bandgeekmafia78 replied to bandgeekmafia78's topic in Windows
Thats what I initially thought, but I've changed their group membership to EXACTLY the same as the other users that are working fine. Still no joy. I am completely baffled!- 6 replies

Hi. We've just got a new system in place which allows automatic authentication to OWA and SharePoint from in the school. However, one bunch of users in Active Directory cannot authenticate. I get this: HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. Internet Information Services (IIS) Strange, because every other user in the school is working fine. Its just my DiDA users. I've moved them to seperate OUs, changed their group policies etc. etc. but they just won't authenticate! They've always been able to in the past. Any ideas? I'm not sure what the 'invalid credentials' is all about. Can't see anything untoward in IIS either. Any help would be appreciated, I'm getting worried that it wont be ready by Monday! Alan.

If DPM 2010 is anything like DPM 2007 I would avoid it like the plague. Caused me more problems that it solved!

Smartboard won't stay oriented
bandgeekmafia78 replied to LeightonJames's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I've come across this problem when the whiteboard is positioned directly above a radiator. -
My guess is that he's got tons of torrented music/videos/apps on his computer. So yeah, this sentance is a lot less that what he'd get for illegal downloading. Fair play to him. I'd probably have done the same.

We had a problem importing basedata too, but this was resolved once we did the Summer upgrade. -
Can you disable shockwave add-ons using HTML?
bandgeekmafia78 replied to bandgeekmafia78's topic in Coding
Cheers. I started to realise this couldnt be done with HTML. You cannot see the class if you view source as a visitor would view it so I'm guessing this might not be possible. Looks like I might have to find £4 a year or whatever it costs -
Hi, I've got my own website that is hosted free, and as a consequence I'm getting an advertisement on the home page. I've noticed that I can disable Shockwave in IE to stop this, but obviously this doesnt work for anyone else visiting the site. My question is... is there a HTML code that would automatically disable shockwave scripts from running? Thanks in advance. Alan.

Building Schools for the Future plans to be scrapped
bandgeekmafia78 replied to victory2009's topic in BSF
This is true. My cousin works for a construction company in London (Whitby Bird) and he has been relying on BSF to keep him in his job. They will now be potentially facing massive redundancies. While I've over the moon that BSF has been scrapped, there's always going to be someone else who loses out. -
If you have a SIMS Learning Gateway, Lesson Monitor is also viewable by the Parents of your students.

How do you Image a RAID'ed Server?
bandgeekmafia78 replied to bandgeekmafia78's topic in O/S Deployment
Brilliant! I thought it was possible but I needed to check before going ahead with it. So you just Ghost the Server as if it was a regular workstation? Good stuff! Would the RAID and NIC drivers not be part of the image? Thanks. -
Hi, Is it possible to image a server using GhostCast Server if the Server has a hardware RAID? Basically, I am very short of disk space on the c:\ and I plan to image the Server; backup the D:\; put the image back onto the server with an increased partition size; restore data back to d:\ Has anyone managed to do this? I'm fairly nervous as this is my SharePoint server! Thanks, Alan.

Have you decided which company you are going to purchase from? I think I'm going to do the same as you - get them to come in and do the setup + training. IMO the iMACS are pretty expensive, but what the headteacher wants the headteacher gets! Thanks. Alan.
-
Cheers Rich, Are you looking at a managed solution or are you going to configure the MAC Server and AD authentication yourself? I've just had a look at Equanet and they seem pretty good.
-
Hi, My school is considering whether to purchase 30 iMACs for a new classroom in September. I was just wondering whether it is advisable to purchase a MAC Server in addition to this, and whether it is advisable to add them to the school network or have them as standalones? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to MACs so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Alan.

Anyone playing with Sharepoint 2010?
bandgeekmafia78 replied to HMCTech's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
We currently have MOSS 2007 but we're thinking of upgrading to 2010 after we had a demo last week. It looks really good, much easier to use that 2007 by all accounts. However, I've just heard that there is going to be an adapted version of SharePoint 2010 next year which is aimed at the Education sector. Apparently it is codenamed ULARU (?) so we might hang fire for this version to come out. If anyone knows about this ULARU please share! -
I don't get it. What incentive could there possibly be for a private company to invest in a Secondary School? I'm still no clearer to knowing whether this will help or hinder the BSF program either.

Hi, Got a bit of a problem with a PC I'm building for someone. I'm trying to find some Motherboard Reset Switch/Power Switch/LED Extension Cables. Stupidly, the SFF case does not come with long enough cables to reach the Micro ATX motherboard. Duhhh. I'm looking for something similar to this: FrozenCPU Standard Motherboard Power Switch Extension Cable - FrozenCPU.com Does anyone know where I can source these from? Can't seem to find them at Maplin or Micro Direct. Cheers, Alan.

If you want to make an authentic curry you'll need to buy quite a few spices. I guess it depends how simple or complex you want to make it. After a bit of practice you'll be able to chop and change your spice mix to make all sorts of different curries. Can you tell I'm a bit of a curry fiend..? lol.

Sorted. Thanks a lot for your help - turns out the local sims.ini file was looking at the old server for its updates. -
Problems since migrating SIMS to SQL 2008 Server
bandgeekmafia78 replied to bandgeekmafia78's topic in MIS Systems
Thats what I was thinking too, but where can I check this? I have edited the S:\Sims\Connect.ini file to point at the new server and database. Is there any other way to check this? Thanks.
