lifespan but all that depends on Windows and the vendors supporting the annual upgrades that Microsoft pushes out. Its seems that the days of running the latest OS whether that be Windows, Android or Apple on a device more than 2 or 3 years old, will be task for any schools budget to keep up with. I have one school that bought 24 Learnpads and they will not entertain them now because they just couldn't be confident that they would work for their lesson so they sit in their boxes doing nothing.
  13. Hi All, I have been trying to change the start menu layout as per this article: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/deploymentguys/2016/03/07/windows-10-start-layout-customization/ I have followed it and my export looks like this: After saving it to a share on the server and applying the GPO to users, the policy seems to apply but the layout is not changed as per the export but is restricted for changes by the user. Am i missing some step. I have removed the users profile from the server and the local machine checked the registry for remnants, but even with a clean profile the layout is the default user profile for the logged on user.
