  1. I dont think this printer will work on Server 2003 if thats where its being used....
  2. Hi all, I was just wondering if it was possible to create your own boot partition, such as the one that comes hidden when you get your computer on the hard drive and not on a CD or DVD. I want to be able to keep everything in one place and have it custom made, so if I have any problems at all, I just press F11 at start up and then the reimaging from the hard drive starts up. I know I can do this from a CD/DVD using Acronis True Image and Norton Ghost, but I want to eliminate the added extra CD's that I would have to scrounge up from some place I put it and it would definitely speed up the reimaging time. This is just more of a curiousity thing rather and would make building computers for someone much easier if they ever come into any problems. I would be interested in adding the Hiren's applications into a boot partition, in particular for Universal TCP/IP Network (with Ghost). Many thanks! Alan __________________

  5. Hi I need a way to enable tool tips for a student logon.... basically so that when the pupil waves the cursor across a folder, it will show them how large the folder is. I cannot find anything in Group Policy that is preventing the pupils from doing this, but for some reason they can't. I have tried editing parts of the registry, and this seems to work for local admin accounts but not for pupil logons. Any Ideas? Is there anything in Group Policy that I'm missing? I know I could use a piece of software to solve this (such as TreeSize Pro) but I don't want pupils having the ability to see the contents of C:\ etc. Any help would be appreciated! Alan
  6. Ive got the t-shirt "there are 10 types of people in this world - those who understand binary and those who don't" so I guess I'm a geek too.
  7. Good Luck
  8. ".....tell me what your thinking" "what can swim faster, an 'orse or a dog?" Think its for WKD - very funny, and also poses a good question. I think that a horse would be faster in water than a dog. I mean, if they were to have a race over 100m, the horse is at an advantage because it has such a long head.
  9. We have a similar problem.... The pupils can log on to the thinclient workstations but after a few minutes it automatically logs them off again. Not sure why this is happening, although I have noticed DHCP issues arising in event viewer.
  10. "all the data has gone missing from my home directory...." "when did you discover this had happened?" "a few months ago - any chance we've got a backup???" eerm....no.
  11. I created a package for digital blue on my CC3 network last week - no problems whatsoever. Maybe thats because the only users of this software have a few admin privelages (?)
  12. How the hell is "Jar Jar" a racist word?! I don't think you'd be kicked out of Big Brother for saying that one!

  15. Illient SysAid is free and really easy to use. Worth taking a look at it.
  16. You could have setup a new reservation in DHCP for the offending machine given that you knew its MAC address.
  17. Personally I would run/schedule a batch file to start the DNS service periodically. That way, even if the service stops it will be back up and running pretty quickly. Not a solution but might be handy if you aren't gonna be on site for a few days!
  18. Have you moved this directory onto another server recently? If this is the case and you haven't re-designed your backup, veritas will be looking for a directory that simply doesn't exist. Also, does this error prevent you from performing a restore?
  19. Vertitas Backup Exec 11d and LTO2 drive. Easy and relatively quick!
  20. Been trying to deploy this software onto a CC3 network but the package always fails. Just wondering if anyone has had any success? I dont want to have to install it manually onto every client if I don't have to ta alan

  23. We've had incidents where the kids were filmed fighting each other. We contacted Youtube and they took the video down within 24 hours
  24. We've got 1NM 1 full-time and 1 term-time PLUS 9 primary schools to look after. Seems to work fine, and we are a pretty massive school.
