  1. We only have Office 365 A3 for faculty and we needed to buy a licence for teach staff member who needed A3 uplift from A1.
  2. Everyone Apply YouTube: Remove Adverts is ON
  3. Smoothwall here and I've been able to get on to YouTube - no calls from staff or 6th form.
  4. Yes, but looks like that is a global setting so we would not be able to restrict file types by security groups. Sadly.
  5. FSRM sits on our Student File Server preventing them from saving certain file types. Some of our students are now starting to use OneDrive and we've noticed they are now able to save files there that they would not be able to save on the network shares. Is there a way to restrict OneDrive to certain filetypes?
  6. We run Securly in one of our school's and compared to a Smoothwall box I've not been that impressed. We've had an open ticket with them for over 12 months. We are experiencing an issue where we are unable to embed YouTube videos in to a PowerPoint, this is a site-wide issue affecting all levels of Securly policy for all staff. To clarify, the video is accessible and can be watched on YouTube but when embedding in to a presentation the clip does not load. Any ideas on what could be blocking this? Their latest response was: Our developers are still working to resolve the problem. I do not have an ETA on when a fix will be released at this time. That was in November.
  7. Darren, with respect what else are you going to say? I'll précis what our Trust Data Manager sent to me this morning! Performance in general is becoming worse and worse. The support desk has become worse (since they took live chat away), They are investing in changes to the product which almost all schools have told them they don't want Very basic things customers want (voted by hundreds of schools) are just not being implemented. The room booking is awful. The reports module I am really struggling with and they are very soon about to release yet another UI which will be no doubt be plagued with bugs. When I asked if this had been fedback to our account manager the response was. I have had numerous meetings over the past 18 months, they write my concerns down but nothing ever gets actioned. I doubt we're an isolated situation. Darren, to say it's not great is an understatement!
  8. So realistically what are the options if we move from Bromcom?
  9. On checking Entra -> Devices -> All devices I'm seeing quite a few student home/personal devices listed with a Join type of "Microsoft Entra registered" Some have MDM listed as None and some as Microsoft Intune They all show compliant as "No" Should I be concerned or worried about these? What do students do to get their devices registered? We don't have a BYOD policy so whatever is happening is taking place off site :/ Thanks.
  10. Thread bump but we're getting insanely huge AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Service Worker\CacheStorage\ folders - some almost 3Gb. Did the script it was talked about sharing do the trick?
  11. When I next get some free time I'll see if downgrading the driver makes a difference :/
  12. Found they are located here: https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004511520
  13. On our on-prem Smoothwall we have some Category Groups setup. One is for our Student AUP. I've noticed the Content Categories list has been hugely extended and we must now updated what we have ticked and unticked. Is there a way to get the full list exported so I can present to our DSL? There are now 963 individual options to select :/
  14. To switch will you be required to get three quotes?
  15. We're aiming to give our 120 days notice soon and move to another Broadband provider. Anyone got any recommendations so that I can seek three prices?
  16. Students too, surprised no one has complained. Only seems to have happened on recent builds, yet we've changed nothing with the WIM or any TS ODD! - - - Updated - - - Life is too short - tempted to just give users the ability to choose a different theme!
  17. Some of our recent Windows 11 builds using WDS/MDT have a very strange look :/ Not sure what I've done but when a standard teacher logs on explorer looks like this: We've yet to have any complaints from end-users but it definitely does not look right. Has anyone any ideas or has anyone had any luck pushing out a set theme to all their Win 11 devices? I tried this but it had zero affect on the end-users.
  18. OK - thanks. With a startup script?
  19. We're also having issues with this software. It installs fine and runs for all users, but breaks as soon as there is an update. I was hoping it would just auto-update itself but it seems not, so we're being asked back down to DT to update 60+ devices manually. There has to be a better way. We're not using Intune yet and as they don't provide an MSI I'm wondering what the best route is?
  20. Our HP Switch E5406zl(J8697A) was put in in 2012 and we're planning a replacement in Summer 2025 when it will be 13 years old. We recently reported on our networking hardware: Switching for the school is provided by a mix of HPE, Allied Telesis and Aruba hardware variants. The majority of these switches are FE variants, with only 15 of the 35 edge switches being able to support gigabit client connection speeds. Almost all switches in the school are uplinked via fibre connections, although the majority of switches only feature a single uplink, providing no redundancy. The fibre cabling mainly routes back to the main central cabinet, which is where the core switch is located and is a mix of OM1, OM2 and OM3 depending on location and installation date. Summer 2024 we're aiming to get all our fibre in order before the 2025 works.
  21. Very odd. Double checked all the patch cables and issue has resolved, speeds now at 1Gb :/ Guess one was knocked during recent works in one of the cabs.
  22. We have two hosts running around 15 VM's. We've noticed some very poor network performance on one VM. On checking the physical adapters on the host which has that VM on I've noticed vmnic5 is only running at 100Mbps (looking back at the installation docs it should be running at 1Gbps) Now I've found the potential problem I'm not sure what to do about it as my VMWare knowledge is limited. How can I find out which VM or VM's are actually utilizing this NIC?
  23. We've simulated what happens when domain exam accounts that are using ExamWritePad lose WiFi connectivity. With our config set: DefaultBackupPath = %HomeDrive%\ExamWritePadBackups & DefaultSavePath = %HomeDrive% We've found that at Wi-Fi loss the next auto-save defaults to: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp\ Users are unable to access the C:\ drive through file explorer, but that shouldn't be an issue as long as power is restored before the end of the exam, as once it is, it automatically reverts back to saving to their home drive. If power is not restored we'd be able to logon as local admins and retrieve the work for printing once power was restored. I'm satisfied now that we've a robust setup in place in case of any power or WiFi outage.
