Sadly this may have to be re-advertised as they only received one application! Any thoughts as to why that might be? Salary? Job Description? -
Email Retention Period / Policy
kennysarmy replied to timbo343's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Is my understanding correct? Currently the Deleted Items folder does not auto-remove any items no matter how old, I've emails in this folder going back to 2018, others are likely to have the same. Once a retention policy runs on a user's mailbox any items over the threshold (say 14 months) are moved to the Deleted Items folder. Items moved to the Deleted Items folder by the retention policy are subject to 30 days wait, before they are then deleted from the Deleted Items folder. Manually deleted items before the retention policy is turned on will remain forever. What happens to manually deleted items after the retention policy is turned on will they be removed from the Deleted Items folder once they get to the age set in the retention policy. The background to the above is SMT want specific staff to have no access to emails over 14 months old and I need to ensure this is doable. It looks like I may need a powershell script to remove emails older than 14 months from the Deleted Items folder if anyone can assist with this.... -
Cost of living crisis 2022 - what have you cut back on?
kennysarmy replied to Ditto's topic in General Chat
Thankfully the cost of living crisis coincided with the mortgage getting paid off and two kids leaving home, so I've not really had to cut back on anything at all. I would have liked to have swapped my car this year, but I'm holding off on that as the price of second hand cars is ludicrous! -
I'm very much used to on-premise solutions and am able to give our teaching staff read-only view to our staff H:\ drives stored on our SAN. When managing another school site which is cloud-only I've been asked by a teacher how she can review work stored in one of her student's OneDrive. Is it possible to allow this for all the teaching staff group?

Email Retention Period / Policy
kennysarmy replied to timbo343's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Been plenty time for this policy to have kicked in but still the test user has "old" emails left in their "Deleted Items". I've been advised the way to deal with this is to go via Data Lifecycle Management and then Exchange (Legacy) and create an MRM Retention Tag and Policy and apply to the user. Surely this should not be necessary as the Microsoft 365 policy applying to Exchange mailboxes should work on all default folders including Deleted Items :/ -
Can I pretend to be another person in our O365 tenancy?
kennysarmy replied to kennysarmy's topic in Cloud Services
I appear to get on to emails but not SharePoint :/ error is "Temporary access pass sign-in was blocked due to User Credential Policy." -
We have a user having issues with accessing files in SharePoint - other than resetting their password and logging in as them is there another way to see if I can replicate their issue?

Email Retention Period / Policy

Test policy seems to work however Deleted Items folder was unaffected and still retains many old emails. Is this folder not affected by Email retention policy? Odd. -
Request from student to unfilter "TurboWarp" - don't know much about it but their justification is: "Message from student: TurboWarp is a Scratch mod that compiles Scratch projects to Javascript, making them run much faster. Scratch is a website for made for programming, however it is extremely slow and has inadequate performance. Furthermore, TurboWarp has many features that make programming much easier and efficient, which Scratch does not." Anyone know if this is appropriate to unfilter for students at school?

Email Retention Period / Policy
kennysarmy replied to timbo343's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
So SMT have decided that our email retention policy needs to be: All teaching and most staff 14 months Specific staff with job roles away from "teaching and learning" - 3 years. Any good guides on how to achieve this with Office 365? Cheers -

No offence, but that's definitely NOT my experience of opening calls with Bromcom -it's very rare to receive a phone to help resolve a case! I'll DM you my current call reference so you can see an example of emails being batted back and forward, I believe this call could have been dealt with far more efficiently with a call and remote session!
-
Am I the only one who gets frustrated at Bromcom support and their lack of engagement? By that I mean their reluctance to actually phone up the customer and work through the problem or arrange remote sessions to assist, instead they prefer endless back and forth email communication which takes five times as long to resolve anything!!

Intune and Web Filtering

Are staff able to view YouTube videos? Are staff able to embed YouTube videos in to PowerPoints and still have them unfiltered? We cannot get this to work -
Hi all, Just looking at replacing our ageing Adobe CS6 with CC. Bit confused over the pros and cons of the device versus named user licence - can anyone give me a quite summary? With CS6 we have it on 250 devices and they're obviously free for any of our 1400 students or 200 staff to use. (Though in reality a lot less probably ever use it) Thanks. PS. We're an O365 school.
