Hi, Had a few users report that they cannot get on their school email :/ Seems to be just Safari (iPhone) users. Before I go back to the website guys can anyone confirm if they visit our website: https://www.balcarras.gloucs.sch.uk/ Then from the MENU choose "Email" using an iPhone and Safari - is the page accessible? Cheers

Thanks for your reply, but if you have a cover teacher who might need access to multiple sties, I'm guessing they just use the web versions rather than the files be synced using the client?

Hi, Why did you go for separate sites rather than document libraries? How do you handle staff who work across different departments when you sync the data?

I have 400+ PDF files stored in multiple sub-folders and I'm looking for a way to join them all in to one PDF. Any ideas?

Smoothwall Safeguarding Rule Sets
kennysarmy replied to timbo343's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We added Monitor to our portfolio as the safeguarding reporting features of Filtering were not cutting it and I'm not sure you'll see anymore development of that side of the product, as you've seen the documentation is already not being kept up to date. If it helps our pastoral team love the Monitor product. -
No benefits at all, but we wanted to see if we could go completely serverless - which we have. You're still borked if you lose your internet connectivity, but no servers to continually patch is a godsend.

We opened a "cloud" only (*windows*) secondary school a few years back and there were quite a lot of teething issues - but I think it's probably as good now as we're going to get it. I don't think InTune needs to mean designated devices for staff and students.

Are they need not pre set by Smoothwall ? -
Does Chrome -> Developer Tools show anything ?

Interesting. I just created two policies; one for staff with a 3 year retention and another for 14 months, I just drop staff in to whichever one is most appropriate. Students are not included.

Just opened a P4 ticket. The support portal blurb says. P4 - Low Examples include: Minor change to customer environment. Questions or How to's. Password Resets. Change Requests (AD Groups, Distribution Groups). We aim to respond to all P4 incidents within 2 business hours and resolve within 5 business days

Saved (ExamWritePad) - then printed before they leave the room ideally. Student's don't know Exam account password, at start of next session invigilator logs account in, clears out old files and backups from previous exam and cycle begins again. Recovery would still be possible from shadow copies and backups if necessary. Don't trust USB's, work is saved to the network or cached locally if WiFi or network connection lost.

Can you swap a couple of PC's between users, one user who gets the issue and another who doesn't to narrow down if it's the user or the device at fault? Hopefully it will be the device then you can just re-image and ensure latest Windows, office version etc.

Outlook office calendar - subscribed calendar not showing items over 1 year in future Is this by design before I spend hours trying to fix this for one of my users who has subscribed to a calendar and reports items from next June (2025) are not showing up, but they do when he connects via Google? Cheers

Smoothwall not allowing Replits to work
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Second line remoted in. Category list amended to: js.stripe.com repl.co replit.co replit.com replit.dev vscode-cdn.net port 5900 is added to web proxy settings > Additional web port settings. Strangely the test Replit was not even connecting for the second line engineer on his own PC, so not sure if we actually fixed anything or if the REPLIT site was having issues which co-incidentally were resolved during our call ! Asked Head of Computing to run more tests. This was test Replit from tkinter import * app = Tk() app.mainloop() The "webview" in a filter test still blocks access to sites students should not be able to access. -

Following are all in a category which is "Not Inspected" & "Do Not Filter" eval2.janeway.platform.replit.com production-ai-chat.replit.com replit.co replit.com replit.com/~ vscode-cdn.net Must be missing something, but can't work out what :/ Smoothwall ticket opened, but they can take a while so posting here in case anyone has the answer.

Excel: can you count coloured cells which are non blank?
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in How do you do....it?
Guess I could do two separate formulas and take one number from the other - I'll play about with this but looks promising. -

kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in How do you do....it?
That works to count the cells which are a specific colour, but I can't work out how to amend it to only count cells which are a specific colour and empty or blank :/
