Had this FOI request today: I am researching the costs associated with safeguarding students in line with the Department for Education's "Keeping Children Safe In Education" guidance and the Home Office's "Prevent" legislation. I hope that you will be able to help by providing the following information: 1. Which web filtering product does the school use? (e.g. Smoothwall Secure Web Gateway, Smoothwall UTM, RM Safetynet, Lightspeed Web Filter, etc.) 2. Is your web filtering system purchased directly by the school or provided by the LEA? 3. Does your web filtering system run on a server on the school's premises, or is it hosted off-site? (In the cloud, at the LEA's data centre, etc.) 4. What is the total duration of your web filtering contract? (e.g. 1 year, 3 years, etc.) 5. What is the total amount paid by the school for the web filtering system over your whole contract period? (i.e. If you had answered question 4 as "3 years" and pay £1000 per year, the answer to this question would be £3000.) 6. Do the costs quoted in question 5, include anything besides web filtering? (e.g. that cost may also include the internet connection itself, or other services, in addition to the actual filtering product.) 7. If your filtering system is hosted on the school's premises, do the costs quoted in question 5 include the hardware that the filtering software runs on? (When an existing filtering contract is renewed, schools can often choose not to replace the existing hardware. In that case, the answer would be "no.") 8. What speed of internet connection does the school have? 9. How many students does the school have? 10. How many staff does the school have? 11. What year did your current filtering contract begin? (this helps me evaluate how the costs have changed over time for long contracts). Thank you very much for your time. I always tot up my milage that I do for work and add a 1000 on and add 3000 for personal use. I have to have business cover because I claim my work mileage back between sites. My mileage is about 11000 per year all up.

The Northeast is very rich in photography opportunities and you'll be spoilt for choice. For Roman history you have Hadrians Wall, Binchester Roman Fort near Bishop Auckland. For industrial, look at Teeside Transporter Bridge and others in Newcastle , Roseberry Topping if you have time to walk it great views from up there on good day. Beamish Museam if you want Victorian and if your calling in Newcastle you'll pass Durham home of Durham Cathedral. Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens.

We have been having problems connecting to Apple for updates etc, so today we had a very helpful support rep from Apple help get our iPad's back online. He sent me over a link to TCP and UDP ports used by Apple https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202944 and also in the was was a bit more information about our issue. The context of the email is below. A very helpful chap. It's good to share As I mentioned in the call all our server run on an IP with 17.x.x.x. We own the 17-series so anything coming from an IP starting with 17 will be from/to an official Apple. So if possible, you can open 17.0.0.0/8 in your firewall. Otherwise some ports and servers are mentioned here, this is more for iTunes and App Store service though: https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT201999 I know albert.apple.com is used for activation of devices though, possible that might be the issue. All our ports are mentioned here, you can search this page for iCloud: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202944 I would also recommend trying to open iCloud.com.

We had the same problem so I said staff they will just have to use Google Drive and Share. Seems to have stopped the complaints.

Not sure what Google's setup is in Cambodia, but I would ask they are very helpful and if its free for Education in Cambodia like here in the uk. Then that would be my route.

We have it in our schools and to see it you have to be a follower. They generally just use for information pushes such school closures etc quick reminders for parents who follow. They manage it themselves I just make sure that its linked on the school website and admin and staff are allowed to access.

Had a black screen with some laptops Novatech running Windows 10 ver 1607 did a clean install of vers 1703 and it works fine. So I put it down to the windows drivers in the ver 1607 but with a laptop you can plug an external monitor into it and get into windows. I would stick another compatible graphics card in it as mentioned earlier by 3s-gtech.

I find if you choose your document when office is already open then it's quick but do it the other way round and it's a go slow. Always been the same with office, open the program first before selecting file especially if your machine is a bit older and not enough RAM.

If you don't have the ability to change it from the built in software then only manipulating the preferences installed on the devices is your answer I think. What we did was to setup the printer twice on the server with the driver printing preferences for BW on one and Colour on the other. Then deployed it either as BW or Colour as required for the users concerned.

Doesn't it have a web interface that lets you get into the device to change settings KM's and Olivetti MFD's do?

The last WiFi installer that gave us a quote a few years back came in with a preconfigured so and hi mobile plugged it in and checked the signal strength from room to room, then gave us a quote for about £10K putting Aps in each classroom. I eventually put in half the amount of Aps, they were Netgear WAG102s they did the job for about 4 years and I noticed that they were not keeping up with the demand so I put in the Ubiquity Aps in direct replacement about 3 years ago and they are still going strong.
